West District hotels & places to stay

Hotel room is big and clean. The staff is nice. Bell boys helped us to get off from our car each time. They co-operated with my driver even they helped us to take our luaggage from my car. We booked two rooms (4 people room and 2 people room) and request to take 3 baby beds in total via booking from agoda.com (remark in the booking). I also send a email to remind hotel 5 days before I check in but did not get any reply. Staff felt apologies and help us to make an extra bed in my 4 people room. Even staff gave us 2 boxes of pineapple pie for their apology. They breakfast buffet is nice and good. The food is rate to 5 stars.

Excellent hotel. Spacious room for even a family of 4 adults and 1 infant. The service by the counter staffs was one of best I encountered. Patient and helpful from our check in to check out,couldn't praise them enough. Lot of eateries around and a Family Mart and 7-11 just beside the hotel. There's a direct bus to HSR Taichung just outside the hotel and Metro stations are within walking distance. Highly recommended for a comfortable and spacious stay with best service from staffs.

It's absolutely a great location to get around and is able to visit many attractions, restaurants within walking distance which is the best thing of staying in this hotel. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. My room is located at the 2nd floor, a little bit noisy if young couple with kids keep their doors open The sound-proof system could be better I found a few stains on the bed sheets, but in general, the hotel cleanness is good.

Pros: -Room was very spacious and clean. Sofas and mattress were super comfortable. -excellent location. Lots of places to see within walking distance. Several convenience stores are nearby. Cons: -it's a weird design that the only sink is placed in the living room, not beside the toilet. So if you wish to wash your hands after doing your business you need to walk over the the living room or wash your hands in the shower. Oh and there's no hook/rack to hang up drying towels near the sink. -Parking is at a nearby commercial building's basement and hotel guests are only allowed to park at floor B4- B6 which is annoying given there were a lot of empty spots on the upper floors. Parking fee is TWD 200/ day but only until 12 noon the next day which is the same as check out time. -Skip the breakfast, unless you're only looking to grab something to eat quickly.

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. The service was one of the best, the staff are friendly and helpful. I am very particular about bathrooms when it comes to choosing hotels. The bathroom in the Deluxe Family room is big and clean. Towels are within easy reach such that you wont have to make the floor wet and slippery when getting out of the shower. The room itself is huge. We still had lots of room to move around after opening up all our luggage bags on the ground. The only thing, if I had to nitpick, was there was not enough power points for us to charge all our electronics. 3 of us were staying in the room and we had a couple of electronics each, therefore not enough. Location: I thought the location was pretty convenient as the bus stops are just 3 minutes walk from the hotel. And because we can travel for free within 10km (with EasyCard), we did not find any problem getting to places. We even traveled with our luggage bags on the bus to the hotel from Taichung Station (only 7 stops from Taichung station, 16 minutes away including waiting for the bus). Will definitely stay here again if I come to Taichung again.

This Hotel is situated at the heart of Tai Chung City, just behind the well known Sogo Departmental Store and conveniently walking distance to nearby National Museum of Natural Science, Cultural Street, Park Lane and Calligraphy Greenway and to the popular Book Store and lots of themed restaurants/Cafe and shopping. Transportation in and out from this hotel is easily accessible by taxi, bus and BRT. It is extremely convenient including accesses to and fro the airport. The hotel is tastefully decorated in Victorian English style, extremely comfortable and clean. I also felt in love with the external wall painting with lots of foreign stamps on the red painted wall. The breakfast inclusive in the room rate provides a wide variety of food both Chinese and Western which are very delicious. It also comes with refreshing fruits and delicious desserts. Staff here all around are very friendly and knowledgeable and extremely helpful. They gave us a very warm feeling just like home and are able to show us and inform us where best to visit within the Tai Chung city. We are extremely impressed with Hotel Elizabeth for their great hospitality and in no doubt, we shall return to stay with Hotel Elizabeth in our next visit to Tai Chung. We will definitely recommend Hotel Elizabeth to all my friends and family members when they visit Tai Chung city. Thank you so much to all the staff working in Hotel Elizabeth. When first entering the room I found the room have only one bed which was not the same as what I had booked on line. After 20 minutes’ negotiation with the manager, Ms. Wei, the problem was resolved - we were changed to the room with two beds. The room and the bath room were nice and clean. Staff were courteous and helpful. Location is good, close to Gongyi road which lots of nice restaurants are located.

We only stayed one night as we were visiting relatives nearby. But will definitely stay here again if we come back to Taichung. The staff were extremely helpful and courteous, the hotel and the room was very clean. Bed and linen made it a very good night sleep. We had 2 rooms, the standard twin for my wife and I, and a standard double for our daughter. The layout was very good as the shower, toilet, and basin area was separated which means my wife and I can use it in parallel. The only comment is maybe there can be a stronger exhaust fan in the shower to get rid of the steam quicker. Other than that a fantastic hotel experience at a very good price.

Very friendly and helpful staff. We arrived on a slow night and were offered free parking right outside the hotel. It is centrally located in the cultural-creative area with easy access to eateries, shops, museums and parks in the West district. The hotel is quiet, pretty and very clean. Our group of three adult friends enjoyed the stay in one room/one night. The sunroom-lounge on the first floor is relaxing.

Very convenient! In the heart of Taichung with the national museum of natural science in walking distance also many open events within the area and sidewalk flea maket on the weekends. Probably due to covid-19 the price for this hotel have increased dramatically. Normally for a weekend stay it will cost around $1,500- $2,500 per night with last minute booking but I paid around $5,000 per night. But again really can't complain, great location and cheaper than other hotels in the area for now.

Splendor Inn is a nicely furnished four star hotel with many facilities for internet connections, business meetings and a strategic location to Taichung City Center. For dining facilities it is connected to its five-star sister hotel, Splendor Hotel which is situated side by side. The staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are comfortable and clean. All in all an excellent hotel.

The location of this hotel is in the heart of the city. There are plenty of shopping, parks, eateries and shopping selections nearby. Complementary underground parking is offered as well. However, for foreigners, it is worth noting that the train station and transportation hub is not within walking distance and Feng Chia Night Market or Tiger City Shopping District/Taichung National Theater is at least a 15-minute drive away. Only the National Museum of Fine Arts is within walking distance. The rooms are classically decorated, ie. not as contemporary as much of the new competition, as is the plaza-like lobby and domed roof. it almost appears as if you were walking into a museum. While the building and suites are starting to show its age, everything is kept meticulously clean. Service was excellent. Of note, each room could’ve used more pillows and the breakfast was a slight letdown, being only on par with much cheaper competitors.

The hotel has managed cost to such a level that there is no hotel staff anywhere to be seen. Not a problem theses days with mobile devices being carried by almost everyone. You receive a code to access the hotel and room just in time for check-in. The room is cleaned to an acceptable standard. Basic amenities like toothbrush, soap, razor are all present. It really is difficult to beat on price. Sure it is not luxurious and walls are a bit thin as you can hear next room if there were shouting, but for a couple of nights on a budget, it’s a much better option than hostel and some rundown hotels.

This Hotel is Amazing! I carelessly picked the hotel because it was close to my business. My expectations were very low, but I thought for one night who cares. But, my oh my what a wonderful surprise, it is a BEAUTIFUL hotel. Everything was sparkling new, super clean, and the atmosphere so cozy. The front desk woman was so friendly, jovial, and even spoke English. I HIGHLY recommend this hotel, you will not be disappointed.

Pros: 1) Very comfortable, clean and neat. 2) Owner is good and flexible to change the room to 102 when there is construction going on and loud noise to be heard at 103. 3) Owner prepare the room well. Wifi is available for each individual room. 4) Water pressure, heater and air-con are in good condition. Cons: 1) Not so suitable for heavy luggage people if you were to be on first or second floor as will be on stairs. Maybe can pre-request to be on ground floor instead. 2) Room 102 bed headboard is adjacent to Room 101 bathroom. So, the pipe noise can be heard clearly if your neighbour shower at last night, may have woke you up. Friendly note: 1) Helpful note to the property turn in the walkway at green sign "Cotton Line Simple" (棉麻主张）, turn to the alley facing "Fermento" restaurant. 2) Send the instruction to enter the house 2-3 days before the check-in date a) Instruction to use the washing machine on ground floor b) wifi password together

Prior to this trip, I was so hesitant to make a booking in a hostel due to couple of bad experiences I had staying at a hostel. But due to alot of outstanding reviews and comments about this hostel, I have made a risks of booking and I have never been resentful about that decision. The place was so pleasant, clean and peaceful. it is located at the west district of taichung where a lot of good cafes and places sprawled. I also love the fact that it is near bus station. I love that the rooms are spacious and the bathroom is squeaky clean. You will not feel like your are sharing comfort room with others as there are good number of cubicles (both bathroom and comfort room). I also love their free breakfast. I will surely stay here should I return to Taichung.

It's just like a hong kong room, bed and table. that's all. not much walking space and cant open my luggage fully. it's located quite a distance from the nearest train station. there's not much nearby, convenience store is around the corner but not in sight. sound segregation for the hotel is bad, can hear cars and bikes through out the night. light sleepers be warned. for some reason, there's quite a flow of bikes through out the day even though it's by the small road, not a main road. wouldnt book this again if given a choice, it's cheap but rather inconvenient be it space or location wise.

This hostel has zero signage outside so it is quite difficult to find. It actually says Betty something instead on the side of the building (not directly facing the street). I wandered around for about 45 mins looking for anything that could possibly be a hostel or hotel in this area based on the address provided but it took getting a local shop keeper phoning the hostel for me from her phone to actually get there. Even then, she had an awkward seeming phone call with the hostel and then they said they'd phone her back to give her the directions, 15 mins later they phoned her back, and she lead me there based on some shoddy sounding directions on the phone. They didn't come outside or go to the doorway or anything to help us find it. I'm very thankful for that shop keeper; I was just about to find a way to contact Agoda to tell them that this place doesn't exist and to have my money refunded when she stepped up to help. Cleanliness was definitely subpar, the sheets smelled dirty..

Big room size and nice parking place.Me and my wife were in Taichung for 2 days October 2013. We booked a room near the Jazz festival location through Agoda. The check-in is at 3pm and we reached the hotel around 2:30pm. The hotel looked fine, the check-in was very smooth and the staff seemed friendly and helpful. A good first impression! We were shown to our room which was on the 11th floor and we found it to be very large and upgrade free. The room were able to get out onto the balcony.

Location of the hotel is a bit far from the train station. I will recommend you to take taxi from train station to the hotel. The customers service is very good. Staff will give you a morning call before they deliver the breakfast to your room. You will choose your breakfast and the time to deliver it to you room a day before. Although there is only sandwich and toast. But it's not so bad after all. Bed is very comfortable. The only problem we face is the air-con of the hotel. It's not cold enough in the day. And the wall mounted controller light is too bright in the night. The controller is unable to be taken down from the wall. It will be good if there is something to cover up the controller so that the light won't disturb your sleep. Overall it's a pleasant stay at the hotel.
