Nice place, bad location”
There were certainly a few good things about this hotel, but if I had to do it all over again I would definitely choose somewhere else. The good part about this place is that it's seemingly a brand new establishment. The room I stayed in was in excellent condition, and it proved to be a very comfortable place to stay. Also, the extra amenities (flat screen TV, in-room safe, coffee maker) were a nice touch. However, if your main purpose for visiting Chiang Mai is to see the sights, you'd be much better served by selecting a place closer to town. Woodfield Resort really is quite far away, and I found that tour companies and taxi drivers even charged me extra just for the hassle of making the long trip. It is possible to walk to the center of town, but it took me about an hour to do so, and I even tend to walk faster than most. Realistically, you need to rely on either the red or blue mini-bus to get to and from town, and I can't stress enough how much of an inconvenience it can be, especially in the evening. In an attempt to find a solution to this problem, I inquired about renting a bicycle for the day. I was told that it would cost 20 USD per day, which is four times more than I've ever paid for a similar service anywhere in southeast Asia. If you're coming here with your family purely for rest and relaxation, this wouldn't be a bad choice. However, if you're looking to really experience all that Chiang Mai has to offer, I would highly recommend selecting a different place to stay.
We stayed at the Woodfield Resort for three nights and found it quite relaxing. The only downfall was that the hot tub was being "cleaned" for our whole stay and that was one of the reasons we booked the place. The food/drinks is a bit expensive for the quality, but there were a few good places to eat down the street.
New Resort. Beautiful pool and water slide. Nice rooms. Clean. Good beds. Nice spa and work-out room. Good restaurant and meal specials. Decent breakfast buffet. A bit hard to find off the main road, but an oasis in the city. Car Park.
The pool with the slide was the biggest perk for our stay. We stayed two nights and stayed in the family suite. Unfortunately although we thought it was pool side it was 3 stories high and we had to use stairs. The room was quite dirty and slippers were needed when inside. The hotel opens their facilities up to the local community so at night there are about 40-50 kids swimming in the pool with parents all sitting around the edge eating food. This is neat if you live in the community and are utilizing the pool. But if you're staying there its quite intense and a bit dangerous for young kids as the 40-50 other kids range in age from 3-16. We definitely wouldn't stay there again but since we live in Chiang Mai we may come occasionally on a quiet morning and swim. Again, the pool and especially the slide are great for kids.
when i was booking for hotels in chiang mai i tried looking for places in the old city for convinience sake. after arriving at the airport i was told the hotel was quite far away. so far that it wasn't in the tourist map. they should not have listed themselves as old city in the search engine. i felt that i was trick. to make matters worse not alot of people know about this hotel as it was quite new so i had to call the hotel everytime i took a red car back to our hotel. then there is not much shops around the area. basically you can't do anything without taking a taxi. how could they have said thatthey are nearby tourist attraction. to top it of the shower was terible. if goes hot and cold and the strenght of the water varies at well ( no boiler). worse hotel ever.
A quiet and serene reort.”
No amenities. Need to travel 3km to Night Bazaar where the action is. First night stay at junior suite on level 2 with no hot water and looks old. Second leave it empty as we went for an overnight drive to Maehonson. Came back to stay on third and fourth night. Request for downgrade to deluxe room facing the pool. The room is newer and with hot water running on and off. 2 mornings breakfast was served ala carte as we are the only guest. Only last morning breakfast was buffet style with the arrival of 2 coaches of Caucasian tourist and some locals.
Nice room quiet location
it is rebuilding, a lot of dust, old equipment and not a good location”
I am not recommend this place while I was staying here. it was renovating and a lot of dust. Hotel shouldn't open for booking. I used the fitness center which was full of dust, old and some has broken equipment. There are not any staff in there and around children use the equipment alone!!!
