Beijing in 4 days”
The staff at Xiao Yuan especially Yang and Ting Ting were very kind and accommodating , making my stay there very pleasant . Also the location was great so close to many main places of interest. Tianamen , The forbidden city, the old food market. Taking the bus and subway was also very close by and easy to use. The shopping areas and places to eat was also good. I highly recommend staying here for your visit to Beijing.

Great location, lovely staff but...”
Great location, lovely and efficient front desk staff but we had a tiny dingy room and there was an ever present smell of drains. I wish I could be more positive about our room at Xiao Yuan Alley Hotel because the front desk staff are wonderful and will bend over backwards to look after their guests. Our outings were arranged for us and recommendations made and all were excellent. Breakfast was off a menu with a decent selection but relatively expensive. They happily opened early for us the day we went to the Great Wall. We are both fairly active seniors and managed to walk from the hotel to, and around, the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, to the subway and to an excellent Peking duck restaurant the hotel recommended. The hotel is not far down Lishi Hutong with plenty of good eating places very close by.

Lovely Hotel”
The Xiao Yuan Alley Hotel is a very nice little hotel the staff are most helpfull and try very hard to make your stay as comfortable as possible the only problem is it is hard to find needs a street sign at the corner food there is okay but it is better to eat outside as there are endless food outlets on the street it is a very good location close to most sites

Very nice hotel in walking distance to subway”
The hotel itself is very nice decorated, clean and comfortable at reasonable price. Only one of them can speak english but all of the staffs are very helpful. The one who can speak english was there only during the day but those who could not speak english gave a lot of effort in helping us find our ways. And they even came out to see us off in front of the hotel which was quite nicely surprising and lovely. We had to walk a bit to get to the subway but the distance was ok. If you are not too tired you can even walk to Wangfujing which is the shopping street where there is a night street food which was quite pricy but worth checking out. The food at the restaurant on their rooftop is good but not really local food. The staffs in the restaurant were very attentive. Nice atmosphere!

Lovely people and good location”
Just want we wanted... nothing fancy yet in a typical hutong and we could converse with the staff in basic English. We had to change rooms half way through our stay. This might bother some people however we are pretty easy going. As it turned out, it was in our favour as we had a slightly newer room with better shower water pressure. It also meant we discovered the roof top balcony which was great to relax in each morning with our breakfast delivered upstairs to our table. Some people may see the rooms as a little small but if you don't plan on staying in your room the entire time it shouldn't be an issue. The staff were only too willing to help, knew how to get anywhere in Beijing and made sure we had written directions in Chinese. Most importantly we (two girls) felt safe walking through the streets at night back to our hotel.

OK”
Good things: staff was very nice and supportive. location although not very far away from Forbidden city, but you can not walk to there. Subway stations were about 1 km away. Room was small. even bathroom was very small. there was no mirror out side bathroom. Single a.c. was provided for room. if you draw curtains which devided the room, no a.c. cooling going to main bed. With minor planning and investment, these issues can be resolved.

Beautiful hotel & location ”
We stayed here for 5 nights based on other reviews we'd read and we were not disappointed. Lovely traditional neighbourhood with great eateries, short & pleasant walk to the metro, hotel has been designed in the most beautiful way. Our stay was wonderful. We arrived early after getting train from the North and then spent a couple of hours in the cafe upstairs having breakfast and using the wi-fi, and just enjoying the surroundings. Room had no windows but not a problem, decoration was lovely.

Cute hutong hotel ”
decorated nicely & immaculate. staff was friendly & helpful. rooms were small, but that was to be expected. internet and shower both worked perfectly. we'd stay here again in a heartbeat. the area is safe to walk in day or night, complete with friendly locals & lots of good inexpensive food up and down the alley to pick from.

Highly recommend!”
Location is good,8mins walk to either chaoyangmen or dengshikou subway station. U got all reasonable price restaurants and convenient stores around the hotel. Staffs are helpful and friendly. And they provide daily room cleaning and change of towel! We love this place and definitely recommend to everyone!

Room had seen better times”
The hotel is located in an authentic and vivid hutong (alley) of Beijing and close to the main attractions. The alley is a little dark at night but there are a lot of options to eat at and even a laudry nearby. The staff are all youngsters and try hard to help you with any questions. But to be honest our room was quiet shabby and had seen definitly better times: we had fungi at the window, the wallpaper came down, the room was really small and "overfurnitured". And the Wifi worked unfortunately very slow. In the end not a good value for that money, sorry!

Great location ”
This hotel is perfectly located in the Lishi Hutong. You can walk to two different Metro stations. There are some restaurants near as well. The hotel room was clean but unfortunately we could not open the small window. As the bathroom was rather smelly this was a weak point of the room. But the staff was always very helpful and polite. We would recommend a room with a window.

Lovely hotel with friendly service”
Very helpful and friendly receptionist ( Miss Apple ) has made our arrival and check in process a pleasant experience.Able to answer our questions and inquiry about Beijing tour. I liked the small bar next to the reception area where we could have drinks and enjoyed our breakfast conveniently. The hot water heater was working well and this was important during the winter because we took bath every morning.

Hutong living with today's modernities”
We stayed for 3 nights in early March. This hotel provides a wonderful experience of hutong living as it is set amongst other authentic hutong houses that are still being occupied by families. The quiet ambience along the hutongs in the area was a marked contrast to the big shopping centres we are so used to. Very refreshing. We had a large room with a good clean comfortable bed. Access to Beijing's subway was easy. A 10 min walk brings you to 2 stations on 2 separate lines. Most attractions like Wanfujing, Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are 2 to 4 stations away. The reception staff were young and enthusiastic. One bad point was they did not supply shampoo and shower gel on a daily basis, so we had to request for it. Other than that, it was a most memorable experience staying at this hotel.

Siheyuan hotel in an old hutong neighborhood”
I like the hotel. The staff are friendly and can speak English. The hotel is also centrally located, so traveling to the tourist locations or to the bar district at Sanlitun is easy. The room is a tad small though. The hotel is also located some 10 mins' walk from the nearest metro station at Chaoyangmen. Those of you arriving on the Airport Express train at Dongzhimen Station may consider taking a taxi to the hotel instead. The trip should be about 12 RMB.

Excellent Hutong”
Couldn't fault this place for authenticity and charm. Easy to get around from there and we ate at a few of the places in the same street and they were cheap and delicious (no English spoken just pointing!). Top: make sure you exit Chaoyangmen station at H exit!

Very helpful staff who speak excellent English”
This is a basic, but very clean hotel with very helpful staff who speak excellent English. The rooms are comfortable, if a bit on the small side. The hotel is just around the corner from some very good and cheap restaurants. It is also about 10 minutes walk from the nearest subway station. I recommend this hotel as a convenient place to stay, and which is good value.
