Nice and helpful owner and staff”
The owner and staff is the biggest plus for this hostel, they were super friendly and helpful! The guests were all friendly too so it got nice atmosphere. Location is good, in the nice, quiet corner next to the resort town, Mount Wuyi in the back. Nice food market, restaurants nearby.

Comfortable room, very reasonable price”
We spent one night here and enjoyed our stay. The vibe is decidedly backpacker, but despite being in my 40s and well past my youth hostel days, my husband and I were comfortable here in one of the private rooms. It was an easy walk into town and a somewhat longer walk to catch the bus to the park entrance. we took a taxi from the train station and they had a little bit of hard time finding the place since it's not visible from the street, but as long as you know that, it's not too hard to find. We had both dinner and breakfast at the hostel both of which were tasty and very homey served in a casual, family style with other guests. it was a nice way to get to know to our hosts and other guests. Wu Yi Shan in general was a pleasant, relaxed place to visit. I would have liked to have spent more time there.

Decent stay”
The location on the agoda map is incorrect. It's on the other side of the river. The location was fairly good. It was about a ten minute walk to the shuttle bus that takes you to anywhere in the About 5-10 m to food. When we arrived the lady checking us in made a detailed itinerary and helped us buy tickets for bamboo raft and into the mountain (bring your student card for a discount). That evening she also made tea, there were snacks and we all had a good time. The next day she wasn't there and no one else spoke English. It was more difficult to deal with the guy working the front desk. Our room was kind of dirty. The walls looked a bit moldy. The bathroom door never closed and was always open an inch or so. The water from the shower never fully drained so there was always an inch of water on the floor. Nice place. Nice people. Cheap. We LOVED WUYISHAN!

excellent location for sightseeing and relaxing”
location for hiking; good staff performance; comfortable atmosphere
don't worry about the sightseeing because it's just walking way heads to Wu'yi moutain. very nice local village and now become a gathering place for all travellers, standard rooms as well as different type of dormitory. breakfast was just fine which was really simple congee, boiled eggs, chinese buns and fried dough, if you're looking for something elegant then it'll not be your choice. outside of village you may easily find lots of local restaurant and food market, cheap & interesting.

A very charming backpacker location”
Location, friendly staff, tea ceremony
We had a pleasant stay in Wuyishan. The location of the hostel is exellent, just at the border of the Wuyi scenic area, but not in the middle of the city, which is very touristic. You can start hiking directly from the hostel, if you follow the brownish doted lines on the map. These paths (some of them seem to be the tea picker’s paths) are definitly more adventurous and authentic than the regular touristic tours, that they will try to sell you! We had some fantastic hikes through this unique Wuyi landsacpe, mostly by ourselves. We were there in April/May, thus during the tea picking season. We heared the tea picker ladies chattering in the bushes and crossed the way of many men carrying the heavy bags full of tea leaves. The map of the area is quite basic and you need to find your way by looking for the rivers and understanding the topography too. Although we didn’t do the regular tourist tours, we had to buy the entry ticket to the scenic area, as there might be some spot checks. The hostel itself is basic and very charming, but seems to lack some clear guidance. Certain areas are rather untidy, messy and the cleanliness could be better. It wouldn’t need much to actually make it 5* backpacker place! At some point, we had a little visitor in our room, a mouse, but thanks to a devise with ‚anti mouse odour’ it left the room very quickly. You have this in every room and it is just important to know the purpose of the devise, so plug it in:)! The staff was very friendly and if you are interested you will be introduced to the tea ceremony tradition. Wuyishan is famous for its tea and you can try and buy different types right there. One staff member, Wendy, is very passionate about it and will tell you all about it, from the differences of the teas, to how to prepare and taste it, wonderful! There is a supermarket close by and a very authentic breakfast place, where they serve tasty noodle soups and fried dumplings, freshly made right on the spot.
