Fantastic experience”

Location / Comfort and size of room / Food

What an amazing hotel in a great location. I can't recommend this lovely place enough. Truly a little piece of paradise in a stunning country. The main part of Ngapali beach just a short walk away is great but the location of Yoma Cherry Lodge on a virtually secluded bay is perfect. I have had baths with bigger waves and with colder water than the water here and the sand is like talcum powder. The staff were always attentive and helpful, including helping us to rebook a cancelled flight on the day. The food is fresh and delicious with great seafood and fruit juices. Thank you Yoma Cherry - we will be back one day!

Great place with lovely staff”

Rooms were spacious and inviting, very clean and modern. The hotel is lockated on a small, less touristic beach very close to Ngapali beach. We enjoyed, that there were not quite as many people, and also locals. There is a terrace at the beach, where you can have breakfast and also watch the sunset - we didn't find a better spot at Ngapali beach. What we most liked about Yoma Cherry was the very nice, warm and friendly staff. They really made you feel very welcome and special and really took care of our needs. Would recommend this anytime!

Charming and Secluded”

The food, the service, and the cleanliness.

Cherry Yoma is a beautiful, though small, hotel, with only about a dozen rooms. It is situated in a smaller bay within Ngapali Bay, so it is more private and tubing, jet-skis, coconut vendors, and pony rides are not easily accessible. This could be good or bad depending on your preferences. I enjoyed the quiet and privacy. We share the beach with our other dozen hotel guests, as well as some local fishers and children. That's the only real downside--because they dry fish in the sun on the beach, there is a faint fishy smell--but you get used to that quickly. It's quite a sight to see them tossing silvery fish out to dry on netting on the beach. The hotel doesn't have a pool, though that would be pretty redundant for a beachside hotel. They have great food, excellent service, and affordable massages in their garden pavilion. The service here is really top-notch. The employees are friendly, attentive, and have great English. The place is immaculate as well. Every morning the sand in front of the hotel is raked. Their many fussy, intricate wooden carvings are hand polished. The gardeners are busy watering, clearing leaves, and rearranging stones. The room will be cleaned twice a day--once in the morning, and once at night for turn-down. The room was large and well-decorated. Air conditioning is only available after 6pm, but the room stayed cool even during this hot season. If you want more light or air circulation, the back doors open onto a deck. My only complaint is that the pillows could have been of better quality. The hotel is a short walk to the village of Lin Thar, with its art galleries, shops, restaurants, and other hotels. The hotel can also arrange for boat trips that will pick you up at the hotel. For the most part, though, we didn't feel the need to leave the hotel property at all.

Wonderful stay”

We had a fantastic stay at Yoma Cherry Lodge. Nice high ceilings and the room opens onto a terrace. Clean room and nice beach. They're no TV, no fridge and no amenities in bathrooms so bring your own. All the staff were lovely. Attentive, caring, polite and helpful. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and hope to return again one day.

Wonderful place to relax and get pampered”

Beautiful romantic and stylish hotel in the smaller calm bay in Ngapali. The beach is nice and it is possible to sunbath and swim both during the high and low tide (not all hotels on Ngapali can offer this). The restaurant is good, offerring mostly wester dishes and it is also wonderful place for the breakfast just by the sea. The beachfront rooms are fabulous even if they lack privacy during the day as the terrace is common and there are people walking around from time to time. The staff is just wanderful, so polite and helpful, and everybody speaks perfect english. The only small downside is the quality of internet stability which could be better. And yes, it is quite expensive place compared to other hotels of the similar level of quality around Myanmar.

A very special gem in Ngapali, perhaps the best "2 star hotel" in the world!”

Beautiful hotel, almost on a private beach section of Ngapali, except for the fascinating fishing village life left and right. Fantastic to watch the daily fishing boat departure with village menfolk, and processing of fish. The main building with restaurant and sitting room upstairs and garden are beautiful, like something from Architectural Digest. Fabulous staff. The rooms are very large and comfortable, quiet, excellent showers, AC, etc. You feel like you're in a 4-5* accommodation, except without all the 'stuff' you really don't need anyway: No TV showing 10-12 local channels & CNN, no toothbrush, cotton pads or nail-files. Just a great hotel on a beautiful beach. Unfortunately I have never seen a "2* hotel" like this anywhere else in the world! Management is totally engaged with the local community: Running local schools and supporting health care. This is THE ONLY village we saw during our 3 weeks in Myanmar that had trash mgmt. and was encouraging local population to keep their village clean. The school is right behind the hotel. My impression is that many hotel guests return regularly, also to engage and support the local village school. I think some hotel guests also spontaneously drop into the school to help with english classes. Highly recommended, remarkable hotel integrated with the community.

timing was off”

Nice place and nice people. The hotel is tranquil, separated from the main gantlet of tourist hotels inside a fishing village, and there are no TVs in the rooms, which I really liked. Given that it was getting into the height of the rainy season, the hotel is virtually shut down, and prices quite low. So the room was very nice and spacious for what I paid, the grounds lovely, but some other things not so good. Most of the buildings are encased in cross-hatched bamboo poles covered in opaque plastic. This keeps wind-driven rain out, but it doesn't let in either light or air, so many of the buildings smelled strongly of mildew and were extremely dark. At the restaurant, there was no fresh fish, and only 1/3 to 1/2 of the items on the menu were available. I was happy to walk the 15-20 minutes to the small group of restaurants at the head of the main Ngapali beach (Yoma Cherry is on a separate beach separated by a river, so you need to walk up to the main road and then down about 20 minutes before you can access the main beach with the majority of the Ngapali hotels and restaurants). However, during a number of meals it was raining torrentially, so the walk was much less inviting. A lot of these factors would not have been an issue in the high season, but it was hard to shake the feeling that they had only kept the hotel "half-open," thus offering a significantly less enjoyable experience. I don't doubt I would have been giving a stellar review had I visited at another time of year, but perhaps it would just make more sense to close the hotel down during the monsoon, as many other Ngapali hotels do.

A little oasis of calm located on quiet beach”

Staff, gardens & room

We had a large ground floor room with wonderful views of the gardens. The perfect way to unwind from days of travelling around Myanmar. YCL is set back from the main road so you are largely protected from noise interference but being Myanmar there is always something going on ! The staff were very helpful & their English was amongst the best we encountered on our travels in Myanmar which is not to be under estimated. The food at the hotel was pretty good too though I would recommend using the two local beach restaurants (we preferred Ngapali Palace ) to share the love. The beach at YCL is very very quiet there being only YCL and one other hotel (Hotel Ace) - if available we would return to YCL. They have rooms overlooking the beach but I would not advise booking these as there is no privacy and they are situated next to kitchen / restaurant.

Only the pefect words are deseved by this hotel. Charming, cosy, personal touch, amazing and professional stuff and management. The best you can imagine. The best beach, which is clean and very few people. Beautiful restaurant with excellent food, service and absolutely reasonable prices. The hotel is providing much more than its price and than you can expect from 3 stars. Would like to come back and definitely recommend to everyone visiting Ngapali. Book in advance. Only 15 rooms and the hotel is very demanded.

Fantastic Hotel in Ngapali”

Wonderful hotel and fantastic staff. Every member of staff is incredibly helpful and each works to create a great experience. The rooms are large and comfortable with AC. The hotel is set on a nice, secluded area of the beach. It is set between the airport and the main beach area of Ngapali. It is within walking distance of the larger, more public beach area and the restaurants.

One of the most favourite hotel not only in Ngapali, but also in Myanmar!”

Of course, you can find some better hotels in terms of facility, but the staff's sense of responsibilities of services and hospitalities is definitely the best here. Under the usual case, everywhere is OK. When any situations of out of staff manuals or any cases of trouble happen, you can fully understand the response of staff here is really precious and perfect. I've lived in Myanmar for longer than 1 year and a half, but it is totally hard for us to reach this kind of satisfaction, and here is the best place to stay in Myanmar, not only in Ngapali.

Lovely for a good break”

Ideally located: on the small beach at the north of Ngapali with not too much tourists. Splendid garden, very peaceful. Lovely view on the sea with fishermen’s boats from the restaurant! View on the sunset Breakfast very ok. Free transfer from the airport. I advice not to stay in the front beach rooms are maybe a bit noisy (sea noise + restaurant noise + boat noise in the early morning).

Best stay ”

One of the best choices that we made... On arrivals in airport, a smiling face was waiting for us.... they pick up us on a beautiful old style truck.. just an amazing ride! we start to book one night and when we arrive we extend one more night because of the beautiful, clean and big room in an amazing location! The staff are amazing friendly and helpful and they try to give you the best attention and comfort as possible. We make check out to went to another hotel with more stars nearby (we have the booking made before stay here) and we immediately miss this one... so we decided to loose one nigh already booked in another hotel to make another booking and return to this paradise! A wonderful beach with white sand. They care about you as family... if you look a quiet place in paradise... this is the place. Always fresh fish in the hotel restaurant and local restaurants... and even the staff from local restaurant are amazing helpful. You get more than what you paid... more than the fair price! We will come back and we definitely recommended this hotel!!

Sweet, homely, unpretentious and relaxing”

We fell in love with this place and the people at the hotel within 2 minutes of arrival. To be honest it's hard to thing of anything that we did not like about it. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and were keeen to talk to us about the hotel and area. The setting was outstanding with the beach right on our doorstep and while we went in the middle of the wet season and it rain everyday not once were we disappointed about the stay, my wife and I felt completely relaxed. It's hard to sound like independent reviewers and not members of the hotel but we are honestly nothing to do with the hotel. We just loved the place and the staff: better than most of the 5 stars hotels I have stayed in. If you go I highly recommend visiting the school next to the hotel where it's a project to teach the young people English and their are eager to practice their English.

Perfect end to our trip”

Friendly staff, Boutique style, Relaxed setting

We stayed for 5 nights at this small, attractive hotel with wonderful grounds. The staff are all incredibly friendly and helpful, but not unbearably so. The hotel sits almost alone on a beautiful stretch of working beach. There is a flurry of activity on the beach between 1600 and 1700 when the fishing boats go out and a little noise around dawn when they return, but to us it all added to the charm of the place. Apart from that it is very quiet, perfect for relaxing There are a couple of beach shacks close by for food or drink as well as the lovely deck of the hotel itself. The main, busier, beach is a 20 min walk away. For us it was just the perfect place to finish our Myanmar adventure

Very relaxing. Great location.”

Only stayed 3 nights, would have stayed longer but they were fully booked. It was a very pleasant stay, great staff, large well cleaned rooms, nice gardens. But the beach, for us, outshone everything. It's slightly north of Ngapli main beach, and so much quieter and less touristy. Some commenters don't like the fishing boats outside. But it really isn't a problem. Walk 30 meters down the beach and it's all clear. I enjoyed watching the fishermen come and go. The beachside Seagull restaurant is delightful. And in the main street try Mr June's restaurant. My wife had massage in the hotel and gave it a good rating. We were collected from airport with no problems. Enjoyable stay and we will return! I hope the beach area doesn't change too much!
