Rio All Suite & Casino Hotel
West of The Strip,West of The Strip - View on map
"not too far from the strip (10min walk at most); the casino is always quite well attended. As it is not on the strip there is not a horde of tourists just strolling through it but the people who are there are actually there either to play or to drink. the swimming pool area is also very nice, the only hotel having a better pool is probably the hard rock hotel (but again this is for a general younger audience). the voodoo club on top of the roof is excellent - the views are the best of las vegas strip, also better than from stratosphere (not as high bit closer to strip). many bice chicks (who actually also stay in the hotel) if one would be interested in this :) one floor below the club is a pricy restaurant (as always quality costs something). the buffet on the casino floor (breakfast and lunch) is huge and very good. the rooms are OK; my room on the 5th did not have a flatscreen TV, but hey, who cares - you're not in Vegas to watch TV right?! overall I can recommend it. Days Inn by Wyndham Las Vegas Wild Wild West Gambling Hall
West of The Strip,West of The Strip - View on map
"I had seen all the negative reviews of Wild Wild West before I booked the room but didn't want to stay on the strip, so I decided how bad could it be. The only negative I found with the Days Inn was the smoke in the registration area which is right in the casino and the putrid smell of smoke permeates the air. But it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be and it was tolerable. The room was very comfortable and the bed was one of the most comfortable beds I've ever had in a hotel. Nice big flat panel TV which good selection of channels. The WiFi in the room was good, the free was even better and faster than the premium WiFi I had initially bought ($7.99 a day). People complain about the $7.99/day facilities fee but this is standard in Las Vegas and much more at the 5 star hotels on the strip (the 5 star hotels even charge for the gym there). Yeh, the Days Inn isn't a 5 star hotel but it was an easy 10 minute walk to Excaliber where I could catch the free tram to Mandalay Bay or walk across the street to NY NY and MGM Grand and buy a ticket for the monorail. The staff at the Days Inn were excellent, helpful and always nice when I asked a question. The servers at breakfast in the Denny's (attached to the casino) were very nice, cheerful and nice. I really did enjoy my 6 nights at the Wild Wild West...oh, please get some craft beers at the bar!!! I'd give it a 9/10."

Desert Paradise Resort

"I traveled with my family of 7 and stayed in this wonderful resort. I was blown away by the amenities and size of the room. We booked the two bedroom suite and wow! The rooms were very spacious and the living came with a pull out sofa bed. The room came with two bathrooms which were a pleasant surprise. It had a kitchen with all the utensils, stove, sink, refrigerator, and microwave. Moreover, the pools were wonderfully heated for those winter getaways. It was 2 miles west of the strip on the east side of the strip. Meaning, it was close enough to enjoy all the neon lights and sounds of the strip but very quiet at night. It was close to an international market so people can buy their food there and cook it in the hotel to save money. The streets were not busy and it was very easy to get around and explore the area. It's also very close, within walking distance, to the Orleans hotel and casino. This resort is definitely one of the nicest hotels and resorts I have been to. You definitely get more bang for your bucks here. Great resort, pleasant staff, great and clean rooms, and very peaceful. This place has become our go to place for our accommodations. Highly recommended!!"

Palace Station Hotel and Casino
West of The Strip,West of The Strip - View on map
"Quite a good place to stay provided you are not keen to be 'on' the strip. The hotel has undergone a recent renovation so it doesn't feel dated. The dining table and chairs were thankfully from a few decades back and felt supremely sturdy and comfortable like good old 'back in the day' stuff. Most rooms do not have mini bar or refrigerator but the hotel was kind enough to have one sent over for us to store baby food. We had the Premium King room on 15th floor and the view of the city was amazing. For food, there is the Brass and Fork restaurant ; though the Feast buffet is the ideal bargain given the excellent taste, huge selection and reasonable price. The access to the feast buffet is however only through the casino and since smoking is allowed inside, you do need to rush past the slot machines and roulette tables if you have a child with you or else risk exposing your baby to second hand cigarette smoke! An alternate access to the buffet would have been great. Also, the location is awesome if you intend to visit places outside Vegas as you are minutes from the ramp and exit. Covered parking is in abundance, valet parking is available too. Definitely worth the money and certainly would recommend it to others."

"Cons-looked NOTHING AT ALL LIKE THE PHOTOS WHATSOEVER, definitely edited or photoshopped the lobby and rooms look nothing like this. Old property. Very old. Did I mention it looks nothing like this at all Pros-THE ENTIRE STAFF is AMAZING! Very kind, respectful, helpful. It has a washer and dryer in the laundry space for reasonable amount. Quiet. Has a pool though its small and the photo is misleading lol you’ll see when you get there. So basically the pros are the staff. And they have a fridge and microwave which is a rare find near the strip. No pest issues. No odors. Its a tiny dive but tolerable could use a real makeover. Rates are reasonable off season and weekdays. Oh yeah and the staff rocks!"

Orleans Hotel and Casino
West of The Strip,West of The Strip - View on map
"This hotel was quite nice. I enjoyed the more laid back feel as compared to the strip properties. Drinks and food were reasonably priced and you didn’t have to sell kids to afford alcoholic beverages at the pool. The pool stayed open until 9:00 instead of the usual 4:00/5:00 closing time at strip hotels. If you’re a younger “party animal”, this probably isn’t the spot for you, but otherwise I’d definitely stay here again on my next trip to Vegas. Only con is that the free shuttle drops off at Fashion Place mall which is too far down the strip to really walk to any of the places you’d want to be at on the strip. If they could add or change the shuttle stop to be closer to the center of the strip, it would certainly raise my review even higher. Free parking and valet service was great though. All in all an A+ property. "

"Off the strip, but centrally located for our shopping trips. You can see the age of The building and rooms. The food was excellent! The room was nice with comfortable beds. The shower, however left a lot to be desired. Hot was cold, cold was hot and there was no happy medium. At least there was hot water. The staff was friendly, especially the valets. The casino was large and there is a no smoking area which was nice. We didn't go, but heard the buffet was great. We'd stay there again. "

"Clean rooms. Cool modern feel to them with nice large windows with good views. Gym and pool facilities are nice. A shuttle is available every 30 minutes that will take you to Ceaser's Palace leaving you at the heart of the strip. Good service from the employees in general here. Free parking is a nice thing too."

The Palms Casino Resort

"I really enjoy staying at The Palms because of its location. I love the fact that it is off of the strip. It feels exclusive and less congested. I've stayed at The Palms twice. The summertime is great. They have great pool parties. They also have great lounges like Moon. I recently stayed for my birthday in the winter and it was a different experience. It was a romantic getaway. All of the staff were welcoming. We didn't make much use of the pool but we enjoyed our room and the new decor. The room was amazing and very clean. It felt like our condo for the weekend. Not to mention the pricing was surprisingly cheap. There is complimetary valet parking, a shuttle that goes to the strip, and a small casino that you won't get lost in. I will be back for sure, but this time to get a tan and party at the infamous pool parties! To sum this all up....great room, great service, nice location, cool lounges/bars, and great price = a regular Palms customer."
