Exiting living in genuine room where everything is left since the maharadja and marahani lived here.
Stayed here with teenagers, loved the history and artefacts room. Felt like royalty, beautiful rooms”
A little out of Hampi, but still worth it for a short stay. Staff very helpful with tours
Palace in a Budget ”
Very nice hotel and staff , slightly away from hampi around 35 kms . Excellent place for staycation . Food is good . Facilities amazing
Rooms are very good, king size. Facilities are also good. Good staff It is palace, one can experience the life style of king.
ITC Shivavilas Palace is an amazing place for business and pleasure. Situated in the middle of nowhere, it has all the amenities of modern world and their staff is totally awesome !! An example - when we were getting late for departure in evening and could not eat dinner but seeing that kids would be hungry on way to destination, staff offered to parcel the food along with some snacks for kids - Loved this service.
Wonderful palace stay”
A beautiful building with lovely rooms. Pool was very clean and mostly empty so lovely to cool off in. All the staff were amazing - very friendly and helpful. Only downside is the distance from Hampi (one hour by car, approx Rs 3000 for car and driver), but we knew this and thought it worth it to stay somewhere so special.
Trip to Hampi”
This hotel is located at Sandur about 40 kms away from Heritage city Hampi. A small, comfortable and well maintained property. An ideal location for people wanting to be away from hustle bustle of a tourist place. The hotel is a converted Palace which maintains a aura of the bygone era. Sandur is beautiful and best visited after Monsoons (Sep-Oct).
We spent wonderful three nights at the Palace. Very friendly and helpful staff. Wonderful room with wonderful view.
A charming property in every way! ”
This is a lovely hotel with lots of charm and interesting history. It’s very relaxing and a real escape. There is plenty to do and look at within the hotel such as the games room with table tennis or the nice pool for a swim. You can find lots of lovely seating areas just to relax, chat or read too. The rooms are beautiful and very comfortable with large private balconies. It is an hours drive to visit Hampi but the peace and quiet and feeling of being in such a beautiful environment makes that journey worthwhile.
Beautiful palace and amazing staff!”
We really appreciated our stay at Shivavilas Palace, the room was big and clean, the staff was perfect: humble, smiling and always ready to help us, especially Mr. Praveen and Mr. Sameer ; who went out of their way to assist us and offer discounted tour packages. A special thanks to the wonderful driver from the palace, Fayaz, who drove us daily safely to hampi assisting us alot in exploring the sites. Food was also very good, homely, not a lot of choice but delicious. However, we should mention that the palace is far away from Hampi, in a place called Sudur which is a rural area where no shops or restaurants are available (Hampi-40 Kms, Hosapete - 28 Kms ), so that a taxi is highly needed if you don't want to take local buses (by bus it takes about 1 hr 30 min from Sudur). Amenities in the palace could also be refurbished a bit to give it a more modern look but its on a personal taste, people loving old fashioned style might find it good.
Lovely stay and excellent staff”
Had a wonderful couple of days. Everyone so friendly and helpful. Food very good and excellent value. Slightly ‘faded opulence ‘. The only issue was that we wanted a couple of days chilling as spending a month travelling. We chose the hotel as it had a swimming pool. Unfortunately no one communicated to say that the pool was empty and full of workers. The staff were very apologetic and made us a private Sun bathing area on a balcony.
Although some distance from Hampi, well worth the drive to be looked after in beautiful, peaceful surroundings after a long day sightseeing. Would absolutely recommend highly
A very well restored palace, originally built in the early 1900s. Almost 20 acres of land , a small town, greenery all around - the place is perfect for a weekend spent doing nothing. The staff really made difference at the place. Polite and helpful, went out of their way to make our stay pleasant and enjoyable.
A wonderful stay!”
The staff here are so welcoming amd the location is perfect for seeing Hampi.
Most lovely place. Thoroughly good and enjoyable.”
We had a great experience staying at this lovely place, which was literally a palace until a few years ago. Very old-timey but with all mod cons. Excellent staff, large and well-appointed, airy rooms, pool, huge grounds, vintage cars, good food. Large bathroom with shower and bath. Good wi-fi. Location is a bit far from Hampi but other travellers may find the location entirely handy. Would come back here in a heartbeat, really loved our two nights' stay here. The manager stayed late to welcome us and check us in, excellent service.
an unexpectedly charming hotel at the end of a very bad road!”
We were a bit disappointed that the hotel is nearly an hour's drive from the ruins at Hampi (partly because the local road is rather poor), but that was really the only thing wrong with it. The servers were friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere, of a 1930s local rajah's house, was utterly charming.
Exceptional staff, food and facility.”
Have not experienced this level of courteous staff, quality and tasteful food
Excellent place to spend a weekend ”
The staff were very courteous - especially Mr. Praveen and Mr. Joseph. The hotel was able to provide directions and information on our excursion to Hampi as well. The property is excellent with in house pool, activity area, library as well as gardens. My only regret was we had planned only to stay a single night. Will visit again to stay at least 2 nights there. (to note: the hotel is situated about 1 hour drive from Hampi- to be factored in during planning for Hampi excursion)
Perfect trip to relax r in between trips to Hampi”
If you like to take it easy on your holidays while soaking in the architectural marvels at Hampi. Shivavilas palace , Sandur is a place to stay. About an hours drive from Hampi, its best to do s early morning trip to Hampi and return when the suns is at its peak around 2:30 pm. Enjoy scenic forest and hills routes on the way and nice roads for most part. The hotel itself is an oasis with good amenities , lots of greenery and quite a lot to do in and around the palace. The staff is extremely helpful and go out of the way to accomodate every request and make you feel special. The food though a bit limited in variety is prepared really well and very enjoyable. The hotel is an overlooked gem and highly recommend it
3 days like in a dream, in a historical palace, far enough from the dust of Hampi, but not too far to go there twice, with the private driver provided by the reception. We recommend warmly.
