Excellent”
There are a few negative reviews complaining about some facilities not working made me almost cancelled my reservation with YHA at last minute. Thank God i didnt. I had a good stay there. Water heater, shower, tap water, toilet working well. Room heater isn't that hot but is working fine. Bed is pretty comfy. Staff cleaned my room in the morning. Upon check in, counter staff also reminded to call out within 24 hrs if any problem with the room facilities. Location of the hostel is superb. Cafe at its 1st floor is pretty affordable and opens til late. So its very convenient and very much value for the money.

There is a toilet in the room which is really convenient. Elevator available. However the room i was at had sky light, which is rather annoying in the summer haha. the road from the train station to the hostel is safe in all... but during the night there were some drunk people who would attempt to talk to me. It is more of the city problem i guess. but the location is really great as it is central and walking distance to most attractions.

Great apart from the lift”
Great value hostel to stay for a night.... hated the lift though... took ages to arrive at the right floor which wasnt reassuring itd get me there! Didnt get stuck but would prefer it if there was an option to take the stairs! Overall great place to stay for a night out in bristol, great value, fab location, would stay again. Thanks

Great location”
Location is perfect. It's situated right in the middle of all the major attractions and you can easily walk to the north, east, south and west from there. I found out that if you walk in and get a room instead of booking ahead, it's actually much cheaper. However, that is a risk you'll have to take as this location is really worth your money. Better to just book ahead and pay slightly more but have a guaranteed bed waiting for you. There's only 2 shower/toilets per floor and there's many rooms per floor so you might have to wait really long for it. During my time, I did not have any problem with waiting for the washroom so maybe some of the rooms on the floor have their own attached baths? Staff is really helpful and friendly too. I only stayed for one night and it was good, really great price for the facilities. Perfect location. I would say that they should keep an eye on the toilets because they’re quiet old and smells a bit bad.

Location is excellent Good communal self catering kitchen Nice cafe Ensuite was toilet and sink. Shower was a wet room that was good size and didnt drain water well. ( This was reported Friendly, helpful staff Cons: Not enough twin rooms have to share dorm The noise was dreadful. Night staff didnt deal with hours of noise from a male dorm in early hours. Morning staff apologetic and advised would usually be dealt with!

Travelled with my child. Staff were exceptional. The lift was broken which posed an issue in my case, staff couldnt have been more friendly about it. Room was clean and ventilated. It felt safe which with a child is great. They put me beside the bathroom, i feel like someone checked the floors every hour to keep an eye. If the lift had been working it prob would have been exceptional all round. Luggage storage was in basement which was another flight of stairs with bags. Really my bug bear - no lift. Everything else, couldnt be better!

I'm sorry that you visited at a time when the lift was out of service - I know it's not helpful to you, but perhaps reassurance to other people to know that the lift was fixed as quickly as it could be and (touch wood!!) we've not had any further issues with it. Great location, right in the city centre - walkable distance to most attractions. Beautiful canal view right at the door step. There is a light and USB charging port next each bed (note: there is no wall plug next to bed, not ideal if you need to charge camera battery). Toilet and bathrooms are shared outside of the room.

Rooms are much smaller than in other YHA hostels, and cleanliness Is slightly less perfect. Bed lights and plugs in my room didn't work and nobody solved the problem, though I reported It to the reception.

Not bad but not satisfactory ”
Maybe after living YHA Brighton and having a too much high expectation to YHA Bristol, so it is a little disappointed experience for us. No lift can reach the top floor and the only lift hasn't work till we left.(Really hard to move our luggages) The common shower room was not very convenient: the shelf was not fixed and I couldn't feel the ventilator was working when taking shower; only two hooks behind the door were easy to make the cloths wet; and the shower nozzle was difficult to control it...There are 3 beds in my room: the single bed doesn't have bed light, and the double-deck bed has the bed lamp and sockets just like yha Brighton but all of them didn't work. So different experience from that in Brighton I have to say

I traveled solo to Bristol, and I found this hostel very convenient to stay. I like the surroundings. It's located exactly in the front of the canal and just next to a very cosy cafe called society cafe. City centre is just in a walking distance. The room is acceptable and clean, but I don't like the shower room though. It doesn't have any part to hang our clothes. They have a cozy cafe and restaurant as well as a communal kitchen with complete facilities.

YH is located centrally and it has friendly and helpful staff. One can explore Bristol and the areas nearby by making it a base. Self catering kitchen is quite spacious allowing budget travelers to cook their own meals.

Pros: - everything was really clean except for some stains in the bathroom which definitely didn't affect anything. - although wifi was only available in the common area, the connection throughout the building was good. - to get to city centre (Cabot Circus) it only took us around 15 minutes. - even if you don't go to the city centre, the long stretch of bars along the riverside right in front of the hostel is absolutely beautiful at night (good photo opportunities!) Cons: - some of the staff weren't really experienced and we got some complications when we tried to book breakfasts for the next morning. They mixed up my room number and made my friends and I waited for quite long. Also, they were inexperience with handling the receipt because they didn't know if we have paid. All in all it didn't matter much and I hope the management will improve with time. I recommend this hostel!!

Bed sheets never changed”
The location and the staff was beyond excellent. However, in my 8 days stay the bed sheets were never changed. This was disappointing. Yes it is a budget accommodation but even in the cheaper hostels in London and all around the world they tend to provide fresh bedding twice a week.

Close to the centre, ok for one night”
The hostel is located in a very nice area with many bars and restaurants. The staff is very friendly. But the beds are too narrow and soft for me. In the shower it's not possible to hang up some clothes or towels. The breakfast is not included but it's good.
