Lovely last minute find”
Finding a hotel for new years eve that wasn't extortionate in white sand was hard, came across this finally which hasn't got the best reviews. Getting dropped off by the ferry taxi at the top of the steep hill we thought o no this is miles away from main area, but actually only 5/10 mind still along the beautiful beach. I had booked a garden view hut which turned out to have a lovely beach view aswell and walk way straight onto the beach. The hut itself was ok comfy bed and bathroom had a few ants but nothing awful. The balcony bit looked over onto the beach. The beach is stunning and one of the best bits of white sand beach, the hotel has chairs for the beach for free ( they also float in the sea) breakfast was buffet style with fresh eggs omlettes and waffles. Definitely would recommend staying, the only thing missing is a pool, but right on the beach you can survive without one.
Bungalow on the beach”
This place is a little run down but that is not a deal breaker for the lovely setting. The staff was friendly and took care of our needs. Our friends bungalow had an overly hard bed and the staff tried to fluff it up.
Very Good Value, Best Beach on the Island at your doorstep”
If you're staying on White Sand Beach and are value conscious then the White Sand Beach Resort is a great option. You're on probably the best strip of the best beach on the island. The water was 30 meters from my bungalow, serene beach scene. The only bad things are 1. you must walk about 10 minutes up the beach to get access to rural road (restaurants, bars, 7/11) 2. The bungalows are adequate but keep in mind they are not air tight, expect to have a mosquito or 2 flying around your room, a little repellent and I was fine. The ensuite shower/ bathroom was adequate and the A/C ran cold, no issues there. The hotel is right next to one of the most expensive on the island, KC Resort....can't beat the beach at this location, beautiful.....I will stay again.....
Beautiful, quaint little cottages on the beachfront with great views! My cottage was beautiful and clean and everything worked perfectly. I was worried that this beach/area might be noisy but this resort is secluded and like a little hidden gem so it was really peaceful. What I loved most was the fact that I was right on the beach front and could sit and watch the sunset from my porch. Even the views from the restaurant was so beautiful & breakfast was good. I’ll definitely return to this resort and Koh Chang again.
Great view, nice staff and good value ”
I stayed here for 2 nights and would definitely come again. Room has everything you need and it's a great view if you book the beach view like I did. Food and drinks are reasonably priced and the menu is quite extensive. I liked that you could rent a canoe for one hour for 100 baht. Staff are friendly and helped us to choose and book trips. Good location from the peir. Beware of the very steep hill when driving in/out of the resort.
It's rather simple and rustic, but what more do you need at such a nice location? Within this type of accommodation, it's definitively the nicest place on White sand beach! It's at the very quiet top end of the beach and has a nice restaurant with absolutely reasonable (and competitive) prices. We really loved it
very nice beach!!”
we, altogether 5 adults& 4 children, spent 2 nights on the family suites(2 suites) located right on he beach. the suite facilities was ok, the room cleanliness was acceptable. However, the location of the hotel, which situated right on the white sand beach, makes all those mentioned issues gone away!!. you will enjoy your view of the nice beach and calm blue sea... our dinner at the hotel restaurant with the fire show was fantastic. Buffet breakfast with the variety of foods was also nice. we will surely come back to this hotel again next time.
i went to this resort for nine days.rooms are a bit old but has everything u need for a beach hut.they have a restaurant at reception, which is not to bad.you will need to hire a motorbike from the hotel.just talk to any of the staff.they are very helpful.town is only about 3 minutes on the bike.u can also walk to town along the beach its about 15 minutes away.ther is a good restaurant called the rock sand.great food.the water is nice and clear, they dont have jetski whizzing around which is good.nice and quiet.at night all you hear is the water.beautiful.dont think about going to koh chang.just do it.you wont regret it.have a great time.
Great location and food, okay rooms”
Fantastic location, very quiet beach even during high season. Nice breakfast buffet. The Beach Front bungalows are right in front of the water. But the rooms are a bit shabby, amenities are at about the minimum level for comfort. The AC and TV was new though.
Nice private location; the rest was shockingly bad.”
We came from our home in Bangkok (Cdn-Malay couple). We travel often and are easygoing. It's SE Asia! We checked in to our Deluxe Garden View Room and the staff immediately opened our door then walked off. We were greeted by damp/mould smell, broken closet and showerhead. Fine, but upon checking the bed, we found feces on both pillows and on the sheets. We asked at reception to change our sheets. The manager demanded an explanation and was annoyed. He was exceedingly rude. Renting a motorbike, he gave us 4 broken, greasy helmets duct taped together and dramatically tore up our contract when we decided to pass. He shooed us away and left us to find a way into town on our own. It really set a horrible tone. Dinner was good but took an hour and a half to receive, and breakfast buffet was empty when we arrived at 9. Took 45 minutes to refill and was poor. Beach sand nice, and privacy good, but no shelter so rough waves and couldn't swim. Choose a place further south where its better.
A Hermit’s Paradise”
The location of this resort is unique. It is next to impossible to reach it by the road (taxi drivers refuse, for example) that dives vertically down to the sea. On the right there are impenetrable rocks. So, the place is so remote and so secluded, that you feel creepy sometimes at night. Fortunately to me (and unfortunately to the hotel), not very many guests stayed there at the time, what gave additional feeling of loneliness. The first night was unfortunate, though. Next to my bungalow there was a toads’ concert, that continued the whole night. I couldn’t sleep a minute. Because of this I had to move to the farthest corner, to a beach front room. And that was it! No wifi there, but it helps to understand what the life was like a hunderd years ago :) On the last night the “concert” nearby my first room stopped. I can not say whether the management caught toads or they just moved to a better place. Buffet breakfast on weekends only. Usually you are offered simple No. 1 and No. 2.
Perhaps the best spot close to the beach”
This is perhaps the best spot close to the White Sands beach, more faraway from its center and quiet. It has a nice restaurant and it is good for rowing (kayaks can be rented). The access to the hotel is a bit complicated, because the taxis coming from the taxi pier don't want to drive downhill. It is better to call the hotel and ask them to pick you up from the main road. Enjoyable stay, I recommend, although the White Sands beach is rapidly loosing its charm due to overdevelopment.
The genuine beach front hut!”
Beautifully secluded resort at the far end of the otherwise very busy White sand beach. It’s a very short walk, though, and you’re in the middle of it all. Facilities are slightly aged, not insect proof but clean. There is something quirky and authentic about it all and the resort seems to have grown organically over the years. Charming! And fabulous beach!!
The cabins that we and our friends were in were a bit rustic but a great location, right on the beach. Our mattress was very hard and lumpy so that was our biggest complaint. Big breakfast buffet every morning with lots of American and Asian choices
After staying in many hotels around all of Koh Chang island, this hotel offers so much on so many levels. It feels away from the busy bars, shops, food stalls and beaches of White Sands town, but it's a lovely walk up the beach into town . Lovely staff and resort, I would say is a touch of Thai paradise.
The resort is right on the beach! We had a garden view bungalow, but we're still less than 30 seconds from the beach! The beach area is quiet - a bit of a walk from the restaurants and bars, but you have much more space because of this. The breakfast was so so, the standard Thai breakfast a choice between soup and toast with eggs and sausages every morning. The only "downside" is that you only have Wifi in the common area and not in your room.
Back again for the 3rd time, but disappointed”
I had been here a couple of times during the summer season and in spring, in the past. The location looked good and the beach was well-kept. This time rain and the condition of the facility made me regret the whole trip and the choice of the location. Upon arrival the staff looked and sounded grumpy, the same in the following days, as if they were doing me a favour hosting me there...maybe they just lack communication skills (or working skills). The price was very convenient in the rainy season, but the rain was only one of the disappointment factors: the facility looked run-down, the beach was crossed by a channel dug from the internal stream to the sea to let the water out withoout flooding the whole place. The result is the beach looks like an excavation site, quite terrible. I asked for a motorbike but it took me 20 mins to start it and the brakes were not in their best condition, I was worried every time I had to go down the steep hill to access the facility. I had to ask for helmets, but they are broken and quite useless, it seems they don't care at all about their guests' lives when they rent a motorbike from them... Breakfast was a mess, sometimes I had to go and order myself because nobody was coming at my table to check if I already ordered, even if only 3 tables were occupied by customers. Rooms are still OK though, especially considering the 50% rebate during the rainy season.
We never visited such a terrible dirty place like this before. Everything stink and smell bad!!”
The worse hotel ever and location was terrible! Everything was dirty and smell bad..... We booked this hotel for 4 nights arrived late evening and stayed for 1 night. The next day we moved out luckely agoda could change for us and we stayed at a diffirent hotel. Terrible hotel!!!
Not value for the money”
An old resort and staff not good, coming wake you up 8 o.clock in the morning for cleaning room, happen one time of 3 days. The breakfast was between 7-10 but if you come ten to 10 everything was empty and they not fill up more. Much thing not working, they haven't done anything to keep it good.
GIVE IT A MISS”
Staff extremely unhelpful, uncooperative and unfriendly. They would stare at you blankly as if you were an alien, make out they didn't understand what you were saying, or carry on playing on their mobiles or doing their make up. They would also leave you waiting for long periods of up to half an hour whilst messing about, talking between themselves, making phone calls etc. Service is atrocious, although the owner/manager is very nice. I am not sure if he is aware of how his staff relate to customers. The location whilst being on a lovely beach and very quiet, is a nightmare in itself. Reaching the accommodation by road is down a horrendously steep, almost vertical hill. I had been prior warned but nothing could prepare us for the road that presented itself to the accommodation. A clean pair of pants/underwear are a must!!! It is the steepest, most hairiest hill I have ever encountered and how the taxi got down there without mishap is beyond me. Many vehicles refuse to travel there because of the hill. The other way to the accommodation is to walk along the beach. Whilst a nice way to go, this also proves problematic. You have to walk over some rocks, through a restaurant and over what is best described as a Robinson Crusoe, decrepit, rickety, decaying wooden plank type bridge set up, which is at best a bad accident waiting to happen. You literally take your life in your hands when crossing this contraption. It is threadbare, extremely slippery when wet which is constantly, and a danger. Most times you will be beaten and slapped in the face by the waves that crash against the rocks. How I survived this crossing is a miracle and this is not an exaggeration by any means. So either way you are buggered. Steep almost vertical hill or wet and dangerous bridge. There is no other way. Also to add insult to injury I cut my foot badly on the old, rusty nail strewn, wooden planking decking in the restaurant. This meant spending a week with a bandaged f
