Quiet little boutique hotel, great service & smile”
we selected villa samnang being a boutique hotel in the heart of phnom penh for the location, and found a little gem! we required 4 single rooms, being ladies traveling on our own and were given rooms which were tastefully decorated, clean and tidy and were well appointed. there are about 12 rooms over 3 levels (with no lift), a good size shower, with individual hot water services, efficient 'split system' air conditioners in each room and a good sized pool for the number of guests. the staff (being cambodian/french) went out of their way to ensure we were well taken care of. the 'american' breakfast was excellent, which included fresh french stick, eggs, bacon, coffee/tea and fruit.
The place to stay, a lovely hotel and nice service”
Great hotel, good location and smiling staff I booked a room at Villa Samnang a few days ago, and was very satisfied with both the room and the service. The rooms were large, well appointed, clean, comfortable, with Internet, Cable TV, a fridge and safety box. The very friendly staff made me feel like I was still at home. I enjoyed the breakfast by the pool, with delicious French baguettes with butter and jam, and various hot drinks: coffee, chocolate, teas… Location was very good; just a short walk to many restaurants, bars and spas. I would stay here again, absolutely
Lovely boutique hotel with friendly staff.”
i was in phnom penh for a conference, so i was very busy, but the villa samnang provided the perfect place to come back to for rest and relaxation. the rooms are spacious and well-equipped. the pool is small but ideal for cooling off after a day around town. the staff are very friendly and helpful. breakfast was a little disappointing with limited choice.
This was our second time staying at Villa Samnang and it was just perfect, as before. Located in a quiet little neighborhood a quick taxi from the river. The staff are very helpful and the breakfast was the best we've had in Cambodia. The pool is perfect for relaxing in the afternoon after visiting the sites. We highly recommend Villa Samnang.
Nice and quiet place in the middle of BKK1”
A really nice an quiet place in Phnom Penh; staff is very friendly and helpful and it was a good place to work. A nice swimming pool to cool off and very close to all cafes and restaurants of BKK1. The new owner invests a lot which overcomes the lack of maintenance rapidly. It is a nicely painted, well functioning and clean place to relax after a day in the office.
Great hotel, thoroughly recommended.”
I was very impressed with this hotel. The room was large, the air-conditioning excellent and the staff very friendly. The location is very central but far enough away from bars or clubs so that you get no noise at all from your surroundings. If you find it's too hot to walk to the river etc, there is always a tuk-tuk outside the hotel and will cost you $3 to go anywhere you want in Phnom Penh. The pool and seating around it was lovey. Perfect for relaxing and cooling off after a morning's sightseeing.
Confident to stay”
I have confident to recommend Villa Samnang to others
Clean and cozy. Breakfast (if improved) would be value adding to the hotel. Other boutique hotel serve better portion (Samnang - one small miserable piece of bacon????) and noodles soup (Teav).
Dear Seah, thanks for taking the time to review our hotel and we have noted your comments regarding the breakfast. Try us next time you visit Phnom Penh. All the best from team Villa Samnang
This is a nice small hotel, in a quiet area of Phnom Penh away from the more touristy areas. There are lots of really good places to eat close by, especially sushi. The pool is a bonus in the heat.
We were given a room on the ground floor near the common toilet. The room was full of mosquitoes. When we complained about mosquitoes, they gave us a can of mosquito spray to spray ourselves. However we later requested them to spray. The door lock was jammed and it just wouldn't lock from inside or from outside. The person at the reception said that they have no other room , the villa is fully booked. We had to keep our room open and go out. In the meantime they said that they would get the lock repaired. The problem was persistent when we came back. We had an altercation regarding the same and after talking to the manager they upgraded us to their suite room for a night. The bathroom in that suite was small in size and smelling. However we checked out of that room in the morning and were allotted the same room , however this time they had made some repairing to the lock. Still it took a lot of effort to lock and unlock. Pool is good to look at, not so much for swimming. We had an early morning bus to catch and it was nice of them to have given us breakfast before their usual breakfast time. Mixed feelings.
Wanted to love it but too many issues”
I really wanted to live this hotel. The photos looked great but there were a lot of issues. First the pros - great location, good breakfast, nice pool (although sort of slippery around the sides and oddly no shallow end), good AC. Next the cons: very few employees spoke any English (although they sincerely tried to be helpful), I tried to get a cocktail one night during happy hour but was told there was no bartender to make it, my room was quite basic and looked nothing like the photos, my shower head was very old/calcified and had a weird water stream, my window on the first floor looked out on to a narrow alleyway in the back which employees walked by occasionally seeing into the room, there was a lot of noise going on out of the bathroom window starting early in the morning, mosquitos in room. It’s entirely possible that some issues might not happen in nicer, bigger rooms on upper floors so I would give them a chance if you can afford more than the basic double on ground floor
Great Value Great Location”
I cannot speak highly enough about the friendliness and attentiveness of the staff. The pool was delightful although the pool area is rather small so our kids jumping in and out created some splashing. However, with mostly families staying at the hotel it wasn't a bother to others. Our only disappointment was being placed on the ground level room which was not as nice as the larger and nicer rooms on the second level. The second night we were there was a party and grand unveiling of the new restaurant and menu. This included free snacks and free drinks. a nice treat which we were invited to enjoy as well as a live band. The band played well into the night which was fun but we were left a little short on sleep. I guess it would have been nice to know about the party in advance of our booking. We could have planned accordingly. Additionally, it should have ended earlier than it did. I think they went well past midnight. The idea of the party was nice. The party itself was a bit much.
The hotel just opened and I was one of the first customers. The staff was new and in the learning process. Also some details in the room eg. soap holder, hangers etc. were not yet finished. However, situation improved significantly during my stay. Overall, it is a nice, quiet boutique hotel with clean, modern rooms and a beautiful pool area - a bit far away from the nightlife of Phnom Penh.
Beautiful and friendly boutique hotel”
enjoyed our stay here. good size rooms, a nice pool and friendly staff made it easy with our kids. close to many restaurants and coffee shops (brown up the road does a great syphon coffee), but the food (and coffee) at the hotel is good too. only negative is that it is a little bit above our normal price range!
I can not say enough good things about this hotel! My experience way exceeded my expectations! ”
From the welcome scarf, welcome fruit plate and sticky rice, welcome drink that tasted like nectar of the gods , welcome massage, welcome excursion take away lunch, and welcome gourmet dinner it was first rate all the way. The room was beautiful with flours decorating the bed and floating in the sink upon arrival. Lovely bathroom amenities and super hot shower with rain style fawcet head! Did I mention. They were welcoming! Also, for me the location was fantastic. About a 15 to 20 minute walk away from night market and pub street. So those areas were easy to access and yet just far enough away to feel quiet once you were back at the hotel. The service was exceptional and I have never had so much bang for my buck anywhere else! Trust me, you will love staying here! This hotel made my experience in Siem Reap exceptional! Thank you to So Nary and all the staff!!!
HI Victoria, it was great to have you as our guest and hope to have you back soon again. Thanks for the great review. All the best from team Villa Samnang.
excellent location with friendly staff”
Hotel is in a quiet location in central Phnom Penh. Staff are friendly and rooms are clean. Menu is limited but wide choice of restaurants available nearby. Small pool good for cooling off and sunbeds available for guests. Noise between rooms can be an issue as connecting doors provide little sound insulation.
the villa is situated in the bkk1 district of phnom penh - which is the expat and ngo area - a couple of meters off one of the district main roads. you will find a number of quality coffee shops and places to eat and drink within within walking distance. the posh cars of the cambodian corruption elite and their descendants will guide your way... also the two lanes 278 and 288 with a larger number of local and foreign restaurants and are within walking distance as well as a western style (and priced). the hotel is family friendly, so expect noise and splashing around the poolside. sextourists are not welcome. its just a short tuktuk ride to the cities major tourist spots. the female reception staff was very competent, friendly and helpful - the male staff at the reception was not polite (therefore my low rating of staff performance) room was clean.
Good hotel and lovely staff”
Great hotel small and very clean, beautiful big pool with relaxing surrounds fabulous seating ,good size rooms, nice breakfast with good choices and lovely helpful friendly English speaking staff. Quiet location easy to get around with cheap Tuk Tuk drivers always available outside hotel Would recommend this hotel to our friends and would stay here again
Great staff ”
A wonderful team of staff who are eager to help. However I wouldn’t pay full price as my room was a bit damp feeling with an annoying door. The food was pretty good but starchy white bread could be improved. As with all places- un-necessary plastic ware in the bathrooms. Water refills for a price over little plastic bottles would be a great way to help PP tourist industry with being a little bit more environmentally friendly. Great staff are the best part of the stay.
Great stay for the price”
We stayed around May 13 to May 15, 2019 and it was almost the end of summer time so everything was still hot. The room provided for us was the family room that was said to be capable to handle 5 people but it is only for 4 really. My family needed to compact themselves to the queen bed and an extra bed will cost extra. Aside from that, the room's bathroom did not have a bidet which they should really get. Other than those two comments, the stay was overall great. There is free breakfast, thebstaff was great and we did not have issues with checking out. If you will want a relatively cheap stay with a pool then you can stay here.
