It was amazing stay!!”
Room was beautiful, breakfast was good, staff were very friendly, everythibg was very very good!!
A real rip off, stay away!”
As there are many Safari Camps at the Yala national park, I studied the several options before booking our 3 night stay and I decided for the Wild Trails – Yala Tented Safari Camp as their reviews were real good. As you book a Safari camp with a price of 500$ per tent for two persons I was convinced all service and game drives would be included but upon arrival the manager told me I booked without The game drives, I checked this with the booking company and they confirmed this, so this was my mistake. he also informed us that during the day there wouldn't be electricity and that also warm water wasn't available. The camp has four tents for guests, and a central lounge and dinner tent, further away there is a staff tent which contains also the kitchen. We arrived at Lunch and we were served various local dishes some of them with meat or fish, as two of us are vegetarian they just ate the vegetables. After Lunch we informed the staff about our dietary wishes. After Lunch we left for the evening Safari ( we accepted to pay 50$ per person per Safari surcharges and the park entrance fees 75$ per day!) our driver drove with top speed over the sand roads and after 5 minutes we had to ask him to calm down and to drive slower, the Safari was a strange experience, a lot of cars, much garbage and at the sighting of game all drivers put their cars before the others. At our return we sat down with a drink at the fire a real pleasant experience, as dinner was served ( no choice!) we were surprised with one vegetarian and tree plates with a chicken leg, at our complaints they took away the plate and after a short time the same came back without the chicken, but no alternative. Overall the dinner was nothing special. We had a cold shower, and in the second tent the shower was just dripping. And slept well. The next morning at 5.30 we left for our second Safari (4x50$ and 75$ entrance fees) at our arrival at 06.00 there were over 150 cars waiting to buy the entrance ticket, as our c
Lovely outdoor living experience in a luxurious environment”
The tent was wonderful, the staff were very friendly and the food was good. We had a candlelit dinner by the fire in the evening and listening to the sounds around the tent at night was lovely. But I wouldn't do a safari with Wild Trails as the driver and guide didn't communicate well and the driver often drove off before we'd finished taking photos. The driver raced around the park like a boy racer and the guide knew very little about the animals so for $50/person we expected a better safari experience.
The kids loved the tent and safari despite the heat! Well set out tent, and flexible catering options for kids, and lovely spontaneity of finding a giant box for the kids to use as a paddling pool! Dani and his team are excellent and the safari was brilliant - Max (4) says his highlights was and always will be the jeep rides! Thank you all
It was a good experience but its nothing more than living in a "posh" tent which cost a fortune.
Very memorable stay ”
Pro: Very nice experience with a large tent, toilets, shower electricity inside the tent. We only stayed one night and the breakfast incl. package was perfectly fine. Also we were able to book their safari which was very nice. Con: Pickup was 1h late with 45mins picking up the phone. Dinner was quite cold when served. Only Sri Lanka food which was quite spicy.
Amazing location...wonderful people. Mili, the owner cum manager is simply wonderful! its is a great way to live in nature far from the maddening crowd!. if you are lucky, u can see animals drinking water near the camp. cannot recommend enough!! Ps: Veg food could be a bit better though :o)
Nice camp experience, u will have dinning in the camp with five star service
Amazing Experaince ”
We stayed at the Wild Trails for three days and its everything and more than what we expected, the camp is based in the jungle just encroaching the Yalla National Park boundary. In the evening there is a lone Elephant that comes to drink water just outside the camp's electric fence. First day, we hired the camp's Safari Jeep and visited the Yalla National Park and yes we did see a leopard and lots of other animals. However this was not our best wild life experience, it came after our trip to the National Park ...the Owner Danu asked us what activities we would like to do with the rest of our stay, we mentioned that we like some guided hikes encroaching the National Park, he provided us one of his staff members, who is a local and this fellow took us on 2 to 3 hrs of walking through the jungle twice a day for the rest of our stay ....I wont elaborate what exactly we experienced during our walks as I don't want to get these guys in trouble for taking us for these amazing walks, just outside the Park, mind you the animals don't care where the park boarder is and will venture in and out. All the staff were fantastic and we really enjoyed the dinner by the bong fire and we thoroughly enjoyed star gazing looking at the Southern Cross and the Milky Way. Highly recommend this place ...oh please remember site does not allow wifi and with a good reason:)
Unique and enjoyable experience”
I spent two peaceful nights at Wild Trails. Situated in Yala NP it is a close drive to the main entrance. The first night I went on a nature hike around the camp with one of the owners. Went on a game drive in the morning in Yala - yes, we saw leopards! Dinner under the stars with a roaring campfire was perfect. Food is well prepared. The staff is attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the area. It was a very pleasurable stay.
Great experience Glamour Camping! ”
Perfect place for one or two nights. Close to Yala National Park so you can safari all day and then rest at Wild Trails. It was our first experience "glamour camping" aka glamping. The tents have an ensuite with a western toilet, running water and a shower. There is electricity in the tent too. Super comfortable and fun. The staff were amazing, they made a traditional Sri Lankan dinner for us and we ate around the bonfire. Really good guys. This is a really special, small place buried in nature. A very memorable and fantastic experience!
The most magical trip”
This was the highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka and the rest of the trip was excellent too! Dannu was a very knowledgable guide with a lot of Knowledge of the local wildlife - the rest of the staff were very courteous and helpful too! Returning to camp after an exhilarating safari in which many animals were spotted, we were delighted to find an enchanting scene. with oil lamps lighting the way to our tent and a large campfire positioned under the stars for us to relax with a glass of wine. The food was the best I'd tasted in 2 weeks thanks to the new 18 year old chef who did a brilliant job. Everyone should do this!
This is a great safari - do it now!”
The staff at Wild Trails were just lovely. The food was fantastic (Sri Lankan better than western, so ask for that), the camp fire, looking at the star by night. Then in the day going into the Park, learning about the wildlife from Danu, an ex ranger who accompanied us and who just loves birds and animals. We saw leopards, sloth bear, elephants and lots of grumpy wild boars, to name a few. Plus the landscape is lovely. It is cheaper than some other tours too - not a bad thing. The tents have beds and a shower and even a real loo. It's glamping not camping and just can't recommend it highly enough.
Sleep in the middle of nature”
The whole night was a memorable experience, starting with the camp fire and later with the dinner, which was interrupted by some eyes staring at us (were found to be wild water buffaloes). It misses to have options for the food, specially I would enjoyed to have some srilankan choices. Also have into account that you're in a camp in the jungle, so electricity is a problem, even to charge your phone. However the overall experience was fantastic, an experience to remember.
Recommend the night dinner, specially”
First time for the camp staying in the wild trails, if never have such experience then it is worthy. I personally like the books in the lounge, free to read, very good books.
It was a memorable, out of the world experience. ”
It was an out of the world experience for my family. It was our first adventurous outing which turned out to be the best. Luxury amidst nature was truly a memorable one for us and a great bonding time too. Thanks to Mr Melinda and his staff for their remarkable hospitality. They made our stay even a memorable one and we surely look forward to our next trip.
gave locatie, goed personeel, complete ervaring”
