Charming boutique hotel in a fun shopping district”

Beautiful pool, good breakfast, great location

We had a fantastic and relaxing stay at the Yanatarsri Resort. Coming off a week at a five-star big chain hotel, the Yantarasri was a breathe of fresh boutique hotel air! The rooms were beautifully appointed and the bathroom with rain shower and stones was lovely. I thought the dark teakwood construction of the hotel was really beautiful, and enjoyed all of the lush plants and flowers. Breakfast was good and plentiful (unlike some other places that serve continental breakfast), they had no problem catering to vegetarians, which is always a plus. The Yantarasri resort is centrally located along Nimmanhaemin Road, which is a chic shopping street in Chiang Mai. There are endless boutiques with cute clothes (mainly catering to women) as well as lots of massage and nail places. I get a lot of massages, but I had one of the best massages of my life at a massage place just two blocks from the Resort, across the street from The Salad Concept. There are lots of ATMs around and the ubiquitous 7-11s, as well as a Starbucks just up the street on Nimmanhaemin. It's a short tuk-tuk or taxi ride into the center of town, so be sure to check out Chiang Mai's awesome Sunday Walking Street. The location is also closer to the airport than staying right in the heart of town. Two small downsides: 1) No gym (but I expected that), and 2) there is free wireless, but you have to get these little paper codes from the front desk, and for mobile devices, you have to re-login every time you want to get online. This is a little bit of a pain, but not a huge deal overall.

A great Stay”

Great location, close to a multitude of restaurants and shopping boutiques. Super friendly staff, they go out of their way to accomodate your needs, beautiful decor and spacious rooms.
Some rooms let the sounds of the street including bands playing in the late evening spoil your sleep if you need to be quiet.

I decided to book a room at the Yantarasri boutique hotelin Chiang Mai to celebrate my girlfriend's Birthday. Needless to say that she was very impressed with the location, close to a great street full of restaurants and a great number of boutiques of all kinds, and a myriad of spas and beauty parlours. I think what impressed us the most was the warmth of the reception we received at Yantarasri, the willingness of the staff to answer even our most silly questions and the will to accommodate our most immediate needs in terms of room services or informations for tours, boat cruise and even our next Thai destination. On the first night there we could hear sounds from the street and a band playing in the background. After letting the front desk know, we were promptly moved to a quieter and even better appointed room with no questions asked. Realizing that the same type of accommodation and level of service would cost 3 to 5 times more back home, we were both more than impressed. A place to recommend to your friends

quiet and athmospheric”

hotel ambiance, large beautiful rooms, functional bathrooms, good location

we loved yantarasri resort. built in old lanna style in wood, with large rooms, very stylish bathrooms, nice swimmingpool (although too cold), nice sitting areas and restaurant. in every corner there are beautiful antiques and many plants that add to the beautiful atmosphere of the hotel. it is located in neemanhaemin, a new area of chiang mai, with many restaurants, clubs, galleries and boutiques. we found the breakfast was not too diversified and every day the same (we stayed 6 days).

Hidden Gem in trendy area of Chiang Mai”

Service of Staff, Value for money, Nice cozy rooms with good zen bathroom with stone floor shower and marble vanity. Great location right in the center of trendy area of Chiang Mai.
Room size a bit small, but we had superior rooms. Also no bathtub in superior rooms.

My girlfriend and I have been traveling around Thailand for 2 weeks staying at nice boutique hotels in Bangkok and chiang mai. I would have to rate the service at this hotel one of the best experiences I have had on this trip. The staff is always friendly and willing to go the extra mile to help the guest. We stayed 3 nights and plan on returning for 2 more at the end of our trip. We went out one night to this new whisky dj/live music club down the street. I dont even know what the name of the place is as they had no english sign or english menus, it was a challenge just ordering a drink...but was a great genuine thaiexperience not touristy. Unfortunately the next morning I realized I lost my wallet at the club! The staff at the hotel went out of their way in helping me to find my wallet. Lucky for me the owner of the hotel was there with some friends and overheard my situation. She got on her cell and called the manager of the club for me. Lucky for me again they had the wallet and nothing was missing! A customer had turned the wallet in...I see why so many customers have reviewed the staff and service of this hotel with high marks. It comes down from the attitude of ownership. At the price that I got in low season the quality of rooms, service and location to a new upmarket Chiang Mai area(not the backpacker feel in old town)...this place is a hidden gem. The area is surrounded by nice eateries and more upscale spas. I highly recommend this area for those looking to see a different Chiang Mai than the "old town" area.

Beautiful thai resort in a fancy neigbourhood”

peaceful atmosphere, comfortable rooms and a lot of restaurants and bars in the area.

We stayed 3 nights in Yantarasri, The garden and the style of the building (dark wood) is really nice and sets it apart from the other resorts in Chiang Mai. The rooms where fine, comfortable beds. Little downside is the shower, the temperature was difficult to set o hot / to cold and the shower curtains didn't look that fresh anymore. The location of the hotel is great, there are many restaurants and bars nearby and it's just 10 minutes with the taxi to the towns center, you can even walk if it's not too hot. We had a good time at Yantarasri.

We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed every second. Staff is very helpful and nice. When we arrived and they had a spare Deluxe room they upgraded us for free. It was a room of really big size and the decoration in Lanna style is just lovely. We will go back to Chiang Mai and we will try to stay at the Yantarasri Resort again, it was the perfect stay.

Feel good resort”

Very friendly and good quality for the money
I do not see any

It is the second time that I have the pleasure of staying at the Yantarasri Resort. The first time, I was with a friend and we both enjoyed the quality of the premises, the friendliness of the staff and the convenience of the location. For shopping, there are numerous great shops of international quality, for the commute to town, there are many cheap options although I find that the red taxis are the best option. It is a hotel I would highly recommend for those who need a quality environment, and who feel good when the staff remember you from one stay to the next. Although there may be one or two rooms that are situated close to nightlife noise, the staff will be more than happy to give you other quarters would you request it. A great experience to remember.

Wonderful resort hotel!”

Tranquil, beautiful and affordable.

Beautiful hotel with lush greenery. Love the croaking of frogs at night (not sure if it's real or from well hidden speakers haha but it adds a nice touch to the experience of staying in a resort) as we walked pass the garden. Room and bathroom are spacious and sound proofing is good as we didn't realise it was raining until we drew the curtains. Friendly and very helpful staff. Breakfast was so so. Swimming pool is lovely. It will flood near the junction leading to the hotel after heavy rain so get your rubber slipper ready! All in all it's a very good resort hotel located very near to Chiang Mai old town. The main road Nimmanhemin is lined with nice little cafes, pubs, restaurants, shops, spas and art galleries. Seems to be an up-and-coming art hub. We visited Hong Tauw Inn restaurant twice as it's very good, especially the Northern Thai signature curry noodle Khao Soi.

Many famous Coffee and cake shop around here, also many place to sit and drink for a chill moment at night. From here, it takes only 5-10 min. to City Center for visit the temples and also the Famous Chiang Mai Walking Street (Sat. & Sun. night) However, we recommend the executive room type or executive suite (with indoor private Jacuzzi) at Yantarasri Resort.

Yantarasri Resort - An oasis in the busy city of C”

Traditional Thai furnishings, Helpful staff, Well maintained pool and gardens, realxing.

Yantarasri is an awesome hotel; great furniture, fantastic bathroom, i want to bring all the stuff home and i can because you can buy all the pieces in the room - getting up there in prices for Northern Thailand but well worth it. We were able to walk to the end of our street onto Nimmanhaemin and jump in a tuk tuk - they seemed to be stationed there which is really handy to get around. For $3 the lady tuk tuk driver delivered us across the other end of the city to the night markets. very impressive for a daily event - colourful and charming. lots to do and see (and eat of course). we wandered around and had some dinner and watched the torrential downpour unfold. it was fantastic, roads turning into rivers, unbelievable amounts of water cascading over slight plastic covers the sellers had, each struggling with bamboo props trying to protect their wares from the impact of the water. We extended our stay because we were so impressed with the facilities. something to note, however, the roads around the hotel is near the university and the hospital so it gets incredibly busy and congested during peak times. Also, the yantarasri is not in the middle of the town, it is about a five minute drive or so to the popular walking and night markets. We would stay again.

Great Inexpensive Hotel in Rejuvinated Area”

The Yantarasri is a very nice hotel, especially for the amount paid per night. The rooms are big and clean with very nice bathrooms. The staff was very kind and helpful. The hotel is located in an up and coming area (it seems like a college area) and has a couple of great bars and beer garden style places. Don't worry about being outside of the Old City, as the tuk-tuks are cheap and the Songtaews are very cheap (about 20-40 Baht/person to get to the Old City or Night Bazaar, depending on the method of transportation). There's also free wireless internet.
One of the big cons was that breakfast was not included. There was a restaurant very nearby that served western-style breakfasts if you need, though. In addition, the hotel only provided two bottles of water for the entire day and would charge for more. But you can get more at 7-Eleven for cheap. Neither "con" is really all that bad, but there's not much bad I can say about the place.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Yantarasri Hotel in the Nimenhemin area of Chiang Mai. It's about a 5-10 minute drive in a tuk-tuk or a 10-15 minute drive in a songtaew, depending on other stops, to get to the Old City area. We spent trip to the Old City area for two people, an amount that is easily made up when considering the hotel per-night rates. The staff was very accommodating and ran a very nice place. I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone, but especially people who may have some budgetary concerns. Also, the grounds are very tranquil.

We stayed at Yantarasri for a 3 day weekend. It is in a great spot just off Nimmanhaman road. We loved the room the surrounding area and just had a great time. The staff was very helpful. They wrote directions in Thai for any taxi rides, they helped us book an amazing tour and even gave us pool towels to take with us to use when we were done rafting. Yantarasri Resort”

This hotel is quiet, relaxed and a haven away from the bussle of life.
None.

We enjoyed our stay at Yantarasri Resort very much. From the moment we stepped in to the resort out from the heat of the day we felt we had entered another world. The building is very tastefully decorated and the feeling of entering a teak paradise is soon felt. The outside pool with the spacious deck area for lying and reading while drinking cocktails is a huge plus. The staff were so friendly and helpful that we felt as though we were v.i.p.'s. We would very much recommend it for couples who would like to enjoy a restful respite, to relax from the heat of the day and as a base to explore all that Chaing Mai has to offer.

Amazing Hotel”

beautifully designed pool, gorgeous rooms with lovely bathrooms, courteous staff, conveniently located and good spa, great restaurant
There were too many mosquitoes, especially around the reception area. The hotel does not adequately distinguish between the complimentary water and the for charge water, causing me to get charged for drinking the bottled water. Finally, the hotel is at a significant distance from the center of Chiang Mai.

I had a fantastic stay here. Aside from an incident where I was woken up by my mosquitoes (there really are too many mosquitoes here), the stay was perfect. The staff was polite and pleasant, helping me out with all aspects of my travel plans. The room was beautifully decorated and overlooked the pool. The bathroom, in particular, was nicely designed with stones encircling the entire bathroom. The spa and restaurant are located inside the hotel and offer services/meals at reasonable prices. The best part about the hotel was the pool, though. It was very cunningly designed, with both modern and traditional touches. The water was designed to overflow the boundaries of the pool, similar to pools at modern hotels. The pool was also not chlorinated due to a modern feature incorporated into the pool (this was fantastic). However, the pool was seen at its best when the six stone elephants ringing the pool spurted water out of their trunks into the pool. It was really nicely done. Although the hotel is at some distance from the center of Chiang Mai, it allows a nice escape from the hustle bustle of Chiang Mai and really is only a 100 baht tuk-tuk ride away from downtown. Excellent, excellent hotel.

brilliant area of chiang mai, beautiful hotel and rooms

yantarasri is a lovely hotel with great visual details in the rooms and outside. the area is brilliant, not quite near all the temples and so on but in a vibrant, young and trendy area with designer boutiques, cool cafés and art galleries. it is less full of tourists than the rest of chiang mai, there are more expats and thai people as it is a little more residential. it is very easy to find good food and breakfast in this area. you can take a tuk tuk or song taw to the city centre at the end of the road and be there in 10 minutes.

Thai style architecture, outdoor pool, only 40 rooms, friendly staff

I was visiting and old friend in Chiang Mai and used the Agoda website to find somewhere in the area where my friend lived. The Yantarasri Resort looked good on the website. I was not prepared for how beautiful the Yantarasri was. It is a small boutique hotel with only 40 rooms. The Thai style architecture, outdoor swimming pool and beautifully appointed room were beyond my wildest expectations. The staff were very friendly and helpful with any queries I had. I am looking forward to returning there early next year. I could not recommend Yantarasri Resort more highly.

Nice size rooms, great location and excellent staff.

we've been to chiang mai several times, and the nimman area is our favorite place to stay. we stayed at a budget hotel before yantarasri, and it was definitely worth the little extra money. it was a bit overcast when we stayed, so the pool was a little cold, but still enjoyable. the main street is really bustling with lots of great restaurants, so we didn't have a chance to eat at the hotel. when we walked up from the main road, we were pleasantly surprised at how tranquil it is once you step into the garden/swim area.
