Nice and new hotel with very friendly staff”

      Staff, Internet, Breakfast

I loved my stay there. This is a new hotel, modern and good internet. The Breakfast was great with choices for both Westerners and Asian patrons. Only 2 persons speak english, the rest of hem speak chinese, this is a chinese hotel in Chinatown but despite of that, the staff will try to help as much as they can. Before going to the Bus station to go to Bago, the receptionist called the Guest house there and sak the taxi to call them again to give them the bus number when Ill reach the bus station. As a result i had someone waiting for me in Bago at the bus station (BUs station there = side of the road). I came back to Yangon Regency Hotel twice and will certainly go back again.

Staff was amazing, they made our stay very comfortable. All of the staff members are welcoming, friendly and vey helpful. Beds and pillows are very comfortable. Room is clean including the bathroom.

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights with my friend and we loved it. Very helpful staff, comfortable and clean rooms, breakfast inclhded, it was nice. Location is good too, very close to Sule Pagoda and easy to explore the downtown Yangon walking. Taxis are quite cheap so any other attractions are also easily reached. I highly recommend this hotel for a short break in Yangon.

      Comfortable Hotel in Downtown Chinatown”

Comfortable Room, Fast Internet, Good Location

The Yangon Regency is a very nice hotel downtown. It is close to many diners and much shopping. There are many tourism sites in the area. The Shwedagon Pagoda is about 30-45 minute walk away. The walls in hotel are a little thin and if you have groups deciding to have conversations in the hallway you will hear everything. Even with its shortcomings, the hotel was comfortable and I would stay there again if in Yangon.

Walking distance from Sule pagoda, Friendly staff, Hi speed wifi

Simple but comfortable hotel. It’s easy to get around center of Yangon and very near from restaurant area. Internet access in Myanmar is quite slow and unstable, but in this hotel, hi speed connection is available. The staff welcomed me with open arms and always helped me. After staying this hotel, I traveled the countryside and when I got back to Yangon on the last day in Myanmar, I visited the hotel just to say hello to them before my flight time. Then they let me come in and gave me a breakfast though I couldn’t stay at. And they kept my baggage so that I could enjoy shopping in Yangon for the last several hours in the country. Really great staff.

A really good hotel in a convenient location for exploring downtown Yangon. The staff are incredibly helpful and went out of their way to assist us with a number of things. The rooms are clean and comfortable and have everything you need including aircon, TV and a good bathroom. The free breakfast is reasonable - much better than the basic egg and bread in most places.

      Coming back to friends”

Very friendly and helpful staff, very good and quiet location, good room for money

After my longer stay in Bagan I returned for the last two nights to this hotel before flying back to Bangkok. When I came to the reception I had a big welcome, like coming back to friends. For other aspects I only can repeat what I said in my first comment: very good and quiet location in the heart of Chinatown Yangon, not luxury but good room with all you need. Good to spend some more money and take room with window and balcony. Next time I will visit the Yangon Regency Hotel again - I think this is the main argument.

      Clean, modern, very helpful staff

I recommend this place 100%! Very friendly staff - the owners went completely out of their way to make me feel comfortable, give me directions, suggest places to eat/shop, and were just super helpful in general. They speak Mandarin Chinese, but I think they have limited English proficiency as well. The wifi was very fast and stable. Great clean and modern looking hotel, especially compared to other hotels in Yangon. The doors do let in sound easily, but I only heard people when they were still in the hallway (i.e. noise didn't travel from room to room). There also aren't many rooms per floor so it's not a huge issue. I'm a fairly light sleeper and didn't have any major issues.

Friendly staff, accessible, clean and comfortable room

The hotel staff were extremely friendly and helpful with our requests and queries. The location was excellent too as it is located on chinatown where many roadside stalls and restaurants are. Sule Pagoda, Boyogke Aun San market and Boyogke market are within walking distance. However, do take note of the temperature in the day as Yangon is really warm. There may be blackouts at night but they do not last for more than 10seconds. Rooms for improvement would be the wifi speed and aircon, which was working but the fan speed was not particularly strong.

Not the Hyatt, but a good option in Yangon”

Well-located; helpful reception staff; comfortable room

Chinatown is a busy and exciting place to stay in Yangon, and the Regency is a good option. Do pay the few dollars extra and get a room with windows as 6/8 on each floor are like caves. We found the reception staff efficient and helpful - printing documents, providing a map and giving sightseeing advice and booking an airport taxi. The buffet breakfast was basic, but OK - the only problem was that dishes were not readily topped up, and the only coffee option was a jug of 3-in-1 that soon went cold. The housekeeping staff were slow and didn't seem to have a set routine so we didn't always get our room cleaned. They did provide 2 big bottles of water per day and the hotel lift was much appreciated, as was the hotel generator which kicked in quickly when the local power went off.

      Value for Money”

      Location, Affordability, Clean

Yangon travelers will know that having a nice hotel at acceptable prices is a luxury in Yangon. Yangon Regency Hotel has just that! Basic needs of a traveler is fulfilled at their affordable pricing by Yangon's standards. Best of all was its location, where it is near Chinatown. Streets along Mahabandoola and Anawrahta were very busy with roadside stalls sprung up after 7pm. Highly recommended is this newly opened Sapel Burmese Traditional Foot Spa at Chinatown's 16th Street close to Mahabandoola main road. It is just 3 streets away from Yangon Regency Hotel. I returned to it many times during my stay for the ambience and 5 star service standards inside the massage place. It is truly something extraordinary from Yangon's unkept and dirty streets, especially a haven compared to the busy Chinatown streets outside. I think all tourists should go try out the place, especially relaxing after a day's tour and walk around downtown Yangon. There is nowhere else u can feel so good in the whole of Yangon!

Very good value budget hotel in downtown Yangon”

      Location, cleanness, helpful staff

Very good location downtown in Yangon, the hotel is pretty new so the rooms are still very fresh and clean unlike many other budget places in Burma! Aircon is working as well as hot water, and even the rooms without windows are fine -surely quieter than the ones with windows! The staff has been very helpful with booking taxis etc., and they even allowed us to take a shower and leave our bags when we came back to Yangon for just one day, two weeks after staying there! The hotel has no particular charm but cleanless and location are what made it for us.

      Good Value, Comfortable room”

room was comfortable, internet very good, close to chinatown

The room was comfortable with lots of hot water in the shower. The Regency is in chinatown and excellent chinese food/drinks on 19th street. 35-40 mins walk to Shwedagon Pagoda. Very good value hotel and I will stay here again when in Yangon.

Good downtown location, very clean and comfortable”

      location, cleanliness, newness

The night I arrived in Yangon, I got ill with a temperature and chest infection. I holed up in this Chinese run new hotel for 4 days and was taken to a local clinic to see a doctor by one of the helpful staff. The TV had a link to a 24hr film channel from Macau and I was able to rest and recover in clean comfort with good films on tap. The breakfast was OK but could have done with more fruit. I felt comfortable and safe and was able to drag myself out and eat in restaurants nearby. This is a really good very clean centrally located hotel at a good price.

      Stay with friends”

Very friendly and helpful staff, very good location in the heart of Chinatown, good room for money

First I can confirm what other comments already say: very friendly and attentiv staff - you just feel that you have friends around you, helping you all the time what they can. Second: very good location in a quiet side street leading to two main streets in the middle of Chinatown Yangon. That means that you are very close to local restaurants, shops, street markets and all the streaming life of the city. But because it is a side street not much traffic to drive thru, so you have good sleep in the night. Third: good room, not very big and luxury, but you have all you really need - and a quiet aircondition because new. I had a room with a window and a balcony - I think it is worth to pay some dollars more and can see out, specially when you stay not only one night.

      Comfortable”

Fast Response from staff, city located, transportation convenient

The Hotel is city located and accessible to local store and food hawker just less than 5 mins walk. Easily can get taxi or bus for transportation. While for the hotel, the room is clean and been tidy as request for everyday. Only serving breakfast which is buffet, a simple and healthy one match the hotel budget price very well. The staff is attentive and friendly hence fast service of check in or out. The only improvement i suggest is other occupants staying in the same floor often smoking yet this is non smoking hotel. Perhaps hotel management should take note and allow a place only for smoking. This can solve everyone needs.

      Clean new budget hotel”

      New, Clean, High Speed Internet

Very acceptable clean and new hotel. Counter staff speaks no English. Usual customers are Chinese and Burmese as hotel is located in downtown chinatown area of Yangon and is not close to usual western tourist sites and conveniences. One example being the paucity of indoor sit down air conditioned restaurants. We found only 2 in a 3 mile radius!

Right place in Chinatown for budget travellers”

If you are on budget and want to stay in downtown Chinatown it’s the right place. Bit basic, unfortunately bathroom had bad smell because poor hand basin sanitary fixing (no siphon). Location is good for exploring downtown. Reception only in daytime English speaking staff. Staff friendly and helpful. Breakfast basic Asian. Considering overpriced hotel prices in Myanmar it’s good value for money.
