Great location with a good price”
The hotel is close to Causeway bay and the horse racing racecourse. Tourists are recommended to stay at this hotel. You can find anything you would like nearby, even nightlife activities!!
Nice room and facilities but be carefull not to get caught in a trap for any food/snacks and water inside the room because when you check out they will charge you for a tripple price. staff never inform that there is a charge..and one thing i notice with the staff at the counter is they're not friendly, unlike other hotel staff that they're happy to entertain guests...
Perfect location for the HK Convention Center. Near restaurants and shopping places. Quiet and able to sleep well.
bad service front desk”
front desk service very bad
Old hotel with mini washroom”
I reserved a standard room but was assigned with an economy single room with super mini washroom! The water basin in the washroom was like a bowl size! I can’t even wash my hands without water falling out onto the floor! The bath area was super mini too! Can’t stand a man there!
Very basic, but good value for money
This hotel not providing correct information on room facilities. Some hotel rooms don't have fridge and guest wasn't notified at time of check-in. When making enquiry with reception, a night shift staff was very rude. Frame the guest that he should know no fridge in room when booking online. Ridiculous during Hong Kong's summer season (towards the end) a hotel room has no facilities allowing guest to enjoy a cold drink. I strongly warning travellers avoid booking this hotel. in same area, similar prices, similar room size, there is a genuine hotel The Charterhouse hotel, which provides proper hotel facilities and services plus in-house restaurants.
Good value hotel in remote location”
Walden Hotel is in a remote location which is surrounded by lot of restaurants, cafes, and convenience stores.: 7 minutes walk to HKTDC & Wanchai ferry port, A11 bus to the airport is just 3 minutes away by walk. The staff (a gentleman) is very polite and professional. Room is big comparing to other 3 stars hotel’s rooms in Hong Kong and clean despite the fact that furnitures look a bit old. They don’t provide welcome bottles of water but it shouldn’t be a big problem since you can easily get it via a convenience store close by. Nice experience staying in the hotel. Highly recommended! Will definitely come back!
no free bottled water the vents are too noisy the bed is good
Good value for good location”
Wouldn't recommend visiting Hong Kong at this particular time in general but the hotel itself has very clean room and bathroom. No room fridge is an inconvenience as I like i stock various drinks for myself but location is central enough and convenient
central location, good value for money”
conveniently located between causeway bay and wanchai MTR stations, clear rooms, friendly & helpful staff This isn't the newest hotel in the area but you get good value for money and the rooms are more spacious than in some other nearby hotels.
Pathetic experience ”
Very unhelpful staff. When we told them we need to cancel our further booking in lieu of unrest in Hong Kong, there was absolutely no response from them. Forget about showing concern... they just didn’t want to refund and have let our money go down the drains. Very bad on their part not to even revert back... do not recommend this hotel to anyone
67 uSd not bad but no free water & older rooms”
Rooms and toilet are in need of refresh, scratches and streaks on walls/doors; floors a bit dusty in harder to reach places. Towels got worse each day of stay when replaced, started nice and fluffy ended up thin and with a hole but at least replaced daily. Basic soap, shampoo, toilet paper, toothbrush. No bidet vs other hotels in area. No free local calls in room where other hotels in the area lend you a handy cellphone with free mobile data and free local calls at similar rates. Previously they supplied bottled water every day, no longer. Smokers tend to hang around the outside of entrance waiting for massage on lower floor. Hotel is along main road near buses or tram but far from subway. Plenty of small eateries nearby within a block or 3. Fire station, bakeries, wet market (fresh fruits, veg, meats, fish, and takeaway roasted meats) and Times Square mall at walkable distance. They have a baggage holding area useful when they won't give late check out, sometimes can give 30 minutes
Very poor, reception dont even bother to assist the guests in booking a taxi and help with luggages, no complimentary waterand coffee. WIFI very slow, carpets very old. Extra pillow smells bad and reception asked for deposit of $500 which it could have been used for other expenses
This is an old hotel, the rooms are very well equipped. The only drawback is that the central air conditioner is noisy.
Room, furniture and carpet are bit old. Staff is not very friendly. Location is far from mtr station”
Air con in room is not cold enough. Lift is very hot n airless. But if you just need a bed and shower, it is okay.
Halal food, near to MTR , Tram and Airport Bus”
Nearer to all Halal food, Bubble tea, mall and public transport. Recommended for traveller with minimise budget.
Clean and quiet, spacious enough”
The room is cleanded everyday. Linens and towels are new and white, but the pillows are smelly. The comfort room is nice and spacious too, with bath tub, but there's no bidet. Almost complete facilities (hair dryer, cabinet, electric kettle, tv), but no refigerator. Location is good, 5 min walk from causeway bay mtr station, and to bus stops. It is located along the highway where you could find almost a lot of independent stores (watsons, miniso, park n shop, bestmart, 711) and restaurants nearby. (Kfc, mcdo and jollibee). Ten minutes away from the wanchai market). Staffs are nice but you cannot rely on directions, maybe because they speak very little english.
this s a basic hotel for just staying a few nights, no expectations beyond a bed, clean, and wifi that works. Staff is quite nice and helpful, very efficient. between Causway Ba and WanChai, can walk to most entertainment.
Great Value for the money”
Not close to the MTR but also not to far. Staff are friendly and helpful bed little hard. Good restaurants in the area close to shops bus and ding ding stop very near.
room size is big, considering its hongkong. Sound insulation is good, barely can hear any noise from other rooms.
4D 3N stay ”
Room is a bit small for the family with young children. Pay in HKD is cheaper than using credit card. Overall rating is satisfactory.
Old and I felt it was dirty
Nice hotel in WanChai”
Good room, and nice location. It is a few blocks from the Wanchai night scene, but very easy by the doubledecker tram right out the front door.
Too small and beat-up for the price. HK is generally way too expensive for what you get.
Great location in the heart of the town. Easy to get arround. Good room with amenities. ”
Rather old new. Needs some improvement. Carpet needs to be renewed. Table chair surely needed the one with the back support behind. Staff at the receptions prefferably needed to be more friendly.
very good location for business , airport bus pick up/drop off point just in 50m , the room is clean, and toiler size is good enough .
Hotel has stopped many complementary items, like bottles of water in the room, removed refrigerator from room, no instant coffee or tea is provided either. Very uncomfortable steel stool instead of a chair for the desk in the room.
Price is equal quality! Its just an optimal place to stay if you are going to save some money!”
Price is covering all cons if say shortly..
This was my first stay but I would not recommend it to anyone. The room really needs a face lift. The actual room is very warn out and no where near the photo featured.
Good location. Spacious compared with other hotels in Hongkong that i know.
One night Stay”
Just used this hotel for one night stay at end of long stay in HK. Good location to Wan Chai nightlife but bit far from MTR. Rooms clean but slightly outdated and carpet means slight old smell but overall good value for money given location.
Rooms need upgrade”
Unbelievably, the refrigerators have been removed from all rooms. Rooms are not clean, carpets soiled. Towels are old and worn out rags....
In need of repairs or refurbishment ”
Booked this hotel because it was cheap but in a great location, first time I have stayed three stars in HK so didn’t know what to expect. The place was old, had marks on the walls and a hinge was broken on one of the cupboards, it was clean but some people would be put off by the marks on the walls etc. it wouldn’t take much to fix that place up (new carpets and curtains etc) all thought I wouldn’t stay there again, if you are looking to do HK on the cheap it’s an option. Staff were great always said good morning/afternoon when you walked in or out
very not good...personnal are not great and this hotel very to much expensive for everything at anytime
The location is very good. Walking distance from Wan Chai Station and lot of restaurants nearby. The room is not too big and not too small, it is clean but they need to re-paint the wall. The staff can speak English.
Bed not comfortable”
Bed too hard and uncomfortable
Location wise, we’re ok. Sad to say this hotel is too old. To ask $500 deposit upon check-in is rediculous. I don’t understand with this kind of hotel. We didn’t enjoy staying here🙁. I believe this hotel need to do renovation by now.
This was my second stay at the Walden hotel, my previous stay having been in March 2017. I found that the hotel standard had deteriorated over these past two years: there was no mini-bar in my room, only an empty cupboard, no coffee/tea the room was quite smelly, and the walls quite dirty. some of the staff at the reception was quite unpleasant, too.
Location was good”
Indeed was a good location but hotel seems old and cleanliness can be improved
in the heart of the town”
pick this hotel for shopping and business for day is good. size is acceptable in hong kong but bit old in deco and funiture.
location is very good ”
Hotel location is very good. However facilities is not that good .
Good bargain consider the excellent location. Facility is a bit old but with all basic accessories (shampoo / toothbrush etc). Cleanliness has lots of room to improve (bath towel are quite dirty). "ok" for a short stay
You will not get the special feel like a customer, but its ok to stay as locality is in center of the town, close to one of the best scenic view (Golden behunia square)
Picked wrong date to visit got stuck with high rates.”
I understand that at certain seasons you're not getting the best cheap rate but to hit you with expensive rate and not get at least early check in and late check out or extra amenities... An upgrade would have been nice but nope not this time. Not even to lend umbrella? Portable wifi? Fruit basket? Nope. Safe was not working as batteries were swollen and dead. Real cheap stool (only 1 in room) was not comfortable to use, down right flimsy. Walls are dirty (not filthy, needs a fresh coat of paint or a good scrub) and scratched perhaps from previous guest use without proper clean up. There's a 'welcome basket' of snacks but the contents are not complimentary, should have been for peak season prices. To be fair if the room were around US$50-70 then that would be fine but over a US$120? Nope. Not sure if just bad luck but entry way to hotel was full of smokers or stale smoke also at the time of our stay. Perhaps due to massage parlor on another floor had long waiting time so smoked ther
Staff was very rude to Talk and not helpful at all
Moldy stink, dirtiness feeling, walls stained. Not even 1 proper chair or luggage rack. I made the mistake to go there for the second time. There will be not a third one.
