Property right in front of Yumoto station. Nice clean rooms and furo! The down side was a that the restaurants were a little limited in menu selection being mostly course meals. If not included with the room can be expensive. Best to book half board unless planning to eat out.

Yumoto Fujiya Review ”
Location: near to the station and easily accessible, luggage friendly as there is a lift access to the hotel after u pass the bridge. Near the street selling goodies and restaurants- note that the stores closed early at around 5pm. Breakfast included for my stay, there is a few options. I went for a Japanese style breakfast, which is a good experience. (Ps i am thankful to the hotel staff whom go extra mile to make that happen as it is very popular, so make sure u check in early and book the breakfast early), there is a few restaurants available Onsen - hotspring facilities available free for use, enjoyable. U can check whether is it crowded using their hotel website.

Excellent location and adequate facilities”
I went to Hakone with my mum and we tried the private onsen in the hotel. Amenities are provided by the hotel to guest to enjoy the onsen. This hotel is just behind the train station Hakone Yumoto and is next to the bus stop for travelling to various places at Hakone. But I would recommend to include dinner when you book the hotel as not many restaurants to pick for dinner at night. Japanese breakfast was good! Would stay at this hotel (maybe try main building and with mountain view) next time.

From the outlook of this hotel, it gives you an ancient feeling. but once you enter, it looked grand and the room is spacious! love the breakfast and the private onsen! it's in middle of town so it's really easy to travel around Hakone following the bus line!

Very closed to train station and bus stop ”
Was at Hakone from 3Mar to 6Mar due to the virus or low season there are lesser tourists mostly local. The hotel is quiet at this period now. Will recommend this place.

First, the staff is amazing. If you only speak English and it’s your first time in Hakone, this is a solid place to stay for a short time. The staff makes it worth it being over backwards to help you enjoy you stay. Also if you are looking for hot spring (large hot tubs with natural spring water that is) this place has 2 indoors (one with bubbles) and 2 nice ones outside. The hotel has lots of other amenities but there are all kinds of rules that made it challenging to enjoy. The restaurants were reservation only and they were always booked up. It you make reservations and don’t show up, you are charged the full amount. It is pre fixe. If you don’t like it you are still charged. The izakaya (nice pub) was open until 12 but last order is 11. No take out. Massages were kind of expensive and the pool was closed in late May. The room was extremely underwhelming. This was my 4 room in Japan and the worst by far. Not sure why a nice hotel has a tiny plastic, cheap bathroom and a tiny sleeping area mostly taken up by the 2 beds. Again, this was my 4th place, so I know rooms are small in Japan. But this room was just crap. Clean enough, though not spectacular. The shower Was cheap, the tub was cheap, the sheets were cheap, everything felt cheap. But the cost wasn’t.

The food is downright terrible - I paid 5000yen extra for two breakfasts, which consisted of half a slice of cold toast, a half cooked cocktail sausage, and some runny scrambled eggs. I am not exaggerating. The coffee was instant coffee and they didn't have fresh milk, only sachets of creamer which had congealed. I realise these sound like 'first world problems', but if you are charging that much money for a room in the first place, and then adding a huge extra fee for breakfast, I at least expect something nice to eat and drink. Also, it's one of those hotels where the air conditioner temperature is set centrally, and you can't change it room by room. This meant that our room was too hot to sleep, with no way to make it cooler. It's a great location, and a kinda historic hotel, but I absolutely would not stay here again.

Great Location, Excellent Onsen & room!”
Had the opportunity to stay here in Yumoto Fujiya with my family during our visit to Hakone. We chose the Annex Room ( Futon Style sleeping arrangement ). Initially we were worried about hard floors, uncomfortable beddings and small and cramped place that we might have to spend the night. However, when we entered into the room, we were stunned with the immense amount of space we could carry for all 5 of our big luggage around the room and there were stilll space for all the futons to be laid out nicely and plenty of turning area ( for those who move around alot when they sleep ) Futons were super comfortable and we all knocked out pretty soundly after our relaxing soak in the Onsen within the hotel premises. We also opted for the dinner and breakfast inclusion for our hotel stay and the food that was provided was great and excellent! Not forgetting the proximity of the station to the hotel, Yumoto Fujiya is definitely a place i would recommend anyone who is looking for a place !
