Sweet, homely, unpretentious and relaxing”
We fell in love with this place and the people at the hotel within 2 minutes of arrival. To be honest it's hard to thing of anything that we did not like about it. The staff were all so friendly and helpful and were keeen to talk to us about the hotel and area. The setting was outstanding with the beach right on our doorstep and while we went in the middle of the wet season and it rain everyday not once were we disappointed about the stay, my wife and I felt completely relaxed. It's hard to sound like independent reviewers and not members of the hotel but we are honestly nothing to do with the hotel. We just loved the place and the staff: better than most of the 5 stars hotels I have stayed in. If you go I highly recommend visiting the school next to the hotel where it's a project to teach the young people English and their are eager to practice their English.
Lovely for a good break”
Ideally located: on the small beach at the north of Ngapali with not too much tourists. Splendid garden, very peaceful. Lovely view on the sea with fishermen’s boats from the restaurant! View on the sunset Breakfast very ok. Free transfer from the airport. I advice not to stay in the front beach rooms are maybe a bit noisy (sea noise + restaurant noise + boat noise in the early morning).
No pool but next to beach, beautiful resort, would benefit with a pool as ground are so nice. Would have been nice to have a fridge in the room, though room service was very attentive. No TV in room if people like this. Not on main beach so not main restaurants near hotel. Rooms set back next to small road so noise of motorbikes early morning. Over all very nice with amazing staff good value for money paid.
A little oasis of calm located on quiet beach”
We had a large ground floor room with wonderful views of the gardens. The perfect way to unwind from days of travelling around Myanmar. YCL is set back from the main road so you are largely protected from noise interference but being Myanmar there is always something going on ! The staff were very helpful & their English was amongst the best we encountered on our travels in Myanmar which is not to be under estimated. The food at the hotel was pretty good too though I would recommend using the two local beach restaurants (we preferred Ngapali Palace ) to share the love. The beach at YCL is very very quiet there being only YCL and one other hotel (Hotel Ace) - if available we would return to YCL. They have rooms overlooking the beach but I would not advise booking these as there is no privacy and they are situated next to kitchen / restaurant.
smiling staffs. beautiful garden. manager sue. I also stayed in bayview resort. Compare with this, room condition (terrable mattress except) and facility are bayview is better. But yoma cherry lodge greets guests with comport smile.
Fantastic gem on Ngapali Beach”
We stayed here for 5 nights, and didn’t want to leave. The staff made us feel very welcome and feel like at home. The room was spacious and with beautiful design. The beach is right there with private sun umbrellas for all guests. The beach stretch is beautiful, the small bay is absolutely amazing. The breakfast was delicious and I must say we ate most of our other meals also at the hotel as we really liked the cooking and the service. I’d love to return one day!
12 points out of 10”
Only the pefect words are deseved by this hotel. Charming, cosy, personal touch, amazing and professional stuff and management. The best you can imagine. The best beach, which is clean and very few people. Beautiful restaurant with excellent food, service and absolutely reasonable prices. The hotel is providing much more than its price and than you can expect from 3 stars. Would like to come back and definitely recommend to everyone visiting Ngapali. Book in advance. Only 15 rooms and the hotel is very demanded.
Wonderful place to relax and get pampered”
Beautiful romantic and stylish hotel in the smaller calm bay in Ngapali. The beach is nice and it is possible to sunbath and swim both during the high and low tide (not all hotels on Ngapali can offer this). The restaurant is good, offerring mostly wester dishes and it is also wonderful place for the breakfast just by the sea. The beachfront rooms are fabulous even if they lack privacy during the day as the terrace is common and there are people walking around from time to time. The staff is just wanderful, so polite and helpful, and everybody speaks perfect english. The only small downside is the quality of internet stability which could be better. And yes, it is quite expensive place compared to other hotels of the similar level of quality around Myanmar.
Wanted to love this place but...”
The grounds are BEAUTIFUL, excellent rooms, good number of lounge chairs and umbrellas on a perfect, private beach. Overall we had a good experience, however there were a couple major detractors: biggest was getting woken up one morning at 6:30am by the smell of smoke and blasting music. The smell was heaps being burned across the street that seeped into the room. I called the front desk to ask about the noise and smell and was told there was a wedding reception going on at a venue near by and that they would check about the smell and call me back. No one called me back and the blasting of Burmese covers of R&B hits (and others) went on ALL morning and into the day. Had to go to the beach to get away from the noise. Don’t know if it would help but maybe avoid Sundays to be on the safe side. Also the Burmese food options were a bit bland compared to other eateries. I highly encourage them to cook authentic food, don’t worry about adapting to the foreigners, we want the real stuff!
Wonderful hotel on a fantastic spot”
The food, hote surrounding and rooms was excellent and the ocean direct infront with a beautiful beach in a quiet beautiful small bay surrounded by palm trees. The staff are awesome friendly and helpful as always in Myanmar. You should go there!
Don't be scared by the silly entry and narrow pebble road to the hotel. You will feel that I'm home right the moment when you jump into it. All the hotel waiter/waitress are enthusiastic about helping anything. I can't find any place so far can provide a better services than here. Just book it and enjoy the services and private beach.
A great location”
We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was the down time at the end of our trip. The beach was really nice and the staff were very helpful, they could not do enough for you. Have your lunch at the hut on the main road opposite the entrance to the hotel, it is very good and the lady cooks amazing homemade food.
Great place with lovely staff”
Rooms were spacious and inviting, very clean and modern. The hotel is lockated on a small, less touristic beach very close to Ngapali beach. We enjoyed, that there were not quite as many people, and also locals. There is a terrace at the beach, where you can have breakfast and also watch the sunset - we didn't find a better spot at Ngapali beach. What we most liked about Yoma Cherry was the very nice, warm and friendly staff. They really made you feel very welcome and special and really took care of our needs. Would recommend this anytime!
We had a fantastic stay at Yoma Cherry Lodge. Nice high ceilings and the room opens onto a terrace. Clean room and nice beach. They're no TV, no fridge and no amenities in bathrooms so bring your own. All the staff were lovely. Attentive, caring, polite and helpful. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend and hope to return again one day.
Great stay far away from the maddening crowd”
We've visited during the low season, so some of the facilities were wrapped in a cellophane to protect them from the rain and not many visitors were around so we were almost the only foreigners in the on the beach. Most of the hotel staff speaks brilliant English with a lovely British accent. The rooms are spotless. The staff are very helpful (they've brought a mosquito net and were supplying hot drinking water for the tea every time we've asked). The hotel is close to the school, yet as a light sleeper it totally didn't bother me. The beach is secluded and lovely and you can see the local boys playing football. The breakfast was OK and the evening cocktails were great :) Few things _might_ appear a bit below the expectation but it's important to see the proportion when cycling the local fishermen villages nearby. This location is great and the sunsets are stunning :)
Picture perfect beach front resort”
Absolutely stunning place to stay made exceptional by the incredibly friendly and helpful staff. The grounds are well kept and beautiful. Everything is clean and tidy, keeping an authentic character. They helped us extend our stay, book taxis and advise on things to do. Our favourite place in our 4 weeks in Myanmar. Worth every penny.
Boutique hotel with charm”
Well-managed by Sue, friendly helpful staff who speak English, very clean facilities, artistically furnished, lovely grounds, great spa services. Food and cocktails fantastic. Staff share in profits and many are graduates of the nearby non-profit school that Sue runs, teaching English and other subjects to over 500 students from the village and surrounding communities (volunteers welcome!). Very lovely beach, located in a community fishing village. Highly recommend. Thanks to Sue and all of your wonderful staff, we will be back!
A very special gem in Ngapali, perhaps the best "2 star hotel" in the world!”
Beautiful hotel, almost on a private beach section of Ngapali, except for the fascinating fishing village life left and right. Fantastic to watch the daily fishing boat departure with village menfolk, and processing of fish. The main building with restaurant and sitting room upstairs and garden are beautiful, like something from Architectural Digest. Fabulous staff. The rooms are very large and comfortable, quiet, excellent showers, AC, etc. You feel like you're in a 4-5* accommodation, except without all the 'stuff' you really don't need anyway: No TV showing 10-12 local channels & CNN, no toothbrush, cotton pads or nail-files. Just a great hotel on a beautiful beach. Unfortunately I have never seen a "2* hotel" like this anywhere else in the world! Management is totally engaged with the local community: Running local schools and supporting health care. This is THE ONLY village we saw during our 3 weeks in Myanmar that had trash mgmt. and was encouraging local population to keep their village clean. The school is right behind the hotel. My impression is that many hotel guests return regularly, also to engage and support the local village school. I think some hotel guests also spontaneously drop into the school to help with english classes. Highly recommended, remarkable hotel integrated with the community.
Bit Pricey but Perfect”
There's a lovely atmosphere at Yona Cherry. Decor is very tasteful and staff are friendly and considerate. Lovely beach views from the Restaurant actually on the beach in the season. TV would be nice but there's good WiFi and good to escape from the world for a while!
Fantastic Hotel in Ngapali”
Wonderful hotel and fantastic staff. Every member of staff is incredibly helpful and each works to create a great experience. The rooms are large and comfortable with AC. The hotel is set on a nice, secluded area of the beach. It is set between the airport and the main beach area of Ngapali. It is within walking distance of the larger, more public beach area and the restaurants.
