Perfect Auckland CBD location”

Centrally located, close to many dining options and excellent staff

Really enjoyed staying at VR Queen Street, easily accessed by the city link bus and just around the corner from inner link bus stop on the k road, and the airbus stop is just across the road. There are so many eateries nearby. Very comfy room, but sound proofing could be better as noise gets around the windows between rooms. Staff service was excellent and complimentary breakfast was substantial

Friendliest accommodation in Auckland”

That is what we were told by the concierge on our first night and we could not disagree. Nothing was too much trouble, there was always a smile and a friendly greeting. The lobby and lift always had lovely scents, the rooms were quiet, the air conditioner/heater worked brilliantly and whatever we wanted from extra towels to a pot to green tea was promptly produced. We did not know about the hilly nature of Auckland before arriving and so having the hotel located on the top of one of the hills meant much exercise but that was okay as the hotel was very central and close to many amenities - restaurants, buses, parks, etc. We would have liked a toilet roll holder that was more secure so that the roll did not fall off and perhaps a new carpet would have been nice as the one in our room could have been cleaner and with no pulled threads. But we would definitely recommend the hotel.

Room, Cleanliness, Location

What a fantastic hotel. I came across this hotel and the reviews were great. Perfect location as it is at the heart of downtown Auckland, awesome cleanliness, and great transformation as this hotel used to be a commercial building. I would definitely go back. 1 Bedroom + kitchenette.

My friend and I were staying in Auckland for 5 days and honestly couldn’t have asked for a better place to stay! The location was close to everything! There was plenty of restaurants and shopping all within walking distance of the hotel! We arrived a couple hours early for our check in but the staff were so helpful and allowed us to drop off our bags so we could grab a bite to eat! The check in was so easy and stress free - a total dream! The room itself was so clean and well equipped! The staff were always so kind and polite! I would stay here again in a heart beat!

Great Hotel in the city”

we love that hotel has a great functional kitchen. The bathroom is clean with an awesome shower. Beds and tv comfy and well positioned as we were a bit lazy and watched a few movies

Our six night stay was great. Have been twice and will come again. The only thing for us that was a bit of a pain was the parking. Is too expensive for us to justify paying for the hotel car park at 28NZD a night and wilson car parking across the road was similar, so being from Auckland we parked in Grey Lynn and walked to the hotel. Other than this hotel is clean, quiet and comfortable. Has free wifi and staff were lovely.

Great location ”

We had a room on the 7th floor with a view overlooking upper queen street. Rooms do look bigger in the photos but still enough room for us. The king size bed was surprisingly comfortable given it was a soft mattress and we are use to a firm one. Also pleasantly surprised that even though we were on the main street it was quite quiet so we had a great sleep both nights. Plenty of eateries within walking distance if you dont want to walk right down to the viaduct. Did not eat at the restaurant so not able to comment on the food. Our greeting was very professional, even tho I checked in in shorts and a singlet and I have plenty of tattoos. I have found at some places we have stayed (and we travel both within NZ and overseas regularly each year) that my appearance can influence the way myself and my wife are greeted. Not the case here. On our 2nd night we did return to our room and we had no towels in our bathroom. I phoned recept and in 5 mins we had towels. Well done VR. Will be back

Easy to find even those Auckland traffic can be busy. A tight entrance to the carpark but plenty of space inside. The room was a good size and clean, a very comfortable bed and brilliant shower. Small kitchen had all the things to heat up a meal and chill drinks. No remote for the TV which was slightly annoying. The staff were pleasant and friendly.

Beyond expectation ”

Cleanliness, service and location

Surprised by the cleanliness and order in my room. Stayed there for 2 nights to attend a friends graduation. I was drawn to the honesty that the room made note of its size, that it be compact. And really it wasn't. There was a stove, oven, dishwasher provided. And the room did not have a trace of cooking smell that had me concerned. It's along queen street too, which made me feel I got real value for what I paid.

Room was big & clean”

We were given this room by Agoda as our original hotel cancelled our booking at the very last min. (2-3 days prior to check in). As we were already in Auckland, we had no choice but to accept this arrangement. Hotel was clean, room was big. Lobby was small thou. We rented a car & the carpark space is quite limited. Hotel staff was friendly. We walked to the city centre, & it took us ard 15-20 mins. the road back was difficult due to the steep angle the hotel was in. Other than that, it was quite a good stay.

Good walk from the town back to hotel. Did not manage to find the hotel when I am coming from Auckland airport, had to push the luggage down the steep slope. However, it is easy to go to town from the hotel. Skybus to Auckland airport is directly across the road, so making it fairly easy when leaving.

Super small room and not sound proof”

Location

Check-in was set at 3pm although we arrived at 1pm couldn't check-in as e front desk said e room was not ready. We return to e hotel to check in again at 5pm. Found that there was only one bath towel. so much for getting it ready... Anyway e most disappointing thing is that e room is very very small. Two of us had to hop on e bed to get to our small luggage as there was hardly room for us to walk. I booked a queen suite. Oh well perhaps if we were hobbits we would fit nicely. Another thing is that e room was not sound proof. When a neighbour closes his door, our door also trembled as if someone's trying to bang it down! Scared me at first. And passing traffic is loud. I feel e price is reasonable since its location is along Queen Street. But I'd not stay here again.

City Break”

The staff the location,the room

We had a good stay, the room was very small and much smaller than the photo used in the advertising. I mentioned this to the reception and they put us in a bigger room without any problem. The staff were helpful and friendly. The bed was comfy and the room well equipped but very sterile and bland with that corporate feel of a chain hotel. However the location was fantastic for where we were going and we were able to relax in the room with a cold wine from the fridge before we went out. There was no alchohol in the room which I quite liked and the fridge was a big size to bring your own things, much better than being stung by overpriced hotel wine. I wouldn't rate it 5 star as I would want a hotel to feel a bit more luxurious. I think it should be a 4 star. Having said all this for what we wanted on that night it was great. Functional, practical but don't take your girlfriend there to propose.
