Great location and price for Manhattan”
We wanted a hotel - not a hostel, and New York hotels are very expensive, so I was a little wary about this one, but I need not have worried. The Windsor is a boutique hotel next to a park, ideal if you want to get to know real New York people. Grand St station is around the corner, so it is easy to travel anywhere - the 7 day pass was great value at around $29. Easy walk to plenty of cheap places to eat in Chinatown, and Mulberry Street is only a couple of streets away. Would definitely stay here again.
Great value and location”
This was my second stay at the Windsor Hotel and I was very satisfied once again. The price was very low compared to most other hotels, and the proximity to Chinatown and SoHo (and subway lines) were excellent. It is by no means a luxury hotel; rooms are pretty sparse and it is no frills, but it was clean and a good place to come back to and sleep in after a long day of walking around the city.
Good place in great neighborhood”
This hotel was in a fabulous area for us, very close to the New Museum and Soho, and all the charming bustle and great restaurants of Chinatown. The room was clean but needed a new blanket and probably new carpeting, but the staff was extremely friendly and helpful.
Good location and very nice staff”
Windsor is very near a metro station which makes it easy to go around the city. There are also a number of good and affordable restaurants in the area. The room is very small though but if you're out most of the day, then it should not matter.
I absolutely Love the windsor hotel ”
I loved my stay at the windsor so much that i booked another room. Although they didnt have any wash rags they had tooth brushes tooth paste soap conditioner shampoo . theres free wifi coffee and tea very quiet location and the staff is amazing i give it 5 star highly recommend this location its so affordable and youll enjoy your stay so much that you will want to come back. ... But i also highly reccomend that they get some rags
Very good”
I would only recommend to friends whom I know would not mind the old and dated aspects of the place and could overlook cosmetics and lack of certain amenities. Everything in our room was very old, dated and worn, but that doesn’t bother us, we just showered and slept there. New blinds and curtains would be nice. Clean towels everyday and providing washcloths would’ve also been nice, but based on reviews we were prepared for that and brought our own. The bathroom was exceptionally clean and the room itself was as well. Loved being so close to the subway! Staff were accommodating and pretty friendly. They stored our luggage on site in a locked area on our final day so we could check out and finish sight seeing until we needed to leave for the airport. If you’re looking for fancy, this isn’t it, but it suited us fine. Even though the price was quite affordable for us, it was a little high based on what you actually got for your money.
Pleasant budget hotel”
I was quite satisfied with this hotel: reasonable price, clean and pleasant. The facilities looked tired but that is why it is a 2 stars hotel. The management should install metal handles on the wall in the shower so that seniors can help themselves stepping in and out of the bathtub. I love the firm mattresses here, unlike in many other hotels where their soft mattresses gave me severe back pain and sleepless nights.
no hot water, no storm windows, problematic heat source”
I stayed here in May and thought the Windsor was a good value for the money--in a great location for us and very helpful staff. However, in November, when I visited alone, there were some real problems. Maybe because the hotel was booked I had hot water only two days out of seven in my room. And it wasn't fun taking a lukewarm or cold shower in cold weather. Also the windows in the room weren't storm windows so the cold air came right in. The flimsy short drapes didn't help and the heater blew them out. I finally packed the windows with extra pillows which helped keep the cold out, but then the heater made the room too hot. When I turned the heater off it got too cold, and I had to wake up in the middle of the night and turn it back on. Fortunately I found an extra quilt in the bureau. The carpet could really stand a replacement, and the card key to the door didn't work and after the first few days had to be re-programmed which meant going back downstairs to the desk after I'd come up
Good location in Chinatown Manhattan”
Finding a cheap accommodation in New York is next to impossible. So even if you wanted all the perks you get from a 4-5 star hotel, you would eventually settle for less as the prices of fine hotels are way to expensive. I found this hotel through Agoda and I thought that it's pretty decent and though it's like 2 star price is still on the high side. What I love about the hotel is the location and the friendly receptionist. Also, they have lifts to get to your room unlike other hostels in Chinatown. I was with my parents and carrying heavy luggages through the stairs is not an option. It is very close to a metro and there are several chinese restaurants around.
good budget hotel in chinatown ny”
if you looking good budget hotel in chinatown ny this is the one.
It was really pleasant and nice”
It was pretty comfortable, we had the best view, it was also close to the subway and a park. It's in chinatown so you have a lot of choices when it comes to shopping and food. Staff overall was attentive and helpful.
Nicely surprised”
We booked New year's Eve and the day after(2 days). We got a really good price and received what we called the 'penthouse room'. It was on the top level, 7, having our own lift to the room, which had a private door out to the rooftop...great view for new years! The room was huge, had a queen, double, and single trundle which was more than we needed for 2 people. Bed was hard, but a minor issue, shower great. Room had a mini fridge, air con and desks/tables. We enjoyed our stay!
Exceeds expectations”
Booked this hotel for a last minute trip because it was the cheapest option offering a private bathroom (many others at this price point have shared bathroom). Was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of the room and the lobby area. The king bed in the room was comfortable and the bathroom was adequate though some fixtures were obviously old/stained.
great location ”
being located in chinatown, my immediate thought was that its going to be busy, noisy & messy. in fact its completely opposite, i was a lot much better than i expected, nice & clean. very friendly & helpful staffs, a couple minutes walking distance from the subway line D. really enjoyed my 3 nights stays, highly recommended!
Excellent value and the staff seemed to care”
A great little hotel in a funky part of NYC. To the untrained eye, it could look a little, let's say, dated, however the warmth of the staff (I refer to the lovely lady who checked us in early), the cleanliness - they were always cleaning - and the size of the rooms, $700 for four nights' stay for three people was frankly amazing. Thank you very much!
Very recommendable for the price.”
We expected something much worse after reading other reviews but surprisingly, we were very content with this hotel for the low price we paid on a summer weekend. Conveniently located in Chinatown, 5 minutes away from the beautifuland lively Little Italy . The room was clean, and the bed quite comfy.
Its close to NY China town”
Its not bad if you want to stay for a day or two. And it is close to NY Chinatown, you can go shopping easy.
I had a peaceful stay in this affordable hotel”
3 minutes walk to Grand St subway station, this hotel is nothing fancy but it gives you the basic: clean bathroom, comfortable firm mattress, and is quiet at night. Will stay here again, unless they raise the price.
Affordable hotel at a great location”
looking at the other reviews I was reluctant to book this hotel, but I didn't have any other options as I wanted to stay in downtown. To my surprise, the hotel turned out to be a good value for money hotel and I will definitely come back here again.
Spend Your Time and Money Elsewhere”
I was EXTREMELY disappointed with the Windsor Hotel. The location near the B and D Subway lines in NYC and in a safe neighborhood were over-ruled by thoughtless customer service. 1) When I first entered the room, I noticed that a bulb in the desk lamp was out. I requested that the burnt out bulb be replaced. Sad to say that OVER MY ENTIRE STAY, NOTHING WAS DONE. 2) In the bathroom, there were large bath towels provided. When I inquired about the availability of hand towels and wash clothes, no one knew what I was talking about. I gave up on getting these two (2) smaller type towels. 3) No mini bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and lotion were found in the bathroom. Instead there were "Made in China" toothbrushes plus toothpaste and lotion in little tear-off containers. 4) Not only were meals on the premises not available, but the staff DID A POOR JOB in recommending places to eat in the immediate neighborhood. 5) The WIFI went out for hours at a time. This is a non-starter.
