Vineyard Hotel was originally the estate of Lady Anne Barnard and has over 200 years of history within the 208 elegant guestrooms. This lovely property is one of the higher rated establishments in all of greater Cape Town for many reasons. Perhaps it is the lush six acres of carefully maintained parkland, the two indoor swimming pools, the nearby Cavendish shopping district, the full-service luxury spa, or the world-class dining that takes place every night in one of the three restaurants. There are many reasons to list, these are just a few and combined with the level of service and overall tranquility of the area it is easy to understand why this is a top choice for Cape Town.
"Great setting and facilities."

All round excellent visit
just the perfect hotel
Exceptional service and friendly staff. Breakfast and room comfort excellent.
This past Easter weekend was the 10th consecutive Easter we spend at the Vineyard. The hotel is perfectly situated for runners doing Two Oceans as there is a shuttle service to the start. We've stayed at a variety of rooms over the years - Mountain View Deluxe, Courtyard Room, Garden Suite and Junior River Suites. The rooms are comfortable. The rooms are cleaned on time and perfectly. We do think, however, having stayed at the Junior River Suite this year that these rooms are due for a bit of a makeover. We've eaten at Myoga (divine!), at the hotel restaurant, The Square (consistently great food). This time we had lunch at the Splash Cafe and I had THE BEST FISH i had in my life!! The views of the mountain, having breakfast, is always a memory one takes with. I can go on and on about this hotel. The roof of Splash Cafee is covered with solar panels, and huge water tanks shows a hotel that considers the environment. We will make our booking for next year soon!
It was disconcerting not being able to control your own room temperature.
Beautiful hotel in colonial style with fantastic view of table mountain and wonderful garden. Our only problem was the food. The restaurant was fully booked the first night, so we ate on the terrace, which although a nice place the menu was limited to bistro food which did not reflect the ambience of the place. The staff were very pleasant and polite but appeared unhappy, possibly due to "colonial," attitudes of other guests.
Gracious colonial hotel”
A lovely hotel set in amazing gardens manicured by several very large tortoises. We had a large room with a balcony that looked out on Table Mountain. The food was good as was the service. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We liked the large terrace where we enjoyed a few drinks. The swimming pool area was a little crowded. The location is good because you are a short distance from the Waterfront and with easy access to Hout Bay, Simonstown, the Cape etc. We thought it was tremendous value for money and would definitely stay here again.
A perfect restful oasis after a busy day, attentive staff and good quality finishes.
Loved the renovated room. Breakfast wonderful ”
The Square is quite hot
Liked the mixture of old and new furnishings and how they preserved the old buildings . Lovely staff very helpful. Pleasant atmosphere
A very pleasant experience”
A tired & rundown hotel. We only stayed here because better options were full over the Xmas break
Fantastic location and facilities. Appalling housekeeping.”
Services in particular Housekeeping was non-existent. For £200 a night at this hotel, you have to beg and justify your usage of the toiletries such as shampoo or teabags or even complimentary water on a daily basis, not once but multiple times per day. Before you are finally allowed to have some (as opposed to none) delivered at their mercy.
We always return ‘to the vineyard hotel.
All around amazing! My best stay in Cape Winelands and Peninsula! ”
1. The hotel is a preserved historical building and they document it. There is a museum in the lobby and book in the room! 2. Amazing view. The property is massive with their own garden and river. 3. Facility is top notch. In room and in hotel. 4. Foods are amazing! Top notch breakfast with balanced selection of warm and cold cuts, healthy and indulgent. Variety of fresh juice also mind blowing. I ordered room service and it did not disappoint Last but not least, hospitality. They upgraded me to mountain view room and let me check in an hour early. If the hotel wants to invest in something, an iPod dock/mini speaker in room will make everything perfect
I finally got to stay at my favourite hotel, the staff are so warm and welcoming nothing is to much trouble, The mountain view room is lovely and spacious with a fabulous view from the balcony on to the gardens, trees and mountains. The restaurant does fantastic food which is reasonably priced for a hotel of this standard. The buffet breakfast is also a feast for sore eyes so much choice it’s difficult to choose from the vast selection. I’ve enjoyed it so much here I’ve extended my stay.
