Great stay in a traditional Ryokan. Worth n value for money. Walkable distance from Kyoto station.”
First time in Kyoto. Would be good to indicate the direction to the inn. But not difficult to find using GPS. Staff is very friendly and helpful for direction to popular tourist area. Have a great stay and will recommane to friends. Cheers good job and keep it up.

Great for a no frills stay”
Super basic room with shared bathroom but was all we needed for an affordable room in Kyoto. Definitely no frills but the rooms were clean and hot water for tea and Yukata provided. Good central location.

love the feel of the place. feels like authentic japanese room. location have alot of cool places nearby like a japanese common bath place. although it's 2 bus stop away from kyoto station but its manageable. unfortunately the only negative about this place is that they only have 1 shower and they dont have microwave.

Incredibly atmospheric location. Spartan, but clean facilities (in keeping with the ryokan approach), run with great efficiency. Would recommend.

Experience traditional Japanese living ”
The ryokan is located in a very quiet neighborhood, and is a 5 minute walk away from the train station. It is very clean, the staff are very friendly and courteous, and the general atmosphere is very calm and relaxing. Being a traditional Japanese accommodation, facilities were basic and guests need to quiet at all times.

Quiet place but far from downtown area”
This guesthouse is located in a quiet neighborhood between Kyoto Station and the downtown area. Some local restaurants very nearby that usually closed early, others on the way to the city center. Rooms were comfortable. Bathrooms were separate from the rooms but shared by all the guests. Can get noisy when there are many guests, but this should be expected in a typical Japanese style room.

Very Nice Japanese Guesthouse”
I am really glad I got to stay at this Guesthouse. My room was spacious and comfortable and felt like a more traditional experience than I would have gotten elsewhere. Plus solid value for the money! Thank you Yadoya Hiraiwa!

Old-fashioned Japanese Ryokan”
This place is truly historical.. Apparently it has been running for decades as you get that cold war era Japanese Ryokan.. The building looks old (in a good way). Although it is tad hard to find at first, once you find it, it is actually quite easy. On top of that, Yadoya is 5-7 minutes walking distance to Gion shopping district. Highly recommended!

Fantastic Traditional Japanese Ryokan”
Very friendly and helpful staff who can speak basic English. They allow us to drop our luggage before check in time. The room is CLEAN & Big with Tatami floor, There are futons, yukata, cloth hangers, bath towels, tea set provided. They have 3 bathrooms and 4 toilets. The neighbourhood is very quiet. 10mins walk to subway station(shichijyo station). Definitely will come back again! P/S: The ryokan is very full during peak season, need early reservation.

Poor location and facilities, DONT stay here”
It was my first time to Kyoto and I highly recommend all solo female traveler NOT to choose this place. Poor location, poor facilities, toilet was horrible, tv was not working and I can only watch 1 channel and wifi wasn't working well too. It was so bad that I almost decided to shift out that night itself just that it was quite deserted so I stayed a day, quickly booked another hotel and check out the next day though I was supposed to stay for 2 nights! As opposed to what was indicated in the summary, I took more than 1 hour from Kyoto station to get to this place as it is really quite hard to find. In fact, I actually sought assistance from the info counter at Kyoto station who told me that it is really quite far and I should take a bus. But in the end, I was directed to take the wrong bus too. After leaving my stuff, I did try to get direction from the counter staff on how to get to Kyoto station by walking. It did look simpler but I decided to use google map and was brought around through back lane. Usually if you have taken a route once, you will recognize the route but..I had problem getting back to this place. Even when I ask the local, they tell me that this place is really far from Kyoto station though I'm already at the side that is nearest to this place. In the end, I was walking through back lane and it was dark and deserted and definitely feel really unsafe to be taking this route! I had to ask people few times before I finally got to my destination! Back at this place, as the recep closes at 9 and anyone can access this place since it doesn't require any access card n that it is opened all day, as I stay in the first room, I don't feel safe at all. Furthermore, the room lock is no different from the toilet lock at public toilet just that you need to turn it twice to lock it, I kept waking up as I'm afraid that someone may come into my room. Because of that, I didn't really dare to go to the washroom at night in case there's weird people inside
