We booked this hotel because it had good reviews, it’s a nice new hotel (ignore if you’re reading this after 2021) and if you like IKEA you will like this hotel, the staff are very friendly, speak good English and can assist with taxis etc. The hotel is situated just outside the old town and a few minutes walk to the local fresh food market with street food yat night ...

I have been travelling to Chiang Mai since the mid-eighties and staying here on out once a year since 2006. The standard rooms are big and the beds are comfortable. The pool is a huge bonus, for a hotel in this price range. Breakfast is always interesting, with a good selection of Thai and non-Thai dishes, although the juices are always too sweet and the coffee undri...

We are amazed by this beautiful hotel. The rooms are brand new and really stylish. Really nice pool and facilities too. They had a great breakfast and offered fruits, coffee, tea and cooled water for free all day long. The staff was just amazing - always helpful, super friendly and very welcoming. Best hotel staff I've ever met. I highly recommend this hostel when ...

The front desk staff is terrific Pop, Jenny and Joy are fantastic. They really take care of the guests and want you to have a great time. Jenny made sure I had a sweater with me when visiting the highest peak of Thailand and she helped me rearrange my tour when the provider canceled without notice. (Note: the tourist information center was responsible not the hotel). T...

Best experience in Chiang Mai. The staff of hotel are extraordinary nice. They prepared different style of breakfast every day and helped us to cut the fruit. The room is tidy with a medium yard. We took a lots of photos in the outside garden. BEAUTIFUL!! If you are considering about this hotel, you shouldn't miss it!

This is the second time I've stayed at Baan Ratchiangsen and it lived up to all my expectations. The staff is great, they are friendly and helpful. The rooms are big and comfortable. I love the location, a short walk to the Old City and a short walk to Wau Lai Road but on a quiet residential street so you can be sure you'll get a good night's sleep. Initially we had a ...

This hotel is a little gem with a lot of character. The rooms are just perfect and the whole area in the hotel is very nice arranged with a pool in the yard. We can just say the best about this hotel and our stay here. We first booked 2 nights and then wanted more, but it was full. So we had to change the hotel for a few nights until we could return. And we returned wi...

Smith Residence provides basic rooms -- no fancy furnishings or elaborate decorations -- but it's extremely clean, the hotel staff are great, they can help with any problem. The pool on the roof is a great place to cool down on the hot days. Downstairs has a little shop for some basic necessities and the hotel restaurant is decent. Location is good, especially for the ...

This is a big statement but for me this was the best place I have ever stayed in 20 years of travel in SE Asia. I just loved the old colonial style architecture and the beautiful deep dark Burmese teak and red (From the beetle nut colour). Its a good 15-20 mins walk to main road but was no problem as you can get a Tuk-Tuk for about 20B but late at night from Night Bazz...

First, great decoration, comfortable bed and a cute balcony. Secondly, I love breakfast very much! Thirdly, beautiful manager offered much useful information for me. And I changed my schedule suddenly and sport shoes was needed urgently. A pair of beautiful handmake sport shoes was found by the help of friendly house keeper Toto when it was 10:30pm. It was one of best ...

It's different from big hotels or resorts, the boss just like making friends in this guesthouse. If you do not mind being a kind neighbors just choose this place. Houses are newly decorated, a/c are powerful and each room get a balcony. Smoking and eating smelly food are forbidden, but you can do this in the courtyard or in the balcony. No mosquito at all. There's a ki...

This was a very nice place to stay, with helpful staff, good location walking distance to Chiang Mai gate for food, clean and comfortable, and great breakfast. The rooms all have different decorations, and I wish we could pick from the website. The first room we got (blue room, kid-style decoration) was not my style, but we could change easily and all the other rooms I...

My first impression of this place is the room. It is almost like a converted container with large sliding glass door covering all the front. It allows full sunlight in. You can close the curtain for your privacy. The room itself is quite small but the space is cleverly used with foldable desks from the wall. Downstair is a small restaurant, Guu, specialised in roti. T...

When I arrived late at night, the front desk thought we have not paid via Agoda. The bill she showed me said 2,500 ish Baht for 2 nights for a triple room. You do the math. But we were too tired to argue. As for the room, very spacious and clean. A free mini bar with drinks and snacks. Very thoughtful! The only strange thing is that the bathroom is outside the bedroom...

Good basic clean facilities, great for the money. Good location, scooters available for rent cheap, book tours, good breakfast . The best part of the hostel is the owners and staff. They are amazing! So welcoming and helpful, they make you feel like part of the family. 100% would return :)

If sleep isn't important to you then this is the hotel for you. It's the noisiest hotel I've ever stayed in. Our air conditioning kept making loud banging/cracking noises intermittently during the first night and seemed to be blowing out warm air, regardless of which setting we put it on. We were also woken multiple times by the people above us scraping chairs across t...

This was the best decision I could've possibly made; in fact it's been so good, that I've stayed on for now more than a week; possibly will stay more- as many seem to do. There's a sense of family; a real atmosphere of concern & care, & people are quite kind. They've done well more for me than any place I would've asked. Incredble. Highly recommend this place. Can...

Was a nice place. Staff was friendly and helpful. Booked last minute and ended up being a good deal and pleasant stay. The room was nice, a bit of old furniture but it was ok. The power pressure was low as we were one the second floor but it was still acceptable. The overall hotel is antique and looks a bit old, but the environment was relaxing and calm, so it was nice...

Such a great hotel! The pool was amazing, great sun-beds and frangipanis all around it. Bed was super comfy, clean fluffy towels, spacious room with a cupboard and bedside tables. Beautiful view of the mountain (and sunset) from the West side. Didn't eat in restaurant but there's some really good, cheap places a few minutes away.

I stayed at absolute house for 3 nights, and had a wonderful time! The rooms are clean, the staff are super cool and helpful (shout-out to Flame, who went out of his way to help me get to Phu Chi Fa from Chiang Mai, awesome dude), a chill vibe, I met many nice people there (when you’re traveling alone, that’s always a plus), and also booked a neat tour and a cooking cl...

Helpful and polite staff. Spacious and clean room with good air-conditioning. Quite a hard bed (same as nearly all beds in the hotels/resorts/guesthouse in Thailand). No shower curtain, so the toilet bowl gets wet too. Great location as it is very close to the Saturday walking street/night market at Wua Lai Road.
Cheap places to stay in Wua Lai

This hostel was took me by surprise. The dorms and bathrooms are what you would expect for the price, but it is really the service that made this place memorable. The owner is so sweet and will do what she can to always accommodate and make sure you have a great stay. She gives great rates on all tours when booked through her, this month she was also offering a free ni...

I stayed several times at Chiangmai Backpack House over the past 2 weeks. I kept coming back because the owners are such lovely, accommodating people! The dorms are very good value too. The female dorm was quiet, the beds are quite comfortable and it's very safe as each bed as a locked space (bring your own padlock). The rooms giving on the street are more noisy but no...

I had a very nice stay at this hostel. It is new, kept very clean, and staffed by very good people. It is a bit of a walk from the center of the old city, but there are plenty of good restaurants, 7-elevens, bars, and markets very close. The hostel even has a resident puppy that is both adorable and fun to play with. I'd definitely stay again when I am visiting Chi...

Nice place. It was new in Chiang Mai. Hostel area were clean and good design. Share bed very comfortable in use. Share bath room is conveniences and large. Complimentary white bread, coffee or tea which all day serving us during stay. Good location to directly old city or visiting around. Near by Robinson mall by walking only 5 minutes. Access to Chiang Mai airport wi...

I checked in much earlier before time. There was no maid at that time so the receptionist went up to prepare the room for me. I was amazed by her. The room was nice. Only sometimes I heard loud noises from the next building cuz it's during construction. It didn't disturb me so much though. Overall was nice.

We had a great experience. Budget was the first thing we had in mind and this place was definitely more than we expected. Very clean and quiet, just a short walk to the South Gate (10min) and súper friendly staff. We have been traveling for a while so we spent a lot of time in the hostel resting and everything was great.

Super cute hostel. Beautiful rooftop and great breakfast! Awesome location that really appreciated. I felt safe walking at night (pretty quiet) but close to the town where everything and anything you want is! They had bed bug problem when I was there and they had to move us but they returned our money and really took care of us. Hopefully the problem is solved by now!...

We loved our stay, we ended up booking longer than we expected. Allan is so friendly and helpful and the whole place has a chill vibe. It's in a great location right next to laundry if need be, cute bakeries and 2 minutes to the old city walls. The Saturday night walking market is right around the corner. Our room was the double budget (shared bathroom) but was very cl...

We received a warm welcome from the receptionist and was given detailed information as well as being provided with a map of the local area. I was pleased with the location of the hostel. It was on a quiet cul-de-sac but conveniently located a 5-minute walk from shops and local food market and a 10-minute walk from the city centre. I stayed in a standard room with a qu...

The staff was so nice and friendly. The decor is beautiful and modern. Breakfast was wonderful. I stayed in the 6-bed dorm and in the private room and both were great! There is a lady in the lobby that will help you book tours. Definitely suggest talking to her when you get there to book the best tours for your stay. The location is a little far away from the action, t...

this place is the best! this is one of these places that makes you so happy you listened to the reviews and booked it. i loved naruncha so much i am going back for 6 more nights! the location is good, about a 10 minute walk down a side street outside of old city. the place itself is ok, nothing to write home about. but the ladies who work there make it feel like home. ...

This place was unique and one of the best hostel I have ever stayed in. Loved it so much I stayed for five days. Breakfast was good, and the staff were accommodating in all hours of the day. The room is clean and tidy, the environment is so elegant. And the hotel owner is very warm and kind, helping us to contact the motorcycle rental place and lead us to the local fruit marker at night. She made us breakfast every morning when we were there, and it tastes great.Everything is perfect, and we will definitely live here again if we have a chance!!!

4-star hotels in Wua Lai

I'm reluctant to rate this place as I kind of would like to keep it a secret because it is so special. I had been traveling with my 21 year old for about 10 days. I was on a budget so I booked a cheaper room near old city. It was what It was dirty and the hardest bed I've ever had. I decided to spend 20us dollars more and boy was it the best decision I made. From the m...
