10/10 Excellent Personalised Service”
Outstanding customer service and level of cleanliness. They went out of their way to make sure we were taken care of. We gave them a call an hour in advance to get picked up from Yudanaka station and they also drove us to the monkey park and back to the station giving us time to enjoy the immaculate onsens (the public onsens were empty whilst I was there) and an excellent massage by an elderly blind couple. The couple were very sweet and arrived on time, we kindly ask the hotel to notify future customers that they will need to pay in cash to the couple as we weren’t sure if we pay the couple on the spot or pay the hotel at the end of our stay, either way the massage was excellent and I hope the elderly couple are fairly paid for their efforts. When we arrived at our room, the hotel had a cute tea arrangement and set up futons in the bedroom when we went out for dinner. After reading alot reviews, I believe that the hotel truly values constructive feedback and have made efforts to improve accordingly, for eg. Hiring staff who spoke English. Overall we really enjoyed the experience, and wouldn't hesitate to book them again in the future. Through our entire Japan trip this was the most memorable as the hotel made us feel like a VIP.

Snow monkey experience”
We came for the snow monkey tour and took train from Nagano to 汤田中. No taxi when we arrived at 7pm so we called hotel. The hotel owner (a very nice lady) picked us up. We also booked dinner and breakfast in the hotel - both Japanese traditional style with dozens of delicate small plates. I tried severL things that I had never tried before. The onsen was a bit old and scary as we went at midnight. Bedding was comfy and clean. They offered a free one-way ride to the Snow Monkey Park and sent out luggage to the train station directly. Overall it was a good experience.

Great respite”
My husband and I were excited to spend three days in an onsen town lazing about and taking a lot of baths. He ended up getting sick during the first leg of the trip and was sick the entire time were were in Nagano. First of all, the ryokan was really easy to get to. Apparently, if you call them from Yudanaka station, they will come get you. We didn't know so we took a cab. Easy. Lovely room. We didn't have a river view but had the city view which ended up great since every morning we watched monkeys scamper across the retaining wall and across rooftops. The ofuros were really clean--it looks like this ryokan had some renovations done recently. Everything was really clean and a lot of it looked failry new. Loved the heated toilet in our room as well. As hubby was sick (mostly dehydration), we stayed in a lot. The nankai sans were really sweet and accomodating--offering onigiri and things were they discovered hubs wasn't able to eat breakfast at all. So there's not much to do in Andai/Shibu itself during the day. Most businesses are closed until the tourists come in the afternoon. It was pretty cool to walk around the deserted town and take pictures. So, this ryokan is located in Andai. This is only of importance if you plan to do the Shibu Onsen soto-yu because you won't get a key to Shibu onsen's soto-yu. You will get a key to Andai's soto-yu. Agoda doesn't make a distinction between Andai and Shibu (really, there isn't one, unless doing the 9 Shibu soto yu is on your agenda). You can still get the towel and stamp it but won't be able to take a bath in them. That was the only bummer for me personally. That said, I loved both the inside and outside baths at Masuya. The food was excellent, with locally sourced dishes. The staff was really wonderful and attentive. It felt like we were the only ones there even when they had full occupancy.

Fabulous service”
My stay at Wafu No Yada Masuya Ryokan was nothing short of a perfect trip. The staff service was outstanding. They went out of their ways to make sure every of our needs were fulfilled. The food was very delicious. The room we stayed in was very comfortable with a private onsen wooden tub. With a 170 years history, they did an excellent job of keeping the place very well maintained and up to date. We had a very relaxing trip and can't wait to make a trip back there again soon!

Amazing experience ”
This stay was so worth it. We went in January so we experienced the small snowy town and the ryokan offers shuttle to the snow monkey entrance. All the staff were wonderful and treated us like family. A traditional Japanese style breakfast was included. We reserved the private onsen and it was perfect relaxation and so nice in the cold weather. Definitely a must go place if you are in Nagano!

Great relaxing hot spring ryokan hotel ”
If you want to escape from hectic life in Toyko, this could be the good choice to stay in this traditional ryokan. The place: very easy and accessible to Yamanouchi train station and snow monkey. The hotel surrounded by restuarants, shop and old Japanese shrines as well as Great view of mountain and river at the front of the hotel so you can wander around the area and learn the local lifestyle. Service: Even we sometimes felt like losing in translation but staffs here tried so hard to understand us talking in English. It was very impressive that we had been greeted by the owner of the hotel and once we were allowed to enter the room, surprisingly our names were at the entrance. We had been treated well with traditional cups of green tea and japanese desserts in our new suites; Japanese robe. Moreover, we also enjoy both inside and outside hot spring at this hotel.

Very good”
Abit far from Yudanaka train station. However, their back door leads directly to the old onsen st. Room temperature & humidity was just nice. Onsen temperature in the outdoor onsen areas in winter was perfect for soothing post-ski aches! No full-day access to the in-house onsens. A full body massage chair in the onsens would be good. Hotel's response through agoda.com's messaging system was very slow. Had no reply about arrangements for our free pickup up until an hour before we arrived at the train station.

perfection”
We had a room with our own private onsen. This place was beyond amazing that we extended our stay for another night. The staff went out of their way to look after us, the room was impeccable, the onsen was amazing, the food was delicious, the entire experience was simply perfect. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and we already know that we want to return to this property during our next trip to Japan.

Great staff great stay!”
Friendly staff with an amazing breakfast! Dinner probably good too but we didn’t stay for dinner. Hotel provides a free car ride to the start of the snow monkey mountain hike. The staff really took care of us, and is one reason for why I would stay again. Onsen is good, however, male onsen switches over with female onsen at night, which is something I was cautious with, as I do not want to walk into the female onsen by mistake.

Family love”
I was frazzled as I came in from Tokyo and I dont know Japanese. The staff greeted me gently and helped me carefully plan my trip. They were so kind and lovely. As soon as I entered my room they made me tea. They really made me calm down and feel welcomed. I look forward to returning in the future.
