    Good hotel - great location”

Our room was great and we had enough space for our stuff. On the ceiling over the bed there was a hook, perfect for our mosquito net. The bathroom could be a bit cleaner. The location is perfect. You can walk everywhere. The nightmarket begins around the corner.

the location of the hotel is awesome. it is all walking distance to most attractions. i would say that the hotel staff speak minimal English but enough to communicate. the hotel room is very clean and has an old has ambiance. Breakfast is palatable. overall stay in this property is worth the cost.

I booked this hotel through Agoda but when I got there I was told there are no rooms in Villa Phathana and I was moved to a different hotel. Therefore I cannot review this hotel but I wouldn’t be recommending this hotel if someone wants to know about hotels in Luang Prabang

Great value in a great location”

Nice hotel opposite the palace and just around the corner from the main road with the night market, shops and restaurants. Everything is within walking distance. The room was a bit dated and had quite a strong damp smell in the bathroom, so it could probably benefit from an update. However, the price is excellent when everything else is quite overpriced in Luang Prabang. The staff are also extremely friendly and the breakfast nice.

    Great location. Friendly staff

Deluxe room is worth the extra money. Comes with mozzie nets and you will need them. The hotel is in a great spot and the staff are great. It lets itself down in that when we decided to to have breKfast which was included in the price, we were told the owner hadn't let any food.

A charming hotel in a serene, mystical city.”

Mr. Thongphant, Mr. Phone (2 of the best front desk people I've ever encountered) and breakfast.

The hotel is a little gem actually. It is old, well maintained and comfortable as your favorite old pair of shoes. As I mentioned earlier, Mr. Thongphant and Mr. Phone are two charming young men. They enjoy practicing their foreign language skills and are more than willing to assist you in any way that they can. Their smiles are infectious. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, including perfectly ripe fruit, eggs that haven't been over cooked and the bread. If their was ever a blessing from European domination of Indochina you can find it in this town. The French left a hint of their architecture and thank God, their love of good bread and pastries. Fortunately for the town and us, they also left their baking skills. I'll briefly describe the town this way: hundreds of monks have been saying prayers here daily for centuries. Their prayers fill the air.

    Nice place to stay.”

Best location, staffs friendly, value for money.

This hotel is in one of the best location in middle of Luangprabang. It is next to the Mount. Phusi and Luangprabang National Museum (Royal Palace Museum). You can also walk to many places such as Morning market , Night market , Maekhong river , Khan river , Wat Xiangthong and Post office. They provides coffee and tea for you all the times you've stayed here and it is free of charge. That time when we stayed, the weather was cold and raining so hot coffee or tea was good for us. Next time when we go to Luangprabang, we will stay here again.

    Location, quiet atmosphere, cleanliness

Villa Phathana is less than 100 metres from the main street, but is a perfect base to explore everything in Luang Prabang. The accommodation is a quiet and tranquil haven in what is becoming a bustling tourist drawcard.

Harsh reminder of importance of hotel selection”

Nice location in a narrow town

Overall, not a pleasant place to stay; especially, in terms of value and cleaning status - a thread of mop stayed on the floor for three days before I put it away. Disappointingly noisy early in the morning with motorbikes and cars passing by hotel's front road. It's a less-than-average hotel looking nice and wonderful in pictures only. Hotel staff, seemingly ritually, asked me to pay for my room when I was checking out. I have read several such stories but it was my first time that I encountered it myself, which strangely made me feel like I have become a real traveller.

Really nice rooms and good breakfast”

    Breakfast, location and nice room

Because there were some problems in the room that we booked, we were promoted to the villa, which was really nice, big, quiet and it situated in the middle of the hotel (it was a building separated from the hotel so we had own "house" in the hotel's garden). Breakfast was really good. Only negative thing in this hotel was that the staff spoke only a little bit english so we had few times a problem to communicate with them.

Very good location (especially just around the corner for night market, tak bat and main streets for everything), tasty breakfast, friendly staff, hot shower, clean room - pretty much everything you need here at least for me. For internet users, thuogh, you may have found a problem with not-so-good wifi that didn't work during my stay.

Great guest house in a quiet area.”

    Big Rooms and large beds.

villa phatana is pretty comfortable for a guest house. the rooms are large, beds the same, though a little hard as are nearly all in laos. bathroom and hot water were quite adequate. the breakfast was ok but a little more would be better. in a quiet part of town but an easy stroll to the centre. be careful about booking a "slow boat to vientiane" tour as advertised in the lobby. not operated by the hotel and they are not likely to offer it in future anyway. but you don't get what you paid for.

    Staff

we tried to get a few places before this one & they were booked out. however, we were glad we stayed here. it was right in the middle if everything, wifi (only in the lobby), the staff were very attentive & the breakfast (french toast) was good. i had a twin room which was all you needed, reasonable size & quite clean. don't get washing done here though, it's a little more expensive than most other places.

    Top central location, quiet backyard

There are 9 rooms: 5 rooms are located in a wooden annex in a green, quiet backyard, which we can recommend. 4 rooms are located above the entrance hall which can get too noisy at daytimes (voices of staff and sometimes guests or some street noise (not to much). These 4 rooms where to loud for us, because we've wanted to sleep a lot after travelling 48 hours. Heavy wooden beds and a medium or big fridge in the room. No internet, but ALL services of the city are to find in only in 1 minute walking distance. Very good (Swiss) restaurant next door, to the right: Trip advisor's No. 1 in Luang Prabang. The staff was very friendly. Worst point was the poor breakfast: Some fruit, a bread, some days with a tiny butter or none.

We found this a great, comfortable hotel. Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were big and spotless. Your other reviews were right, they make a great breakfast omelette and the breakfast area is a great place to watch the world go by. Otherwise loved it, a great place to stay.
