“Our hot-spring mountain oasis just outside Taipei City”
We always love our stays at the Tien Lai Resport on Yangmingshan. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable for a family of four. The outdoor hot springs are wonderful and relaxing for the adults, while the kids love the water world. My favorite thing about Tien Lai is probably the location, set high in YMS National Park. It's such a delight to sit back in a hot tub and admire the view marvelous mountain view and take in the fresh air. It's such a refreshing change of pace from Taipei urbanity! I will admit that the resort is a little bit dated, particularly the gym and the kid's room. But nobody really comes to Tien Lai for those things. The breakfast offers a good blend of Asian and Western options, but in my experience the dinner was not worth the exorbitant prices they charge (particularly for children). I would rather drive into the nearest town for food. Overall, Tien Lai is still one of our favorite resorts for its location and quality of the outdoor hot springs. It's also great if you just want to come and enjoy the pools during the day - they offer day passes, too.
