Everything ok ”
10-13mins walk from the Yudanaka stn. The hotel room is clean and good view Nice breakfast and Dinner The hotel do not provide transportation to snow monkey park Have 2 onsen, one with the nice view and another one onsen still ok.. Overall ok..
Staff was very friendly and helpful. It was a great experience to be able to stay at this facility.
Great experience ”
Definitely value for money and food are nice. Will come back again
Went there during winter and it would be good if that is shuttle bus service from yudanaka station to the ryokan as we had a hard time pushing our luggage through the snow to the ryokan. It would be much more easy if travellers go there during summer when there is no snow. However, during check out there is shuttle bus service back to the station which was good! Also, it would be good if they could open the outdoor onsen in the morning (morning they are closed for cleaning) as we are only there for one night and during winter time the hours of daylight is short. Hence, we couldn’t enjoy the beauty of the outdoor onsen during our stay as it was dark outside.
Excellent full facilities Ryokan ”
We stayed 3 nights here, be prepared to be pampered from the great onsen bath to great dinner !
Must Stay Ryokan If You are in Yudanaka Onsen Town ”
This is a must stay Ryokan if you are visiting Yudanaka Onsen Town the bath and food are really good
Great Onsen ”
What else can one ask for, this Ryokan has everything. The dinner is really good and the outdoor onsen bath is memorable
Excellent Ryokan Onsen ”
This Ryokan is just 8 mins walk from Yudanaka Train station Full facilties onsen The dinner is fantastic, Easily 1 Michelin star standard We stayed for 3 nights here
wonderful onsen located in an traditional onsen village. Staffs are very friendly and helpful. Onsen was nice, but after 10pm, lights were dimmed everywhere. You really have to be careful walking around, especially going to the outdoor onsen. Dinner was served in the big dining hall where they divided into different smaller room so you feel very cosy and have your privacy while dining. Food itself was OK, expected a bit more. Hotel provided free shuttle to the monkey park and return they dropped you off at the train station with your luggages which i think was very wonderful and gone an extra mile. big thumbs up.
This is the best ryokan I have stayed!”
The hotel staff is helpful and friendly they offered us pick up service. This is a big and traditional ryokan. It is very artistic and beautiful. We have spent a lot of time to discover this gorgeous place. And the onsen have 200 years history - absolutely beautiful. You can’t miss it! The meals are also very good and the service impeccable. We felt really warm and comfortable here.
Beautiful view from our hotel with a nice and big outdoor Onsen. ”
Beautiful view from our hotel room. They also have a nice and big outdoor Onsen. They serve meals with every single dish beautifully listed out. Nice and polite service staff and speak very good English.
Japanese experience ”
Beautiful hotel with traditional Japanese bathing including two natural outdoor onsen- very interesting experience for a westerner.
Cute, Traditional Ryokan and an excellent jumping-off point”
Very interesting experience staying at this Ryokan in a traditional Japanese room. The staff are exceptionally patient and though most do not speak english, you can make your way through most interactions with mime-ing and/or context clues. There is a good in-room guide to the rules/expectations around the experience, including dining and the onsen. Our meals were taken in a private table in the banquet hall rather than in our room, and the kaiseki-style meals were beautifully presented and elaborate affairs. Some items aren't too suited to western tastes, particularly those with a chewy/gelatinous texture - and be aware no options are given. The onsen is fantastic, and nobody was the least bit concerned about our tattoos, including a half-sleeve. The larger of the two outdoor sides is particularly wonderful in the winter in the snow. Great location for jumping-off to the Snow Monkey Park and Shiga Kogen ski area, but be aware the breakfast times are not great to make the early bus.
The legends are true. Whether you opt for the pricier ryokan option or the more affordable annex building across the street (connected via tunnel) this onsen is truely a gem from breakfast to bath to dinner to bath. Especially nice after a day of skiing, the onsen's fare was superb but limited to a three day rotation at the time of this reviews writing. Whichever rooms you book all have access to the two baths which alternate between women or men twice, daily. Service staff more than live up to Japan's well earned hospitality reputation and they are more then well equipped to deal with any minor ski related injuries.
Everything was perfect.
Zomg my wallet is empty but my heart is full”
Umm yeah, this motel will take a hefty bite into your wallet, but if you wanna splurge, this is a great location to do it. Onsen are amazing, dinners/brekkie awesome, service great - not all staff speak english, but they will call over the staff who do to assist. Snowed heavily, and they organized a minibus to take the guests to train station. Location is a few minutes walk up from the station, and much further from the coin laundry down on the river. But it is on a good street, with cafe, Post Office, pharmacy. For those cash-strapped, you can pay to use the onsen without staying at the motel, so I am told. But honestly, my highlight of my entire 1st Japan trip was in the big outside bath at 5.30am in the dark, sitting in steaming water, as fresh snowfall fell onto my face from the low-hanging branches. Spend the moneys, all of them!
The Ryokan to go for.”
Fantastic ryokan with long history. The hot spring have two sides, will change at certain timing, remember to go for both. Food provided is awesome and service provided is top notch. Relatively near to snow monkey park.
An experience not to be missed”
If you're keen to experience a aRyikan and an Onsen, this is a great place to try. You'll find everyone super friendly and helpful. There are explanations in English regarding what to do, wear and the etiquette. The food. is fabulous, but you'll need a good appetite, there are many many dishes. If you're visiting the Snow Monkeys. The courtesy bus is great to get you there but you will rush it to get back in 2 hours from the drop off, but get the A bus back it's easy. GREAT PLACE - FABULOUS PEOPLE!!!
Great for rest and relaxation ”
Beautiful hotel in a quaint town. Perfect for relaxing and unwinding. Great half board provided. Enjoyed our stay!
High end ryokan”
If you're looking for a cheap ryokan, this is not the place for you. If you're looking for in room wifi with pay per view, this is not the place for you. This is a top of the line ryokan with excellent staff and traditional facilities, the meals offered are thoughtful and extremely delicate. Monkey park is a must visit location, the ryokan provides transportation.
