Relaxing and luxurious.”
We arrived at Vinh Hung after a week of noise, pollution, heavy traffic and restless nights: looking forward for a relaxing few days in hopefully lovely, sophisticated Hoi An. We were instantly feeling relaxed, welcomed and at home walking into the quiet, dimly lit, dark-timber and red-lanterned 200+ years old house of Vinh Hung. Thin checked us in in a friendly, relaxed manner, complete with hot green tea, some chit-chat, some info about the place and Hoi An. Our suite was a long room with dark, wide, polished floorboard with a queen and double bed, beautiful and simple, air-conditioning, with marble-floored bathroom and toilet area separated by carved timber sliding doors. As we were in the middle of Ancient Town, after dinner-time became quiet and peaceful with occasional local domestic-life noises and scents. We had the most comfortable sleeps here and woke up refreshed to enjoy a lovely spread of Asian and Western variety of buffet style breakfast, with attentive, chatty and friendly but not overly lingering staff. The Ancient Town in its glory days was well imaginable sipping hot Vietnamese coffee at Vinh Hung on those comfy deep, low-legged Chinese-style wooden chairs. This building, we later found out, was so much better preserved and maintained than its other counterparts around this area. We're really grateful for the love and foresight dedicated to keeping this place beautiful, traditional and full of human life. Thanks everyone at Vinh Hung.
The best atmosphere in historic Hoi An”
If you intend to stay in the heart of historic Hoi An, in a traditional Hoi An house, with all the amenities but with a definite local, vintage flavour, this is the right place for you! Vinh Hung 1 Hotel is a few steps from the Japanese Bridge and one of the spectacular assembly houses, on a paedestrian road (in Vietnam it means that motorcycles and bicycles do use it), one block from the riverside. In spite of what any fears you may have from the movement you see passing in front of the hotel during the day, all rooms are quiet and peaceful at night and in the morning. We stayed at one of the two suites on the facade, but there are four suites on the back. Rooms are very well decorated and the bathroom, with its wooden tub is antological. The lobby is really nice and attracts the attention of those passing by. As you visit other traditional houses in the old town, you realize how well preserved this wood building is! You may have a quit breakfast in the lobby but the group has a very nice restaurant two doors appart, just looking at the Cantonese Assembly House and the Japanese Bridge. The staff is amazing. They efficiently arranged for our trip to My Son in coordination with the bus to Hue.
Know what you're getting”
We booked this hotel based on the review in Lonely Planet. We loved our stay, but there were some surprises. We booked room 208 which was recommended as the room to get. However, the room is dark with only one outside window. As this window opens onto a veranda that gets guest traffic, we decided to keep it closed. The other main issue is that there are translucent glass panels in the wall and door that open onto the corridor and even when the hall lights are turned off, a lot of light leaks into the room at night. Bring eye shades. On the plus side, the hotel is gorgeous if you like traditional, historic architecture. The staff is super nice and very attentive. Perhaps the biggest bonus is the menu of "complimentaries." Dinner with the staff is "on the house." The food is delicious and plentiful. Staying at the hotel and eating with the staff is like having dinner with old friends. Vinh Hung is part of a chain and all of the facilities of the Vinh Hung resort are available to the guests of the Heritage hotel. This includes free massage, use of the swimming pool, etc. We will definitely stay there again, but next time we'll bring the eye shades we get from various airlines.
A gem of a place in the heart of the Old Quarter”
Step back in time when you stay at the Vinh Hung Heritage Hotel in the historic Old Quarter of Hoi An. From the warm welcome at the front entrance to the central open courtyard, removing your shoes to climb the stairs to the upper floor guest rooms, this hotel is charming and comfortable with modern amenities.
Vinh Hung Heritage, a must for Hoi Ann”
Excellent. Without Vinh Hung Heritage in the old town, Hoi Ann would have been a different experience. Very friendly staff, clean rooms and convenient location. Highly recommended. Try for the "Michael Caine" room. The hotel is located in the center of the old town, with magnificent architectural designs dated two hundred years old. Tip: if available, register for the dinner with the staff. It is free and you will have the chance to try home made Viietnamese food and meet very nice people.
Great location, friendly staff, and lots of complementaries”
The “Vinh Hung 1” (as they call it since there are many “Vinh Hing xxx” hotel across the town) is only a few steps from the Japanese covered bridge. The house and the room are very nice and staying here means you are already staying in a Hoi An’s old house - so you can save your old town ticket for other attractions !!! The hotel also provides a complementary river cruise - from one of their river side hotels - as well as a full Vietnamese dinner, and foot massage !!! The only downside is that no 4 wheels or larger vehicles are allowed in the old town area and we had to carry our luggages from the nearest street that is about 3 blocks away. When we checked out, the staff loaded our luggages on the hotel’s cyclo and led us to another VH Hotel - just a few blocks away where our Grab Taxi was waiting for us. It would be nice if we were informed about this when booking so that we could just ask the taxi to drop us at this hotel branch and had the staff help us with the luggages.
Great deco but a bit rundown”
this hotel is essentially a refurbished house of an old chinese family of hoi an. basically it is like back to the past, how much more can you ask for? that is what great about visiting hoi an, to experience the old charm of a south east asian port city. every morning i just sat at the 2nd floor balcony and look down to the old street, had my cold beer and see time slowly passed away. that is the best feeling. vinh hung 1 just enhanced that experience for us, the location is just off the japanese bridge, 2-3 min walk. and there are restaurant of various pricing just around 10-15 mins walking radius. the concierge and everyone else are great, they serve you as if you are part of the family, not a hotel guest per se. you can see a bit of wear and tear to the rooms, it is time for the owner to do some small reno. not much, just some touching up will do fine... probably because i was an architect, i see things people don't?
Heritage hotel with excellent location”
This is the 1st time I stayed in a 200-yr old property. It was well-kept & clean. It was value for money as it comes with free 30-min foot massage, 1hr boat ride and even dinner (home-cooked Vietnamese meal!). The staff are friendly & the guests are free to use any swimming pools in other Vinh Hung hotels in Hoi An. But be prepared for bikes honking & bustling crowds if you stay in the room facing the street.
What a setting ”
We had the best time at this Hotel our 5th trip to Hoi An and won't be our last staying here. The location is great Ving Hung Heritage is the ONLY hotel in the heart of Hoi An everything is on your door step. The staff are excellent will do anything to make your stay a memorable one. Breakfast is fantastic your own chef!!. Ting and Cherry will look after you!!!. Don't walk past or scroll past this unique Hotel.
Loved every bit of it”
We enjoyed our stay very much at Vinh Hung 1. there is lot of character to the hotel building. Its centrally located in the beautiful town of Hoi An. close to the river and to all the major restuarents and shopping. Thank you to the Vinh Hung 1 staff for the amazing service!!!
Traditional Chinese room worth a stay”
We found the Vinh Hung 1 Hotel to be very well located close to all the major reasons for travelling to Hoi An. We found the Special Chinese room to be well presented and provided us with an authentic experience of Hoi An. It is a no frills hotel, but this doesn't matter in Hoi An where all you want to do is walk the streets - not sit in your hotel room. We found the hotel staff's recommendations for tailor shops and restaurants to be very well founded, and recommend paying attention to these upon arrival.
Great location, lovely staff, huge room”
We loved the Vin Hung 1 Hotel. I had read reviews saying that it was expensive for what it was as it did not have a pool. The lack of pool in my view was more than made up for by staying in the midst of centuries old buildings in the main street of Hoi An, which for a large part of the day is traffic free. The suite was huge and immaculate. The staff could not have been more helpful. We only had 10 days in Vietnam but our stay at this hotel was one of the highlights.
Charming Historic House”
We loved our time at the Vinh Hung 1 Heritage Hotel. It was like taking a step back into the past although the noise from motor bikes in the street was a bit of a problem. Obviously the hotel has no control over this and there are three two hour blocks when motor bikes are banned from those streets and it is lovely and peaceful there then (cars are banned at all times).
Amazing experience in the heart of Hoi An Ancient Town”
This place was amazing! Not only we were at the heart of Hoi An ancient town, but also got to fully enjoyed what it’s like staying at a historic/heritage building. The place is like a movie set, with old-style furnitures. The staff was extremely attentive. We had traditional Vietnamese dinner at the hotel which was so lovely! We’re extremely pleased with our stay. The whole experience was very wholesome. Wholeheartedly recommend this place if we want to stay in Hoi An and enjoy what it’s like living here.
a hotel with a unique ambience”
me and my wife are active hashers and great travellers. we have been travelling on a frequent basis to see different cultures, peoples, tribes and visited many countries.we have experienced stayng in 1 star up to 5star hotels but ving hung 1 hotel in hoi an vietnam is worth commenting.inspite of being a very old hotel with only 6 rooms all structures, flooring, walling, furnitures ect, were all constructed of mahagony timber which can be considered antique, they are well maintained, clean and room interior are real cosy. the few staffs are friendly and their ever willing to smile when we talk to them are an asset to the hotel.when asked where is the best place to eat cao lau and fried hoanh thanh[wonton]the staff without hesitation told us the shop and drew us the locality map direction.breakfast was satisfactory.we strongly this hotel to those who want to experience the hotel ambience with a difference.
An Absolute MUST - Stay here for it's CHARM and warm HOSPITALITY!!”
When picking a place to stay in a foreign country, stay in a wonderful setting that allows you to immerse in the culture, close to all activities in the Ol' Quarter of Hoi An. This was the case here, a warm friendly staff that made our stay a very memorable one. A must for those that enjoy meeting and eating with the locals!! Thank you Heritage Hotel and staff.
Perfect location with nice service”
It was a very pleasant stay. I requested for a transport and the staff responded promptly. When we reached, we realised how good the location was. And with only 6 rooms in the hotel, you can rest assured that the staff will take care of you very well. The room was clean and spacious. Vinh Hung also offers free foot massage and free market experience, boat and swimming pool at their other hotel. Overall, a very nice stay!
Vintage hotel in a historical building and a great location right in the center of the old town”
Great location! On the main street of the old town and 1 min walk to the Covered Bridge. The room is a bit outdated, but hey, the building is more than a hundred years old, I think it’s very nicely kept, and the staffs put a lot of effort into making sure this historic building remains spotless. Although this old vintage building hotel doesn’t have any modern facilities so such as gym, swimming pool, spa, they however allows you to use those facilities in the more modern resort of the Vinh Hung Hotel chain, less than 10 min by walking. They also provide a complimentary free river boat trip, also departing from their new resort hotel.
Fantastic location”
This is a gorgeous little hotel right in the heart of the old town. It is a beautiful building that has been tastefully updated. The staff were wonderfully charming and couldn't do enough to make my stay as comfortable as possible ,even moving me to a downstairs room when they saw that I had a little difficulty with the stairs, I walk with a stick. That said if you are a light sleeper ask for an upstairs room as it was a little noisy, no problem for me. The rooms are spacious, suites really, and the bathrooms modern and well equipped. I would stay here again when visiting Hoi An.
Stunning hotel in the old town”
We had only one night here. It was my third time to Hoi An and I had always wanted to stay here. We had the room that the movie The Quiet American was filmed in and it did not disappoint! Stunning solid wood furniture, excellent location in the centre of the Old Town and typical Hoi An hospitality. The only disappointment was that there wasn't sufficient hot water for a bath in the amazing wooden bath. That's typical of Nam though they are still a developing country and many people do not have the luxury of running water so no big deal to me.
