Yeouido hotels & places to stay

My cousin and I went to the GLAD Yeouido Hotel for a short getaway from work and all kinds of stress. Turns out it was exactly what we were expecting. *Despite the main road situated right in front of the hotel, it was super quiet. **Location-wise, it couldn't be any better. It's impossible to miss the hotel because the hotel is literally right in front of Exit 4 of the 'National Assembly' Station on Subway No. Line 9. My cousin lives in a far-away city outside Seoul, but she had no difficulty in finding the hotel. ***Finally, the "AMAZING BEDDINGS"!!! The beddings help make the hotel experience hit the trifecta. I have some serious sleeping problems. However, once I laid down under the fluffy cozy soft blanket supported by the awesome bed itself covered in with a soft linen, I went into a deep deep sleep in a matter of seconds. Good Job GLAD!!! (The only downside during the stay was the morning buffet. In spite of my low expectations, I wasn't quite satisfied)

It was my first stay in the Lexington Hotel, but it will definately not be my last. The prize for this luxury hotel was surprisingly low and especially in the summer the location is perfectly located in Yeouido. It is primarily a business hotel, so when I walk around most of the time I feel underdressed, but nobody comments on that. The rooms are traditional hotel rooms, with a mini-bar and one complimentary bottle of water each day. Also surrounding the hotel there are many chains like Starbucks, Kraze Burger, Dunkin Donuts etc. I will definately book this hotel for my next trip.

The hotel is near to National Assembly subway station (exit 1). Once going out of Exit1, walk straight until you found the gas station, turn right, the hotel is on your left next to Benher Hotel. The airport Limousine bus stop is also in front of exit1, and in front of Lexington Hotel nearby. Very near to the park along Han river, nice view. Many restaurants and coffee shops near the hotel. The IFC department store is at Yeouido station, 1 station far from National Assembly station. The 63 building to see the night view of Seoul is also at Yeouido station and you can take a bus from Yeouido station only 2 stops to reach the building. The hotel room is very big and comfortable, the double bed is also very big (king size), the couch in the room is also big and comfortable. Large bathroom with a big bath tub. The breakfast was OK but the dishes and glasses were not clean enough. The hotel staffs are kind but cannot understand English well. In conclusion, comparing to the price, the size of the room, and the convinience of transportation, I like this hotel.

Exhausted everyday, it's too far away from metro station (15 min walking), but it's very good if you enjoy leisure walking in parks, as two large parks are nearby. The bed (twin room) is much smaller than those shown in the booking. Room is clean but has a smoky smell. Facilities, carpet and curtain are old with stains. Bed sheet has also minor stains. Strong fragrant is applied in the corridor in the so-called executive floor probably to cover the smoky smell. Very simple room setting and facilities. The face, entrance and lobby look like a love hotel and has a lousy nightclub underneath. Don't understand it is rated as 4-star. Value-for-money when booked at a discounted rate (claimed to be 50% in my case around 500 HK$). Air-con is not cold enough for daytime in the summer.

On arrival, it's an impressive building that looks like a classy 5-star hotel. The room itself is not really the size of a 5-star hotel, except for the huge and well-appointed bathroom, but the kind of amenities provided are 5-star quality. However, the room is still bigger than you'd expect at this price, and even includes a comfy sofa in front of the TV. Internet is blazing fast (no WiFi, but I got speeds up to 1.5 MB/sec on the LAN). Can't believe this is only (apparently) a 2-star property. Very high-quality bedlinen and towels. Many freebies in the room, e.g. moisturizer, aftershave, hair gel, hairspray, etc., etc. All quality products, everything with the hotel's name printed on it. The hotel is themed on the movie "Ben Hur", right down to the electronic door card which shows a scene from the movie. That might sound cheesy, but it's not. It features plenty of Greek-inspired columns, fine marble everywhere and neoclassical touches, but it's not over the top. It must have cost a (not so) small fortune to fit out this hotel. The entire hotel is seriously a class act and suitable for businesspeople or tourists alike. It's all rather grand and palatial, making you feel more like a top-billed star in "Ben Hur" rather than one of the 10,000 extras. Breakfast was great, though served from 7:30 - 9:00 only (a little inconvenient). I would definitely stay here again. You'd be hard pushed to find a better value in central Seoul. If you need to take the KAL Limousine back to ICN airport, you have to take a taxi 10 minutes across the river to the pickup point outside the Best Western Garden Hotel.

We had an enjoyable stay. We opted to pay for the breakfast buffet at the time of our reservation. We were so glad that we did! Although many of the items were not typical Western foods, eggs are cooked to order, the fresh fruit was delicious, fresh ground coffee and juices were available too. There were two types of soup offered with breakfast, salad (and kimchi), sweet potato mash, potato wedges and baked beans. I believe that there were two types of cereals available, and friend brown rice as well. Our room was spacious, and it looked like the photos that are available on line. There is NO VIEW from the hotel that we could see. Our window opened to another building along our side. There are parks nearby, so a view really is not all that important. The Metro is also close by. Parking here is FREE! We were amazed that every employee that we met spoke English. We did not have any expectation of this. The bathroom doors will not close tightly because they do not lock, it is more of a glass door. The towels were by far the best that we have had in Korea, China, or Japan. The bed was firm, but comfortable. I would consider staying here again.
