69yo Female solo traveler found close to Information Centre, central location to dining areas & shop”

Very clean, well kept old Historic Building; upstairs outdoor alfresco dining area balcony with umbrellas where you can sit for hours in the warm sun. Swimming pool on site. Friendly attentive staff at the York with a homely feel with good amenities. Hannan Street Bakery opposite the hotel where you can buy a good old Aussie pie with sauce. Nice restaurant on site too. Close to a choice of restaurants Coffee shops; Pharmacies, Coles; Woolworths; Kmart and Target all within easy walking distance of the hotel. Definitely would go back to the York when in Kalgoorlie. On the downside there are no en-suites in the rooms, however I’m no spring chicken and didn’t find walking down the corridor to the bathroom a problem.

      Comfortable and conveintly located”

The facade of the York Hotel , the restoration of the internal character and amazing staircase to the accommodation, central location.

The York Hotel has a 'grand' feeling maintaining the tradional accomodation and ablution module as featured in hotels built back in the early 1900. Dining room with its high ceilings provided a charming environment in which to eat, and the very social bar area. The charm of the hotel, accommodation and its central location of enhanced the experience of our visit to Kalgoorlie and surrounding places of interest.

      Grand Old Girl”

The York Hotel abounds with classic beauty ( the staircase is a beautiful piece of work ). The hotel is well situated in the main street of Kalgoorlie, allowing easy access to explore the rest of the city. The staff were delightful and provided assistance if required.

      Lovely hotel in great location”

very convenient location on Kalgoorlie's main road and only 5 minutes from the train station, great heritage building in good condition

i had a great time at the york hotel in kalgoorlie. the staff was very friendly and helpful. the bar downstairs was very handy for a drink, dinner and chat in the evening yet not too loud in the rooms. the rooms are good sized with access to the balcony. also great was the free wifi-internet access. the only downside was that breakfast was only served until 8:30am.

      Great value, lovely stay”

The hotel is a beautifully well preserved and maintained hotel in the old Kalgoorlie classic Goldfields style. The location is wonderfully convenient. Love the high pressed tin ceilings, the beautiful staircase, the traditional carpets. The rooms are well-equipped with TV & fridge. The beds are comfortable with excellent firm pillows. The rooms do not have en-suites, but the shred bathrooms are immaculately clean and well supplied. Breakfast in the restaurant comes with the room & is nicely varied. The memorabilia in the restaurant is fascinating. The staff are all very welcoming, friendly and professional. All up, a very enjoyable short stay & great value for money.

      Living the Good Old Days!”

A lovely trip down memory lane. The hotel has been fully renovated and painted and is a credit to the owners ... it has been restored to her former beauty and character. Just loved the upstairs balcony looking out over the Main Street of Kalgoorlie and basking in the sunshine. Meals were not fancy and could have been a bit better. Bedroom and bed were cosy and nice pillows! We appreciated the fact that they supplied tea-making facilities too. Very quiet at night, which was important to us as well. The owners have a gorgeous dog who lives inside; well behaved and very friendly. We loved him; name is Meatball!!! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

      Great historic town-centre hotel”

      1) ambience, 2) restaurant, 3) position.

The York Hotel is highly recommended. It is a historic building which has been beautifully decorated & is in very good condition. Although rooms are not ensuite, the bathrooms are big, spotlessly clean and quite stylish! The room had very high ceilings and was well-decorated, as was the whole building. The restaurant was very good, and we had a satisfying meal. The waiting staff were attentive and friendly. The only criticism, a very minor one, is that there was no bedside table.

      fantastic”

high ceiling , staircase, loved the room that lead out to the balcony.

relaxing and comfortable. We found the York Hotel to be a lovely part of history from the gold rush days. There is a shared bathroom, that is very clean. The dining room has lots of character. It was fantastic to be able to walk straight out on the balcony from our room. I thought the live band on Fri night would keep us awake, but it didn't. We would recommend it to our friends and go back there again in the future.

Staff are wonderful, as is the venue. The rooms are old, but truly beautiful, and the gorgeous little touches left by the staff make all the difference. I particularly love the privacy you get at The York. I've spent weeks staying at various budget accommodations, and privacy has been a big issue for me. The meals are also great value. Big in serving, and delicious in taste. The York may be budget accommodation, but you're certainly not made to feel that way, with staff being ever so caring and giving 5 star service.

      Iconic building”

Ok this is an old historic building and that doesn't work with having en suite facilities and you have to wander down the corridor for them. However what the York Hotel does have is amazing architecture, owners who have brought it back to its former glory, beautiful staircase and caring staff!!! Loved the balcony for a cold pint of Fat Yak!!!

Central location on the main street. Basic breakfast included. Clean and simple rooms

For an overnight stay in a Pub/hotel this was more than adequate for a single business traveller. The York hotel is quite a historic building in this region, more than 100 years old and has a very elegant charm to it. The rooms are well maintained and provide all you need for a short stay. To have a basic breakfast included for the price was great value for money. I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed only two nights. We were looking to experience a piece of history and this hotel was just what we wanted. Things like the bathroom at the end of corridor did not surprise us and was ok for a short stay. However the place was clean thorough and the bed comfortable. Even the hotel’s resident dog, Meatball, was a kind cute. Location is excellent to explore Kalgoorlie.

Well restored old hotel, well equipped room”

clean, friendly, close to everything, quiet, nice decor

stayed 1 night (thurs) in hotel - had room upstairs, over bar, opening up to balcony. i was worried it would be loud, but it was totally fine. around 9 pm, everything was quiet upstairs. the room opened up onto a large balcony overlooking the street - really cute. it was equipped with a tv (only a few local channels, but there were videos downstairs you could use), a fridge, a chair, bedside table/lamp and single bed. i appreciated that the bed had a nice feather down doona on it - it didn't look like those cheap hotel bedspreads, and was comfortable. they had an electric kettle, a caraffe of water and instant coffee, tea, milk & sugar for the morning. the bathroom was at the other end of the hall, and floor squeeked quite a bit walking down that way, so i was worried it was loud for the people down that way, but the bathrooms were clean and well-equipped as well. overall i was really pleased with staying there, and thought it was great, with a great price, too! brekkie was included - basic fare of cereal, toast, juice, tea, coffee, etc.
