Holiday in Japan is meaningless without staying at Ryokan, Japanese home style. Before going holiday, we searched so many in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka as our destination to these 3 cities and decided to stay at hotel in Tokyo & Kyoto while as our last day in Osaka for only 1 day staying at Ryokan to avoid can't sleep well. Staying at hotel Tokyo and Kyoto is typical Japan's hotel, small space, hardly can't move for 2 persons and even open 2 luggages, however it's not happened in Wafu Ryokan Uehonmachi! Only 200m distance walk from Osaka Uehonmachi subway St which connected with Tanimachi 9 chrome St subway, we found the small building besides the ramen shop (the same owner with Ryokan). Arrived at 1.30pm, we thought that we only keep the luggages as the check in time in Japan is 3pm, however the owner was letting us in. The room is much bigger than our hotel at Tokyo and Osaka, we can move easily and open 2 luggages as well. Can't find the wifi connection and called the owner, he's helping us fast and well. Definitely will come back in this Ryokan once we're at Osaka, recommended for 3 persons max 😃

Great value for money, good location”
Ryokan Uehonmachi was just right for us. We chose annex apartment because we read about noise in the review, which worked out just perfectly. The apartment was wide enough for us, family of 4. Though cleaning is not done as it would be in a hotel and we had to make our own bed(futon) we were so happy about the location(just 2 min frm the station) and the wide room. Can't get this kind of deal in a big city like Osaka.

Excellent staff and Ryokan experience”
We are a family of four and only a 6-person Japanese room was available at the time of booking. The room is huge with cozy Japanese style decorations, and the price is very reasonable compared to other hotels available at the busy summer time. Bathroom is small but provate with everything we need. We arrived later than 9pm and didn't notice the policy to contact the property for late arrival in advance until we were about to board the plane from Sapporo to Osaka. We contacted Mr. Lee listed on the hotel's Special Check-in instructions, and was happy to learn that he could pick us up from the airport at a discount as hotel guests. That was a great help for our family especially with my 81-year old mother and all the luggages. On the day we left for Tokyo, Mr. Lee and another hotel staff also drove us to the JR station where we could arrive at our Tokyo destination without any transfers, and they gave us the great suggestion to purchase the free seating JR tickets. Mr. Lee made sure we got the right tickets before he left the station. The location of the hotel is convenient for sight seeings in Osaka or Kyoto with the Uehonmachi station just 2 minutes away on foot.

Great location & helpful staff”
The place is just a 3 minute walk from osaka Uehonmachi station and is surrounded by restaurants and is also near a super market. The place was fairly new and clean. Very ideal for a big group however there's only one bathroom per unit and the staircase going up to the rooms is quite narrow. We love the overall design of the place. It was relaxing and they provided the essentials we needed. They even have a car service to and fro the airport which is truly convenient. We would definitely stay again.

Value-for-money for families”
Wafu Ryokan is conveniently located near a train station and has clean and well-maintained rooms for large families/groups. It could accommodate 7 of us in one room making it truly value-for-money.

Very nice Location and value for money”
We stayed at the 'Ryokan' (japanese) style room for 4 where we sleep on a folding matress on the floor. Very authentic feel while being in Japan. Some take aways... Positive: 1. Very near the train station. 1 station away from Dotonburi & Shinsaibashi Shopping Street. 2. Clean Rooms and restroom. 3. Near convenient stores and there is a Ramen house just beside the building. 4. Value for money. 5. With mini ref and perculator for hot coffee in the morning. 6. Offers airport transfers at a very reasonable price. Needs Improvement. 1. Add a microwave perhaps. 2. Only 1 big mirror and 1 small mirror and no clocks. Guests could use a whole body mirror or something bigger than one in the bathroom since the room can accommodate 4 people. 3. There was 1 time when the room was cleaned but then our things were scattered everywhere, (toothbrush & toothpaste on the side of the TV, Shampoo and razors on top of the dining table, when we left everything is in the bathroom) nothing was lost but our things should still be in the same place where we left it and just clean the room. This happened only 1 time during our entire stay. Other days, the room was just cleaned with fresh towels and everything else in order. 4. takes time to reply to email request for airport transfers. we were a little worried that we did not receive confirmation on the amount on how much we need to pay for the airport transfers. But they picked us up on time and let us pay upon arrival. 5. Can also improve their communication in English since not everybody in the reception can understand english.

Definitely would stay again!”
The actual resident is not the same as the address given, it is in a more private and discrete apartment, quiet and a lot of privacy. It is not too far from the stations and the things around, and if you ever need, there's a hospital beside it. The things in the room are slightly more used than what's in the pictures, but the beds and other sanitary things are nice and clean. The room is smaller than picture, but the actual space is pretty big especially there is an L shape balcony that you can step out and hang clothes, not to mention there are a lot of natural light if you ever so desire to open the blinds. As for transportation, it is very convenient to other places or station, and walking distance are not bad either, but I do recommend buying day pass if you are traveling to Osaka, it'll be worth it than buying station to station. Overall, we love the place and will definitely stay again when we visit Osaka.

Good bang for the buck”
Traveled in group of three and naturally there weren't too many options. Wafu turned out to be a decent choice given our constraints. Location is convenient if you are travelling around using the Kintetsu railway (eg going to Namba, Nara, Kyoto etc.), but you'll probably need to walk substantially more if you are taking the subway. One extra star on the staff for the fair handling of a broken electric kettle during our stay.

Strange little place”
I'm afraid I can't recommend this one. I booked it because I really wanted a Japanese style inn, and these seem to be in short supply in Osaka. But Wafu Ryokan Uehonmachi felt frankly fly-by-night. There is no one at the front desk; you have go down the alley past the ramen shop to check in. They lock the front door at midnight. When I went to check out (at 7:45am) there was no one at the office behind the ramen shop and no one answering the phone, either. I waited until 8 am and still no one showed up. It was prepaid, so I just left the key and left. Also, while the room did have tatami, they were smaller and thinner than the usual type and not nearly as comfortable. The futon also was substandard. No Japanese-style bath, but at least this was clear from the website.

We apologized for the inconvenience this time. We have improved in the environment and so on. we have the staff at the front desk this year ,and don't lock the door .We look forward to your stay again.
Comfortable stay at an affordable price”
Very near to Osaka-Uehommachi subway station. There're buses to Kansai and Osaka airport nearby. One subway stop away or half an hour away walking distance away from Namba . Delicious ramen store next door will give you a 10% discount if you tell them you are staying at this place. Our room can easily fit four to five people with no problem at all.

Very close to the station (around 3 mins walk) and easy to find by using google map. Nice and clean room. There is a restaurant serving ramen next to this ryokan. The ramen is very delicious...really yummy:).

We were in another building advertised as an annex but it was a block away in flats and so we did not have the Ryokan experience as we wanted. We were given a complimentary breakfast though which made up for oyr disappointment.

Not bad”
Finding the hotel was hard at first because the location of the hotel is not posted in google maps for directions. Other than that I find the location of the hotel very accessible because it is near Osaka-Uennomachi station. Hotel staff are very friendly especially Karen who gave us food coupon to a nearby ramen store near the hotel. She's also vert fluent in English.

Very disappointed!”
Don't be fooled by the pictures you see in their ads. The only good thing about this place is its location. It's very near the subway station (uehhonmachi), food stalls (kfc, mc do, baskin robbins, family mart, mos burger, subway, etc.), department stores (kintetsu...) udon house, yoshinoya, etc. This ryokan is quite clean but the staffs are very, very noisy (Chinese speaking japanese) and since the (21/2) structure is made of wood (floors, walls and ceilings) , you will hear a lot of walking and talking. You can even hear conversations from the other rooms loud and clear. The doors are not sealed enough (you'll see space between the floor and door that will fit your hands!) They provided us with very thin bed sheets and no room cleaning for four days. The T&B is very small (5' x 6' only!). The staff will knock hard on your door everytime they will give towel, etc. Surely will never recommend!

Great location, simple, basic accommodation”
Generally it was a great stay, they have the basics and the location is superb. Pros: Great location - near train stations, bus station (kix direct bus), near supermarket and convenience stores, lots of restaurants around the neighborhood, near intl fast food chains like mcdo and kfc, near malls (hihi town and yufura), near tax free shops, quiet neighborhood Clean - they clean the room/change towels daily Porch - we stayed in the 3rd floor and we love the porch with pocket garden where we had some al fresco meals Cons: Thin walls - you can hear people talking from another room Small bathroom No Microwave

Good stay for groups”
Recommended if you're travelling with a big family or group. Located within 5 minutes of the subway station. Room was a bit noisy during working hours due to the ramen shop located next door (which is excellent by the way), but otherwise everything was fine.
