"Great atmosphere. Sense of calm. Everything was perfect. The service, from check-in to check-out was superb. All staff, from the manager to the housekeeper and the gardener were friendly, attentive, helpful and genuine. It’s a very small property and really feels like a home. Room was clean and comfortable. The food was amazing for breakfast and dinner. Breakfast was a choice of Big Breakfast (scrambled eggs, toast, croissant, sausage, waffle and bacon) or rice porridge with pork or prawns - all options are good! The hotel is located right next to one of Chiang Saen’s ancient ruins. It’s the perfect location and just a great place to be. The only downside was that eventually we had to leave. "

"This hotel is situated not far from the main road of Chiang Saen (about 500m south from the main road's T-intersection). Hotel itself is very nice and clean, with all the necessary amenities included. Bed and pillows are nice and relaxing. The best thing is the view of the Mekong river especially at sunrise (balcony faces to the East). We saw the sunrise right from our bedroom, with the fog rising up from the river and mountain ranges on Laos side). I like the location of this hotel, it is away from the crowd of the golden triangle itself (about 5 km drive to golden triangle). There are plenty of bicycles you can borrow for a ride up along the road all the way to the triangle. The Cons, there are a few I guess, are 1. Hotel is situated near truck unloading station, where all the huge trucks come to unload their fruits, vegetables, etc. and it can be loud sometimes, I would imagine it can be quite loud if you stay on the room on the road side. Also diagnally opposed hotel across the road there's a cheap motel where some workers come to have their meals and stay. Apparently I was told by hotel staff that the truckies and workers sometime get into fights and/or drunk and have damaged guest cars that are parked right outside the hotel overnight before - luckily hotel provided additional area for parking inside a fenced area with 24-hour security guard, so I guess this is just minor. 2. Breakfast - you have choice of either american breakfast, or porridge. both of which tastes ok but not enough, to be exact. the hotel should add bread/toast/jam/cornflakes to cater for those with a little larger stomachs like myself. on the bright side, they have coffee machine (automatic) and the coffee is GOOD! its Bon Cafe, and beans are grounded and espresso served right on the spot! Summary This hotel is good for couples / families who are looking for quiet and relaxing time - it is clean and have nice view."

"we are group of 5 and booked for the first night. Hotel was nice and clean, walking distance to some night market along the river. We got good information and transport arrangement from the short hair lady Manager and we decided to stay additional one more night instead of moving elsewhere. Language barrier from ground staff is there but the lady manager make it up for the team! Well done!"

"I would definitely stay at Buakum Riverside the next time I visit Thailand's Golden Triangle! My room on the 3rd floor was spotlessly clean and had a great view of the lights on the Laos side at night. The price was great value for money. Minuses: No internet access in room, only Hotspot capability. Also, I was under the impression that this hotel is located in the town of Chiang Saen, but it is actually 10 km. away in Wiang in the Golden Triangle -- this fact needs to be made clearer in the hotel description.
