We have a family room with tatami room size was very big. Staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel located not far from restaurants which u can walk. Free hotel parking and onsen are available. Nice view of the mountains behind the hotel👍🏻

Very good hotel ”
We stayed at Shuhokan for 2 nights while in Yufuin. We would definitely stay here again! The staff was very helpful with english speaking. The rooms were quite large and comfortable with a small refrigerator, furo style tub, and wi-fi in the room. Breakfast cost was additional and although a little expensive it was well worth it. It is difficult to find breakfast on the streets or in town. The hotel is located a little away from the "main" street. It took 5 minutes by taxi from Yufuin Station and about a 10 minute easy walk. The hotel is surrounded by rice fields with excellent view of Mt. Yufu. There are foot baths just outside the front door of the hotel, and the hotel has bicycles for rent with very scenic almost no traffic bicycle paths along the river. The hotel staff were most happy and helpful with anything we could ask of them. Very friendly and accommodating. They provided a free shuttle ride to the train station. This was a very pleasant hotel even if it was more of a "modern" style building of glass and brick. It was very comfortable in all ways, spacious and a great place to stay. It does not feel closed in or crowded like in the center of town.

Lovely Japanese service”
Yufuin is famous for its onsen. Shuhokan has two sets of hot spring pools on the top floor with mountain view. Each set consists of indoor and outdoor pools. One set for men and one set for women. The change room and shower areas are very clean and comfortable. It is an ideal hotel if this is your first experience with onsen. Staff are very friendly and pay you full attention. Breakfast is Japanese and generous. We had dinner in the hotel. We ate locally produced fillet steak served in Japanese way accompanied by all the delicious small dishes of goodies. A free pick up/drop off at Yufuin Station Is available if pre-arranged. Will stay there again.

Nice hotel”
Overall it's a nice hotel in Yufuin. It provides big room, good Japanese restaurant and public Onsen. It takes about 10 mins walking to the JR and bus station or the town center. Good location to me since it's away from the tourist area but all the highlights are still in walking distance. We book a Japanese-style room with the view of Yufuin MT. Very big room even with a balcony area in which we can overview the farmland around the hotel and Yufuin MT. The Japanese dinner is rich and delicious. Breakfast is also good and restaraunt service is a plus. The hotel service except the restaurant is soso in terms of Japanese hospitality and serving standard. I've been traveling in Japan many times and it's in acceptable level but not good as usual. Even in this trip for Kyushu, we got better service in other hotels or ryokans. Not a big deal but it needs some improvement in my view.

Wonderful hotel”
Hotel Shuhokan is a great place to spend two or three days. It is expensive but worth it if you can afford the price. The kaiseki dinner was magnificent, the dinner in the Western restaurant fine. The staff is very attentive and helpful. The onsen is very nice. Yufuin is a charming town. Although it seems like the hotel is far away, it is actually a short walk into town. We would look forward to a return visit.

This was a highlight of our trip to Japan. The hotel is beautiful and understated. The food, incredible. The location very convenient to the town - just a short walking distance. The highlight is really the hot springs. Yufuin Hotel Shuhokan is a gem.

The room is very big at very cheap price. View of mountain on window. Futon bed is very comfy and onsen is big with 2 different type of water, clear and white on the outdoor overlooking the mountain and green field. Room with tatami has entrance area, bathroom area seperated from bedroom. Service is what we impress most. The hotel has a big van to pick us up. We are a big group with children and 3 strollers. Just call the hotel and the van show up within 5 minutes. They also drive us back to town so we can walk to Kinrin lake and pick us up again in the evening. We deposite our bags and ask the hotel to bring us the bag to the car rental company and take us to Yufuin station after we checked out.

It’s a pity not to try. highly recommend!! it is only 10 minutes walk from the main road.(JR station and bus stop).It’s not hard to find. there is a supermarket and lawson nearby.. A distance from the Yufuin bus station if you walk. Location is convenient and good if you self-drive, very peaceful and quiet here. Many parking spaces are available at hotel premises. Breakfast and dinner were awesome at the hotel. Onsen at hotel premises was good and clean. Hotel staff were very helpful and polite upon arrival. They helped you to move your luggage to your room. The Twin Room was very spacious. When you depart, the hotel staff accompanied you all the way till you depart safely from their premises. Overall a good experience stay with no complaints.

There’s a supermarket on the way to hotel, quite convenient. Actually hotel isn’t far from the train station, but there are still some distance by walking. Staffs in hotel are some kind and polite, they’ll help to carry the luggages to your room! Facilities there are also perfect, so I’ll totally recommended this hotel while staying in Yufuin :)

I love the hot spring pool in Shuhokan - both in & out door. take a good sleep and get the amazing breakfast. and the room is nice, the staff is helpful and additional have so many cosmatic sample for female. Ha! Just the location is not very close to train station (need 10-15 mins) walk. but still a good option for anyone!

Although the location of hotel is not very convenient, but Hotel arranged a shuttle bus to pick up us at Yufuin bus terminal before check in. The dinner and breakfast tasted very good, the service of hotel staff are very nice. I enjoy the hot spring so much. Nice experience in this hotel.

Nice location and beautiful View”
With some walking distance from Yufuin railway station, we still enjoy the view and atmosphere during walking to hotel. The hotel staff can speak English very little but good hospitality and patience. Check-in time is 3pm and check-out time is 10am. There is a lovely outdoor foot spa on the ground floor. Twin-room western style is standard with small window and we got a bad smell when we open the window. Arter we complained to the hotel, they upgrade and moved us to 3rd floor Japanese style room with much better location and view. We enjoyed our stay and on-sen was open until 1am. The outdoor bath on the top floor is great. We can enjoy beautiful Yufuin mountain view while staying in hot water. It take about 10-15 minutes to walk to the lovely Yufuin walking street. We can rent a bicycle from hotel also.
