Comfortable and Convenient stay”
The room is spacious enough as I am travelling together with my 2 young children. Overall is a pleasant stay, and my kids love the host's dog so much, will revisit again in future.
Good location and very tidy. ”
I stay for 2 nights, the location is excellent for getting the train. 10mins walk from Hakata station, 2mins walk from Gion station. I can also walk to Donki is also not far away, I follow the google map for walk to be arrived in 10mins. The room is tidy and clean. Toilet and bath rooms share with others as traditional Homestay. I will stay in here when I come to Fuk next time.
Just for good location”
Nothing worth it. only for good location.
Accomodating, friendly and nice owner. They allowed me to leave my items for more than a day for going to Nagasaki. Big room for single and good enough for couple. Worth the money. Will defenitely stay again.
Second Time Back, Loved It Again”
I've been to Yamamoto Ryoka twice in the past few years and both times I've had an absolutely lovely stay. The owners, an elderly couple, are very sweet. The rooms are definitely not huge but comfily sized and I slept so well on the floor futon and tatami matting. My room for 3 people even had its own mini-balcony, TV, and sink! The huge family baths are great for a group soak after a long day of touristing, and the location is very convenient and close to great sights such as the Kushida Jinja (home of the Gion Matsuri), Canal City (a lovely huge mall), and tons of nightlife. The Gion subway station is only a stone's throw away, and you can easily walk to the more central Hakata station as well. All in all, Yamamoto Ryokan was well-loved by all members of my traveling party. We also loved the owners' dog, Chami. :) Thanks for a great stay!
It's near subway Gion sta. and hotel is convenient”
It's nice for those who want to stay near subways station. Everything is convenience but the shower room we have to wait a bit if there's other customers still use it as it has about 2rooms in the first floor. But it's really nice for staying.
Locate near subway and close to shopping mall”
I stay a night at this hotel. The hotel owner allow early check-in for me ( 10:30 AM ) The service was nice, location is good. it locate near subway station and big shopping mall. The only problem is room rate which consider expensive compare to western style hotel.
Good Japanese Style”
Nice place, good location, 5min walking from everywhere (subway, shopping mall, night life, bars). Nice traditional Japanese style hotel. Room is big enough for whole family, complementary tea is provided all the time. Staff is an old couple ( I just saw the old guy around the place) and he was very friendly and nice, despite not talking English at all. Their dog is also cute. Internet facilities are very good and you find wireless signal everywhere around the hotel.
Great value, great location. No complaints :,)”
It was easy to find, near canal city shopping mall. Staff were nice, no English (we speak Japanese so wasn't a problem). Non Japanese speakers should be fine too though! Free Tv, air conditioning in rooms. Was impressed by room size (big by Japanese hotel standards). Shared bathrooms which are very clean and nice. Also there is a cute dog that lives there. Will stay here again.
feel like home! ”
I am very impressed. Staffs are friendly. The room and futon was cleaned everyday, as well as the tea pot, hot-water pot and 'Yukata'. Toilets and bathrooms are clean. Towel, soap and shampoo are available (free of charge). Next time in Fukuoka, I will definitely stay here again.
This was a lovely, welcoming family-run ryokan. ”
It was a lovely stay. We felt welcomed and immediately at ease. Our traditional room was comfortable, including crisp linen and robes. Our host graciously helped us carry our heavy suitcases up the stairs. He was easily understood even though we cannot speak Japanese. He gave us a guided tour of the facilities even though we arrived late at night. The bathrooms are communal style for two at a time and clean. We didn't have any food from the Ryokan but there were plenty of easily reached places to experience Japanese food and the Hakata area. Make sure you leave some time to find a taxi if you need to catch a bus/train from the nearby terminals as it took a little time to arrive after our host had called one for us. The photos on Agoda for this hotel are accurate. It was really sweet how our hosts farewelled us in the morning. It was like saying good bye to a favourite Aunt and Uncle. Don't forget to return the room key before you leave!
not recommended for tourist ”
if you are looking for a hostel just for sleeping, it's still ok. just don't expect so much to this hostel. i booked a family room, which mentioned suitable for 5 people to stay, luckly i am just 4 people; because the room is too small, its already very nallow for 4 people to stay, bad environment. not suggested and won't come back again.
Perfect for the price”
Great! Ryokan-style hotel so the room is sparse with a mattress on the floor. Very comfortable, slept like a log. Had tv and internet (NOT wireless), and the metro and convenience stores were literally one minute away by foot. Had shared bath facilities but I never had an issue getting privacy.
Great location, easy access but lack of service”
Yamamoto Ryokan is just great for a short stay in Fukuoka! You can easily access to any destination on foot, by bus or by train (either Japan Railway or Subway). The room is not that big but is enough for a solo traveler. However, the bathroom is not very friendly as it might be occupied longtime by other family, or group visitors. In a word, it's worth visiting due to the location and access! The rate is also affordable!
Paper thin walls”
We were placedvright next to the dining area. We could literally hear the owner use cellophane wrap in the kitchen.
Nice cozy place in the heart of the city”
A nice place to stay in the heart of the city.
Japanese style hotel. Good breakfast”
The heart of city”
Worth staying again”
You get what you pay for.”
Pros: location / price. Cons: very old inn /staff has very limited English / rooms are very cold in the winter. This is not a bad place but a person could find a much better place in the same price range.
