VP Hotel Review”
The bed was a queen size, with television, refrigerator, water heater, hair dryer, and complimentary water and coffee. The room was quite small but the hotel was close to the MTR. The staff were friendly and speaks English. There was no restaurant inside the hotel.
It was more than I expected”
The rooms were quite small, but they seem to be recently renovated and very clean and well kept. Lots of plugs for your gadgets, too! Not much room for luggage, though, but by HK standards I guess this would be normal. It is far and away one of the best low cost hotels you can get in HK. I wasn't expecting much for what we paid, but it exceeded my expectations. We were almost going to book one of the Chung King hostels out of desperation, then we found this. For just a bit more, we had the security of a hotel that had 24-hour front desk, its own building, easily accessible by airport bus or regular bus, just 5-7 minutes walk to Prince Edward MTR station, and a relatively quiet area with none of the horror stories you would read about in the Chung King hostels. The staff speak very good English, and was able to give us directions to the places we needed to go. Do yourself a favor. If you are on a tight budget and need accommodations in Hong Kong, consider VP Hotel. It's really really good.
First. Value for money. There is no value for money in Hong Kong. Hong Kong is an expensive trap. Food is good, the locals are interesting. The living is interesting. But, there is 'no value'. The VP was good for Hong Kong. But, that says nothing. The desk staff were helpful.
Nice place and friendly crew”
This was a nice change from the staid business hotels - friendly folk working there, nice rooms, decent bathrooms. It seems like a new place, and nicely located, only about 5 minutes walk to Prince Edward station. Probably slightly overpriced at hkd$750. Internet was a hassle, have to keep clicking a 'firewall redirect' link every 30 minutes, but at least it was fast. I'd recommend this place.
its near prince edward MTR station, exit from exit C and is just a 8 mins walk to the hotel. Lots of nice food nearby, 7-11 and supermarket are just located opp. compare to other hotel with similar price, the room consider slightly bigger. staff are friendly.
I requested for a non-smoking room and yet I got a room stinking with cigarette butts and smell. I was traveling with kids/infant too and it was not a pleasant experience. The room is really small so its not convenient and comfortable to share with kids even though they advertise it that kids can join the room. I suggest that if you choose this hotel and youre traveling with kids, purchase another type of room or go to another hotel. The location is far from MTR too so. A walking distance of 10-15mins.
Good staff and Reasonable price!”
Above all things, staff was nice and kind. I was very pleased with that. The price was reasonable. So if you're individual traveler, VP hotel will be the choice without regret. But it located a little bit suburb from hub of city.(It is located nearby Prince Edward Station.) So don't forget to charge your octopus card enough.
I stayed here last 2016 and I stayed here again this time with my entore family..nice place, clean and affordable
Worth the price. ”
Few minutes away from tge MTR. Nearby Mcdonalds and grocery stores. Not the cheapest but the size and wuality of the rooms are far better than cheap hotels in Chungking Mansion.
Clean room and Comfy Bed”
Room is quite bigger than any budget hotels around mongkok. Very clean and they got all what you need for the stay.
Quiet room with good value”
The hotel is somewhere in the middle of the Prince Edward and the Sham Shui Po stations and is situated in a quiet street (Maple Street) . The room is on the top floor with not much of a view which is perfect as it is pretty quiet. There are only a few rooms on one floor which means for most of the time the corridor is free of travelers. The double bed is wide with enough room for a big guy to stretch though the mattress is a little hard by European standard. In general, I had quite a pleasant stay with an excellent coffee shop (Urban coffee roaster) and a hip bar (Bound by Hillywood) and local eateries close by.
Loved our stay!”
Quite a small room but it was reasonable for the price. Clean comfort room as well. The staff (esp. the lady in the noontime shift) was extra nice and accommodating. They all speak english well and attended to your needs. Also walking distance (10-30 mins) away from MTR & Mongkok where the street foods and night market is. Had a great stay and will definitely stay here again!
OK for the tourists.”
1. Abt 12mins to the MTR Sham Shui Po on foot. 2. The room is small and a little old but is OK for the tourists who just need to rest and sleep. 3. 500HKD deposit. 4. There are 711, Macdonald, Cafe de Coral, wellcome supermarket, etc. nearby.
Good but far from MTR station”
This is a small and rather old looking hotel and the reception area is just a small counter. The reception staff attending to me spoke English and was courteous and efficient, and each time I pass by the counter the people there would smile and say hello which I appreciated very much. Had to carry my luggage up a few steps of stairs to reach the lift because there is no ramp so be mindful of that. The room is rather big by HK standard and although facing the main road it was very quite. Big and clean toilet and shower room. In room wi-fi was intermittent and unreliable. Furnishing is old and dated but everything was cleans so I have no issues. Location is not so good, it is quite a far walk away from the nearest MTR station so would not recommend it for those with mobility issues or during rainy season.
Cheap but not recommended”
I can said that the Owner totally not running a Hotel, just to rent out the room. How could you so stingy till not on the "SIGNBOARD" light if you are running a hotel business!! How could you assume the foreigner able to know where is the location? According to neighbourhood, the Owner not on the light because he just doing the online booking. All guest was paid before check in. No refund are allowed. Not even the local people know this is a hotel. This hotel really failed to running hospitality service such as: 1. No proper direction (Signboard totally no light on) 2. Not suitable for family especially for old people and kid 3. Room not that clean, bed sheet not change after the previous guest check out 4. Front desk not really friendly, I feel this is because of the Owner if I am not mistaken lol 5. Air cond totally not good function as the Owner adjusted it to low and slow. I can tell to all that totally not function and stop itself. We are meet up the Housekeeping, he is provided a good relationship with guest. I can said that I recommend the housekeeping staff of this hotel. All the above are based on a guest and Hotelier advise. I can said that I do not like to give bad comment but this is really a bad image for all hotel. You can see the signboard at main door is VP apartment and on the corner is VP hotel. I gave all this comment based on 3 rooms I booked and just to voice out to the Owner, time to change a bit for running a hotel
Got what I paid for”
Cheap. Rooms were small, but bearable for 2 people. Bathroom smelled bad, leftover trash from last guest. My cousin and I ended up buying cleaning supplies, and cleaning it ourselves. Room itself was comfortable enough. The MTR station was a bit far, doable after the first time though. Not recommended for small kids. Local eateries around, just need to walk a bit. Overall, not bad since it was so cheap, but I definitely got what I paid for.
Valued for money, Clean andcomfortable”
We stayed at VP hotel for 2 nights. Room is clean and comfortable with neccessary facilities. Staff are kind and helpful. Valued for money. Walking distance to MTR. Mcdonald is just opposite the hotel. Not noisy at all.
Walking distance from Prince MTR ”
Walking distance from Prince MTR . Nothing much to complain for this price category . First timer to HK will find it difficult to locate this Guesthouse . Suitable for transit or stopover traveller only
Quite good hotel”
The biggest pain was internet. Wifi is very unstable. After using the cable the stability was good, but speed isnt good enough if u need to be in touch with family or you need it for work. Windows arent good silencers to sounds from street. Room was cleaned daily, daily fresh water, towels. Staff was really friendly and helpful.
