Perfectly located in the cultural triangle of Sri Lanka, Wild Grass Nature Resort provides a comfortable base for visits to World Heritage sites. Dambulla is located 15 minutes away, and Sigiriya is 20 minutes away. Set within 30 acres of unfenced forest land which is regularly visited by a variety of animals and bird life, the well-appointed villas featuring modern amenities offer guests the luxury of privacy, tranquility, and space. The fine dining menus allow guests to either dine in their villas, in the restaurant, or on the terrace under a canopy of stars. The hotel can organize elephant sighting trips to neighboring Minneriya and Wasgamuwa national parks. Wild Grass Nature Resort is an eco-friendly hotel and uses fruits and vegetables from its own gardens or from gardens in the village.

Wild Grass Nature Resort
Kandalama Lake Front
A wonderful, quiet getaway with beautiful villas in a natural setting on a lake. For those interested in Sigiriya Rock only it is a little far to make multiple trips there on rough roads but if you are doing the Rock for one day as we did and relaxing at this beautiful property the rest of the time it is perfect. The menu could be a little more varied but the food was very good and the staff is wonderful.
Nice place for cleansing ur mind ”
Bit far but it worth it , I had a super quiet nice and the balcony is superb for meditation , quiet and stunning scenery. A must try
Nice retreat off the beaten path ”
Excellent service Nicely located off the beaten path Good location to explore the region from
Low-key, friendly staff, relaxing environment”
This is a small (eight chalets) resort, unpretentious and simple in many ways but the staff make you welcome. The on-site manager Kumara is especially helpful and an expert bird watcher! Arrange to have tea late afternoon on the rock behind the main reception building and stay to watch the sun go down behind Sigiriya Rock. Unforgettable! The 'Executive Suit' is comfortable - great bed, lovely open-air bathroom, wonderful views lying in bed towards the jungle and lake in the distance. Private, quiet and very relaxing. Recommended for nature lovers and as an anti-dote to other large glossy tourist resorts in the area.
Nice, but not as expected ”
Nice people, nice nature, but not as luxurious as expected looking at pictures and descriptions from web site. Villas differ a lot and where a bit enclosed in the forest (not as in pictures). The people however were very nice and the food good!
Great location but weak in management ”
The hotel is located in the forest. Pure nature.....well designed big houses but self furnished. management is weak with providing a proper service.
Potential is there, but just not there yet”
concept for this nature resort is very good, staff are very nice and are always helpful. houses/cabins are located in grassy/treed areas, which is nice, but there are many bugs/mosquito/geckos outside AND inside your cabin. Not that big issue if your the outdoorsy type, but waking up and seeing gecko dropping all over the floor from the geckos crawling on the ceiling during the night is kind of off putting, especially considering this place a quiet expensive to stay at. For that reason i would not consider it worth the money Also had many issues with hot water during our stay, and first cabin/unit did not have any hot water, so staff quickly arranged for us to stay in another unit which was good, but then the hot water also stopped working in that unit, thus we only had hot water 2 of 5 nights. SInce we had to pay quiet a bit to stay here, this is not a issue i think we should have to face since this is suppose to be a 4 star resort Overall i would not return of recommend unless you are the real outdoorsy type.
Beautiful forest isolation”
Great staff, isolated villas in a beautiful setting and convenient location. We very much enjoyed our stay, with personnel doing all they could to make our stay worthwhile. Would love to come back to these charming secluded villas and have more time for nature walks.
Hidden and beautiful retreat”
This place was beautiful and modern, had outdoor shower and great area to walk around. It's a bit off the regular path which is fine if you have a car. And all villas are well separated so keeps your privacy. we go a deal on agoda, but if it had been full price, not sure if it would have been worth it.
A memorable 3 nights. Fantastic location to explore the local areas sights and landmarks from. The team at the resort friendly and helpful going the extra mile to ensure our experience was he best it could be. Can't fault them.
Perfect for peace and quiet”
If you're after some peace and quiet and to enjoy the tranquility of nature, look not further. The villas are separated from one another which gives you the feeling of complete seclusion. I had the two-storey villa which had a balcony on the second floor with a view of the lake which was great to wake up to. Kumar and his team are incredibly friendly (as were most people that I encountered in Sri Lanka!), and were particularly helpful in arranging the best mode of transport to my next destination. I will certainly stay again on my next trip to the area and would certainly recommend this to fellow travellers looking for peace and quiet.
Great concept but a lot to improve”
The property is really a mixed bag: location is amazing, but hygiene, food and privacy are an issue. You really are in the middle of the jungle and the room provides amazing views through the floor to ceiling windows. The bathroom is outside on the "middle level" which is quite an experience, if you don't have any issues with bugs, frogs and even a snake in our case. Although the setting is really great, we actually decided to leave this property a couple of nights early (even though we had prepaid everything) as hygiene is a bit of an issue. The bedroom and bathroom were just not clean. At one point we had so many bugs in our bed (!), that we asked them to change the sheets, which they said they had done, however when I checked the bugs were still there and I noticed the same stains on the sheet. Same thing with the bathroom, as well as the dining table, some stains were still there. The manager said that it was because the cleaner was new.... Honestly, the lamest excuse ever! If the guy is new, it is the job of the manager to check up on him to make sure he did his job! The food is of average quality. The breakfast is quite nice, especially the fruits and some really good pastries, but the poached eggs were never runny unfortunately. The lunch and dinner were however a little disappointing with a limited menu and lacking in spicyness and richness. One thing we thought was annoying was the lack of privacy. The staff just keeps hovering around you or just continues to stand 1 meter behind you, even though you try to have a private conversation. Quite unnerving during breakfast, lunch and dinner. Even in the villa, which is in a secluded location, people, such as cleaners, will just shout that they want to enter when they are already standing in front (there is no door bell). Considering that there are large windows everywhere, I really had to be very careful in making sure I was always dressed properly...it really made me feel a bit uncomfortable unfortunatel

ONE OF MY FAVORITE RESORTS TO DATE ”
Loved this place and would stay here again- beautiful, spacious, private villas with outdoor bathrooms and huge windows. Excellent food and service. The only thing lacking was no bath robes. Otherwise I cannot fault it. Stay here if you can!
Excellent and best bed ever”
Excellent, food was not as expected for a 5 star hotel. Villas are breath taking though I think they use the space better . All I'm all was the best place I stayed in srilanka. Loved everything about it ..
This is not a five star hotel”
Agoda lists this as a five star hotel. We are older travellers and have extensive experience of hotels with the high standards required for this rating. The first cottage we were put Into was really horrible with a steep flight of stairs to negotiate down to the bathroom and all our things. They did move us to a much nicer room. The whole property needs a lot more money spent on upgrading the paths, the area around the pool was unkempt, the water looked cloudy, and the general maintenance of the whole place was poor. The public areas are too dark, as are the paths. The services of a good interior designer to make it visually more pleasant would improve things. Lumpy old sofas covered in a sort of green towelling are not a five star welcome. The food was very mediocre. We thought it was overpriced and should have only a three star rating.
We had a brilliant stay at Wild Grass. Fantastic location and extremely peaceful surroundings. Staff were first class. Highly recommended!
Don't stay here”
Resort is not well maintained and has poorly trained staff. There are no blinds on the upper windows of the room so the room fills with light at the crack of dawn making it difficult to get a full night's rest. There is inadequate air conditioning in the room and no fans in the common area (including dining area) making it very hot and uncomfortable throughout the hotel. The food is appalling - worst we have had in Sri Lanka. The pool is very small, doesn't look clean and filled with a garden hose pipe. The common area is very small and has terrible seating. No wifi in the rooms and vey slow wifi in the common area. Hotel generally feels in a state of disrepair. Would not stay here again and wouldn't reccomend it to others.
