Park like setting”
This was our second visit to Wiang Indra Resort in a month, so we must like it! The biggest plus is the location, which is quiet and tranquil. You do need to use their shuttle, or get a Grab or taxi to get to town though. The resort itself is fairly old, which means that there may be a few cracks and musty smells now and then, but the setting is like a park with big old trees and lots of birds. We wanted a quiet place to relax so this was perfect. The breakfast buffet and lunch buffet were both good, and we just used room service for dinner. There was lots of natural light as the entire outside wall was a glass sliding door to the balcony.
Dear John, We thank you very much for your staying at Wiang Indra Riverside Resort and we are pleased that you have taken the time to review. It is through valuable comments like your very own that we can continue to improve our services to match the demands of our discerning and loyal clientele. In the meantime, we would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your patronage and continued loyalty. Looking very much forward to service you again in the not too distant future. Kind regards,
New owner makes changes”
This was the first time that we came here with the new owner of the Resort and I notices already the changed they made, however a lot of new guest can't see them, because they replaced the rotten wood of the balconies with new wood, the bathroom got a facelift en look brighter, same as the room. Pity for the big screen smart tv that could not be smart because during the four days we stayed there we could not connect to the WiFi that the resort provided, it did not work at all! The breakfast is excellent and I don't know what people wish more, that complain here on Agoda, then go for a 5 star hotel and then pray it's better. The pool was cleaned every day between 6 and 7 am during our stay. For now Sept. 2017 the Resort but also the city is busy with changes at the riverside, but you still can access the pool area.
We stayed in the hotel for 3 days, and had a lovely time. I have never before had such beautiful views as those from the dinning room. The staff were always very helpful and attentive. The room was very clean and well equipped. I loved my time in Chiang Rai and the surrounding area, and will be using this hotel again.
cold but delightful”
It was a very cold stay, the rooms are not heated and our room was never warmed by the sun and it was one of the coldest weather times ever in Chiang Rai. The second night we asked for a extra blanket which kept us warm as long as we stayed in bed. Night time activities are non existent, only one English T.V. station
We booked it for one night during new year period. Everything is fine for me, clean and big room, nice breakfast, standard service. It is one of the most valuable city hotel here, 3.5 star class in Chiang Rai. But if you have time, you should stay at hillside resort outside the city.....Danny
Nice Hotel with the Good Service”
This hotel overall is good service and the staff is very friendly. The Room is clean but a bit old style. Breakfast have a variety food to choose and staff in the restaurant is friendly and good service. The Location is abit difficults for the one who don't have a private car because is far from the city about 5 km. I am recommend to rent a car is better. I am highly recommend to anyone who would like to come Chiang Rai and looking for nice hotel and a good locations.
Good location, Clean and comfortable room.”
This hotel is big and beautiful. You can walk around the hotel to see the beautiful garden, Kok river. In the night, it has a bar for you. it also has decoration lights in the hotel and places around the hotel. The room is clean and quite big. However, the food in the hotel is fair.
Good looking resort but...”
Just returned from a 10 day trip in Thailand where we spent 3 nights in Chiang Mai and 3 nights in Chiang Rai. I have to say that Chiang Rai is beautiful. We got the most out of this trip by splitting it in two: first part was self guided in Chiang Mai. Here we ate everything that moved and rented a Honda Click motorcycle to experience for the first time that "Je ne sais quoi" that all my motorcycle owner friends are talking about. Driving it (for the first time in my life) on the Chiang Mai's early morning streets was a pleasure. Driving it during the 4pm rush hour...an adventure. Nevertheless, this way of transportation allowed us to explore the entire city and its vicinity without any concern for schedule and to save money too. A MUST if you would like some adrenaline rush. For Chiang Rai, we chose to stay at the Rimkok Resort and hire the guided recommended by so many on this forum. The hotel is beautiful but way too far away from the city and the only way to get to the night bazaar is by the hotel shuttle. Overall, not worth it. The food was also disappointing at the hotel but we brought our own from the night bazaar. There is nothing like eating sticky rice mango and friend fish with a bottle of champagne at the hotel's restaurant. Just be ready to pay US prices for anything you buy at the hotel. The guide, Jermsak Cei, was GREAT!!! He made out stay in Chiang Rai a five star experience. We contacted him by e-mail and booked him for the entire three days we spent there. The guy is fabulous!!! Flawless english, great sense of humor, and has been guiding people for over 15 years. Sooooo worth it!!! He customized the trips based on our liking and every day surprised us with his story telling ability, his home made lunches and his side trips in addition to what we wanted to see. HE picked us up from the hotel every day by 8:30 am and brought us back around 8pm.
Reasonable hotel, but needs updating”
This is a big hotel with well kept gardens just on the outskirts of Chiang Rai. There is a mini-bus service into the centre for 100 Baht return which is quite useful if you don't have your own transport. The swimming pool is not very inviting and needs enlarging and modernising. I wouldn't have wanted to spend any time in it or around it. The staff are very helpful and we found no fault with then at all. The hotel is arranged in several blocks at varying distances away from reception and the restaurant. Some would be quite a long walk, so you might need to be reasonably fit if you ended up with a room in block 7 (for example). The hotel is not far from the river and is in a rural location. The beds are extremely hard and if you are used to sleeping on your side, this is very concomfortable if not impossible.
Very valuable price with beautiful garden ”
good price with big room and nice breakfast. Central location in Chiang Rai city.
conveniet booking system”
easy to get to the hotel, located by the river kok, nice view, good food, reasonable price, nice atmosphere, good location to go to other attraction of chiengrai cause it is very easy to get to superhighway you will never lost. traveling along river kok by boat from the front of the hotel to many places and enjoy nice view.
Some issues, but a good value”
The room size and view was very good for the price. There was some noise from tourist groups that woke up early, played TV late into the night or talked loudly on cell phones outside our door. There is no WiFi in the rooms, although it is in the lobby. Room service is overpriced and food quality not as good as in the buffet breakfast. The hotel is old and could use some updating, but that is not too much of a concern for the price paid - the mature landscaping and expanse of the estate were good qualities. Reception staff were friendly and efficient.
great hotel with nice landscape by the river”
great scenic location by the Kok river. Service is good and prompt. hotel restaurant has good thai food. a little difficult to get to other attraction in chiang rai, a bit far from the city. a must to take a boat ride up and down on Kok river. Many river life to see by the boat ride.
Nice resort, showing its age . . . ”
We visited Rimkok to ring in the new year, and purchased a dinner and entertainment package. We were not disappointed. Despite the fact that the rooms are showing their age and could use an upgrade, they were built to such a high standard to begin with that they are still in good condition overall. For example, the bathroom is quite large, and has an old-style bathtub, but the water was good and hot and the drains worked superbly (these are a constant issue in Thailand!). The bed was quite comfortable, despite being older, and the other amenities were reasonable for their age. And the breakfast is also quite nice, with a variety of Western and Thai foods to choose from. The special dinner was excellent, with a wide variety of Thai and Western foods, all very well prepared. The entertainment was also quite good, with a live band and different styles of ethnic dances. The only problem was that it was unseasonably cool that evening, so most of the guests went back to their rooms before the countdown--but that certainly isn't the resort's fault! Overall, if one is planning to visit Chiang Rai, then Rimkok is a good place for a quiet, relaxing stay. Just don't expect the most modern conditions . . .
Park like setting”
This is an older hotel, but it is in a beautiful park like setting next to the Kok River. I wanted some place quiet, so this was perfect. The breakfast buffet was better than the average hotel breakfast buffet. The pool was huge. I really liked the big balcony and large patio window looking out over the grounds and towards the river.
Dear John, Thank you very much for your kind comments. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay with us. It was a pleasure to have you as a guest at Wiang Indra Riverside Resort and truly hope that we will have the pleasure to welcome you back in Chiang Rai. Looking very much forward to being at your service again in the nearly future. Kind Regards.
The hotel is on the way down”
The hotel changed to give service to Chinese groups. It's not whatever is was in the past. The first morning I came for breakfast they had nog eggs at al, the second day only a basket with some cold fried eggs. The dishes are all Asian, The western food they had some years ago, you will not find there anymore, same as other western people, I was the only one. Due a sickness it was hard for me to walk stair, don't think there are elevators in this hotel. Very pity to see an empty breakfast/lunch dining room, in the past it was totally full. This was the last time for us there, there will be better hotels in Chiang Rai.
Peaceful and attractive setting”
the breakfast option was worth having. it was a decent buffet breakfast and the coffee was quite good too. the outdoor pool is set in a very pleasant environment. my only negative is that the room was actually quite a long way from the main building - it would be worth requesting one nearer to the facilities. the hotel is located in an attractive area near the kok river, about 10 min from the centre by car or taxi.
Rim Kok is a large hotel. The service is very good. Staff willing to help beaming guests as well. In terms of decoration is applied in Lanna style bedrooms provide a smooth clean every cent in its entirety. Overall, the stay is considered the most cost-effective price. If you do not want to eat dinner in the city suggest that The hotel restaurant is attached along the Mae Kok c than the beautiful Watch the evening the atmosphere along the river Really happy. Breakfast is diverse. Delicious delicious Cons - None.
Went for our grandson's wedding which was held at the resort. Everything was beautiful. We were there 3 days and enjoyed using the pool. Breakfast was wonderful. Fell in love with the Chinese fried bread. We later joined a tour group and one of the stops was at the Rimkok Resort for an International lunch. A great lunch.
It was nice”
We loved our experience at this fine resort. We believe it was a fantastic deal by booking it on agoda. The food was exceptional. The pool is huge. We think this is one of the best places we have enjoyed on our trip.
