Park like setting”
This was our second visit to Wiang Indra Resort in a month, so we must like it! The biggest plus is the location, which is quiet and tranquil. You do need to use their shuttle, or get a Grab or taxi to get to town though. The resort itself is fairly old, which means that there may be a few cracks and musty smells now and then, but the setting is like a park with big old trees and lots of birds. We wanted a quiet place to relax so this was perfect. The breakfast buffet and lunch buffet were both good, and we just used room service for dinner. There was lots of natural light as the entire outside wall was a glass sliding door to the balcony.
Park like setting”
This is an older hotel, but it is in a beautiful park like setting next to the Kok River. I wanted some place quiet, so this was perfect. The breakfast buffet was better than the average hotel breakfast buffet. The pool was huge. I really liked the big balcony and large patio window looking out over the grounds and towards the river.
Grand old hotel”
This is an old place on the river that has been updated . Our room was fine with the bathroom modernized. We had a flatscreen TV but no room safe or balcony furniture. The pool is spacious but has only four lounges and no umbrellas. The breakfast buffett is good but doesn’t change much day to day. However the lunch buffett is excellent. The staff are helpful and professional and check in and out went smoothly. We will return.
New owner makes changes”
This was the first time that we came here with the new owner of the Resort and I notices already the changed they made, however a lot of new guest can't see them, because they replaced the rotten wood of the balconies with new wood, the bathroom got a facelift en look brighter, same as the room. Pity for the big screen smart tv that could not be smart because during the four days we stayed there we could not connect to the WiFi that the resort provided, it did not work at all! The breakfast is excellent and I don't know what people wish more, that complain here on Agoda, then go for a 5 star hotel and then pray it's better. The pool was cleaned every day between 6 and 7 am during our stay. For now Sept. 2017 the Resort but also the city is busy with changes at the riverside, but you still can access the pool area.
Some issues, but a good value”
The room size and view was very good for the price. There was some noise from tourist groups that woke up early, played TV late into the night or talked loudly on cell phones outside our door. There is no WiFi in the rooms, although it is in the lobby. Room service is overpriced and food quality not as good as in the buffet breakfast. The hotel is old and could use some updating, but that is not too much of a concern for the price paid - the mature landscaping and expanse of the estate were good qualities. Reception staff were friendly and efficient.
Have stayed here many times. This time good too. ”
I like this place and have stayed many times. Lovely grounds and pool. Some recent work had been done to update the rooms. The main drawback was that the internet was not working and there as no indication as to when it might be on again. That was surprising for a hotel of this size that receives guests by the busloads. My second day I was able to get an internet connection.
Comfortable, clean but old room”
I stayed only one nice. The hotel is quite old and aslo the room. Howver, it's clean and confortable. The staffs were friendly and have a great servicemind. The location is hard to find a little bit, the street to town is quite dark. I think it's easy to get lost but I was ok.
Nice hptel out of town”
The hotel felt deserted due to the wet season. All facilities, tables and chairs outside packed up. The restauarant was closed and had to go into town to eat. The breakfast was average and the staff spoke no english orher than the bus boy who was friendly and helpful. Clean rooms.
And Older Resort - Great Value For Money”
The rooms themselves are a little dated, but the resort is beautiful with excellent facilities and great service.
Pros: It's a beautiful property right on the river and the grounds are gorgeous. The Manager is amazing and the staff are very nice. Great breakfast buffet. Cons: The rooms, especially the floors and the bathroom need updating. The bathroom was full of mould around the tub area. The tiled floors in the restaurant were in poor condition. The location was far from the center of town and it was difficult sometimes to get a taxi or a tuk tuk.
Old style hotel.”
Very impressive grounds and pool near the river. Great sunset and spot for drinks near the water. Romantic. The hotel entrance, grounds and lobby are all very impressive. However the room was a big disappointment. Interior tattered and very worn. Most rooms empty and perhaps abandoned in this sprawling hotel complex. Not that the rooms are terrible, just nothing compared to the common facilities. So if the room decor isn't a big deal this place is worth staying at for the sake of the commons area. Breakfast was a large buffet so I recommend it for Asian or Western tastes.
Good hotel, a bit old but still ok. Most of the staff is fine, only one comment on the Chef in the morning. I guessed he is the person in charge as the different of his uniform. He can speak nicely and serve the guest with hospitality. You don't have to act fussy to show people that you are the boss. That shouldn't be the way to lead and show the excample to your team.
Not that bad”
Read so many bad comments about this hotel after already made reservation during high season where other hotels are full. Quite worry before the stay, however, turned out to be not so bad as expected. Stayed here during cool season (morning temp. was 9 degree celcius), hotel provided enough blanket and even prepare extra, so I had a nice and warm stay. Everything is old but functional.
large comfortable rooms and great gardens.”
Quite outdated rooms, food was below average, various areas to eat but due to the nightly private functions could not talk over music volume.overall great view of the river but need to go into town to eat.
Nice resort, but remotely located”
Large, old hotel but maintained OK.WiFi did not work, but we did not bather to get it troubleshooted. We wanted to extend 1 night but the reception asked 350 bht more than offered at Agoda, so we booked again via Agoda while standing in the hall. If not having own wheels it is pretty difficult to get around, as city centre is located opposite side of river.
Quiet and lovely grounds”
We enjoyed our stay at the Rimkok and thoroughly enjoyed the food presentations at all times. The hotel needs to take a look at the over all facility. The grounds are wonderful, but there is no one on them. The facility needs major attention to repairs and many cosmetic issues as it appears the hotel exterior is not clean. Our room was clean and well attended by the cleaning staff and they are very friendly and cater to your needs. Hotel has a wonderful location on the river where you can secure a long-tail boat ride. If you ride motorcycles there are great places to explore a short distance from the hotel. The biggest negative would be the wifi internet almost non-exsistent in the room and somewhat dodgy in the lobby. If it is a working holiday if is frustrating to carry on with necessary work. The hotel has an almost hourly shuttle to the city and will accommodate you coming back from the city at 100 baht round trip per person. Over all we would select Rimkok again.
cold but delightful”
It was a very cold stay, the rooms are not heated and our room was never warmed by the sun and it was one of the coldest weather times ever in Chiang Rai. The second night we asked for a extra blanket which kept us warm as long as we stayed in bed. Night time activities are non existent, only one English T.V. station
Lovely location to relax and enjoy free moments.”
1.) Huge and comfortable hotel lobby for informally sitting and discussing things with guests. 2.) Lovely scenic and photogenic gardens, well maintained. 3.) Large swimming pool and well maintained swimming pool. Lovely location to relax and enjoy free moments.
Beautiful hotel and grounds”
we loved our stay at the rimkok resort.the extensive gardens were lovely and the pool area was absolutely fantastic. it wasn't a problem being a little out of town as the shuttle service from the hotel was cheap and easy. it was lovely being on the river and the piano bar and entertainment by the river at night were great. the hotel is not modern but this added to the ambience and the staff were friendly and helpful. our only complaint was the lack of tea making facilities in the rooms.
We stayed in the hotel for 3 days, and had a lovely time. I have never before had such beautiful views as those from the dinning room. The staff were always very helpful and attentive. The room was very clean and well equipped. I loved my time in Chiang Rai and the surrounding area, and will be using this hotel again.
