Simply a beautiful hotel”

VOI Donna Camilla Savelli is an oasis of calm in a magnificent city. In the hotel, you have no sense of being in a city. Or even of being in a hotel. Restrained and luxurious as VOI Donna Camilla Savelli is, there is still the sense of being in the convent it once was. Designed by Borromini, for solitude it seems, the building invites quiet exploration, and offers many rewards both interior (small seating and reading areas) and exterior (a garden, a stunning rooftop terrace). Consummately attentive staff, lovely buffet breakfast, satisfaction for the eye wherever you look. There is a chapel in the hotel, with daily mass I think.

Excellent place in Rome”

Good location, immaculately clean fine rooms, excellent breakfast in elegant garden

Donna Camilla Savelli is the best place we stayed in Rome, this was our 4th visit. Great location, beautiful rooms and the best breakfast we ever had, served in a tranquille elegant formal garden. Wonderful view from the roof terrace over Rome! However, some of the rooms are facing towards the street and the windows have no seals at all allowing in all db of the traffic noise. We pointed this out to the staff and they really went out of their way to help us. They offered us to change rooms but the problem remained in another form -air condition outlets on the roof. We realized the hotel was almost fully booked and no chance for a room towards the garden and bought earplugs to use in the night and this worked just fine. To make the best even better it would take a little effort from the hotel management to adress the problem and put proper seals in the window, that would not only save on the electricity bills for air-con and heating but benefit the guests as well.

Charming hotel - The experience you want in Rome”

Rome is an amazing city overall, but Trastevere is definitely the neighborhood to stay at. Extremely beautiful streets, amazing restaurants, architecture that takes your breath away. The stay at Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel was very pleasant. The hotel has a unique kind of feel to it. Being an old monastery, the place possesses this amazing authenticity and charm that is impossible to manufacture.

Wish we could have stayed longer”

My wife and I stayed at Donna Camilla on the last night of our 3 week honeymoon. The hotel was incredibly romantic and adjacent to our favorite neighborhood in Rome. We started our 3 week adventure with 3 nights at a different hotel and wish we would have known about hotel DC prior to booking that hotel. We will definitely stay again when we return to Rome.

A jewel of a hotel”

Great location, beautiful hotel, great rooms, excellent service and coffee as good as it gets!!

From the minute we arrived at this hotel we were greeted with a smile from friendly, helpful staff. The hotel is situated close to the lovely area of Trastevere and within a few minutes walk of lovely cobbled streets full of bars, restaurants and shops. It is within easy walking distance of the Vatican area and most of the popular sites, although I would suggest using the local transport to save on weary legs, as some of the sites are a substantial walk away. The hotel itself is set in lovely grounds and the rooms are very spacious, clean and well appointed. There is a roof terrace with beautiful views over Rome. Breakfast is excellent offering a good choice of hot and cold foods and the best coffee. Staff are helpful and friendly and seemed more than happy to offer advice and recommendations. We were here on our honeymoon and I could not have been happier with our choice. A great hotel at an affordable price. I would happily recommend this hotel and would stay here again if we were to go back to Rome, which we surely will as it is a fantastic city.

Room 203 with a huge balcony, the attentiveness of the staff, the lovely garden.

Donna Camilla gets a 10 from me on customer service. They couldn't have been any friendlier or more helpful even packing us a to-go breakfast on our last morning as we had to leave at 4 AM for a 7 AM flight! Listen to all their suggestions for restaurants and how to get in and back from the city! They were phenomenal. Ask for Room 203 with the big balcony (its the only one!).

Mrs l Tayler from Scotland”

This hotel is a gem. In a convent designed by a great architect of the 1500's it is old and magnificent, in Trastevere and at the foothills of mount Giannicolo, one of the most beautiful and prestigious area of Rome. From a few hundred meters up form the hotel you can walk all the way to the Vatican in a short time overlooking the amazing panorama of Rome along a park full of fountains and statues. Going down you find yourself in an area full of restaurants and shops. The garden facing the cloister and the roof terrace in the hotel are really enchanting.

Great stay at Donna Camilla Savelli Hotel in Trastevere”

We had a great stay at this hotel. The location was great for us, easy walks to both Rome and the Vatican, as well as the Trastevere restaurant activity at night. The hotel was a truly a treasure and the staff were very friendly. We learned about the history of the hotel from the General Manager Elena Prandelli who was very gracious with her time and gave a great overview of the history. Amazing to stay in a place designed by Borromini which also has a cellar from Ancient Rome. Lastly, the view from the Terrace was amazing and a great place to share a drink at sunset. Thank you for a great experience!

Exceeded our expectations”

The hotel has a very unique and romantic characteristic, the staff has been very helpful and friendly. The daily breakfast buffet is simply amazing and that in combination with their beautiful garden. One piece of advice is to request a room with a look over the inner garden to make sure there is enough natural light in your room. The hotel is centrally located in the district Trastevere and we could do most of the sightseeing by foot. Would recommend it to anyone that is looking for a unique and romantic hotel in Rome.

Wonderful hotel in Trastevere.”

This hotel is in a former convent in the Trastevere neighborhood west of the Tiber. It’s a charming old place with good rooms, good AC, very nice outdoor space and a good breakfast buffet. Behind the hotel is a park with great views of Rome. The only small downside is the walk to central Rome can be a bit much in the summer heat.

Great hotel”

This hotel is in a very interesting old building well situated in Trastevere. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Great breakfast - we didn’t use the main restaurant this time. Our executive room was comfortable and spotless. Not huge, but with lots of character. We were there in the winter but the rooftop terrace looked inviting- a pool would be perfect but then the price would go up! We will definitely return to this charming hotel.

Great Hotel for experiencing Rome!”

this place is located in Trastevere, which is an amazing neighborhood to start and end your days by. food here is better than in the touristy center, and night-time atmosphere is great. the hotel has the right atmosphere of a mideval castle, and staff is very friencly. Breakfast is also very good, with exceptionally fresh ingridients. the hotel is a bit noisy, in some rooms you may hear the noise from outside, which for some reason seems to echo more than expected. in other rooms you'd here people going by the corridors up to the late hours and from quite early in the morning, and again, echo is surprisingly heard.

Beautiful hotel in perfect location”

Peaceful and lovely hotel positioned near the heart of lively Trastevere. Walking distance to all the sites and east reach to bus stops where you can connect to the metro. However no complimentary bottle of water and no coffee or tea making facilities. A letter was given out stating that no outside food or beverages should be consumed within the room. This was rather unusual and not exactly welcoming. The google map on my iPhone for some reason directed us to the back entrance on via del .Panieri. When the name of the hotel and address is put in search. However given the beautiful architecture and peaceful and convenient location of the hotel and the sumptuous breakfast, it is still worth staying despite the cons.

Great historical venue, Nice gardn with great breakfast, Staff speaks good English and was very helpful

We stayed for 2 nights in this hotel to do signt seeing of Rome. The venue seems to be old and historical, yet maintained in good condition with spoltless clean. We wanted to feel and touch the history of Rome, so it was the best choice for us. There are many restaurant around the hotel and it is noisy until late although it was really quit and calm inside of the hotel. Only one negative part would be the distance from the station. It was more than 10 minutes walk from the station, and you have to take bus/train to go many historical center.

Everything about this hotel worked for us. It’s in a great neighbourhood (Bramante’s Tempietto just up the road; more fab art to see in Villa Farnesina) plus Trastevere is a wonderful place to wander around. The staff couldn’t be more friendly and helpful. Our room overlooked the very pretty garden and was comfortable, clean and very warm in chilly February but you could also open the windows. We were delighted with our stay. The physical plant is an oasis of calm in Trastavere, only a few blocks from the energy of the neighborhood. Bedroom was very comfortable. Bathroom was highly functional. The entire facility has managed to capture the spirit of the historic building with all modern conveniences. The staff was exceptionally helpful. The breakfast each morning was available for long hours and was fresh and tasty. Would absolutely stay here again for a trip to Rome, understanding that you are a short walk away from the major tourist sights on the other side of the river and that public transportation in Rome should be viewed as essentially absent. You will walk and walk but enjoy everything you see along the way.

Excellent hospitality and lovely amenities ”

We were greeted with excellent hospitality, letting us check in slightly before the check in time. We were escorted to our room, which was lovely. Most importantly the bed was comfy and the air conditioning worked. It was near some restaurants. I wish it was a little closer to bus lines, as it made it a little bit of a track to catch the bus to go see the Coliseum and such, but otherwise this was an amazing stay. They arranged a ride to the airport for us in the morning, and even had a boxed breakfast for us because we were departing before the breakfast at the hotel began. I would gladly stay here again, and wish all of my stay in Rome had been here.
