Wonderful experience. Great location. Excellent dinner. Very comfortable bed. The communal bath was a perfect way to unwind. Having said all of that, you need to pay a lot of money to enjoy the experience.
AMAZING EXPERIENCE ”
the only bad thing i experienced in this hotel is that i haven't stayed more...perfect location..perfect food....the bed sheets are soooo comfortable more over...lovely staff who are always smiling..ive recommended it to my brother already
A night of lux”
The staff were super. Great service provided. Amazing amenities. I mean, take for example the hand wash in your bathroom, it’s proper premium Aesop product! And the ‘disposable’ razor provided were proper 5 blade razors. That’s pure quality. The only personal issue I had was the first day... my luggage was pretty heavy and i had to climb up a flight of stairs to get to the lobby.... you get the picture.
A worth to pay Experience”
It was short but great! Although we got an early bird deal, the price was still on the high end side. However, the food and ambidence of the hotel were excellent. Be reminded 'thou, there are steep and slippery stairs before reaching the hotel. Elders and heels need to be careful. The Japanese Breakfast and service are really superb!!
a great stay with awesome dinner”
although it's not a economy kind of Ryokan, it's still worth for value after experiencing their dinner and breakfast there. The smell if Yuzu is really an unforgettable memory. will recommended to who wants to experience a qualitative Ryokan.
Excellent authentic memory”
Yuzuya Ryokan is located just next door to the Yasaka Shrine which is one of the Prime location is you love experiencing traditional Kyoto. The Ryokan itself is warm and cozy. Staffs are helpful and speak English very well. The place is clean and the food is extraordinary.
There are many ways to travel but fully absorbing the local customs is simply the best. Let your self be transported to another world by staying here. It will be a memory to last you a lifetime. Bus number 100 from Kyoto station drops you off at the door. You will be amazed as you walk through its wooden doors.
Very convenient location but secluded. Excellent facilities and service. Friendly customer service and hospitable. Amazing food with great yuzu experience.
expensive but worthwhile”
the location is right next to yasaka shrine, and everything is perfect, I suggest purchase their breakfast service during your stay, you wont regret it. The only thing is the cost, $500 per night is definitely something you need to take into consideration, it is worth visiting once, but probably only once :)
Very high quality experience - thoroughly splendid. Yuzu delight!”
Stunning Japanese Ryokan nestled next to beautiful park, offers serenity and very high quality seasonal cuisine. The dinner was exquisite in every aspect, including excellent service. Yuzu (citric fruit) inspired theme continues throughout, including the ground-floor spa, and in the food - naturally. Yuzuya Ryokan delivers a high quality Japanese experience, with very comfortable stay and sublime cuisine. Impressed at the support from night-staff when my wife was taken ill. Thank you for your kindness (hope that the team enjoyed the Arabian Dates). Care and attention demonstrated throughout our stay.
Fantastic service in a great location, loved the bath”
My husband and I treated ourselves to a night at Yuzuya as part of our honeymoon and it didn't disappoint. All staff gave us the level of service you'd expect when paying this price, and they catered to our dietary requirements for the kaiseki dinner without any issues (vegetarian for me, no seafood for my husband) . We both really enjoyed the yuzuya baths and our room was comfortable. The dining room has a lovely outlook onto a garden. The ryokan is next door to Yasaka Shrine in Gion so the location couldn't be much better, and it's not too noisy for it either. The steps leading up to it make you feel like you've discovered a hidden place in the middle of Kyoto. It was a real treat and we'd recommend it to others looking for the same.
I spent a month researching ryokans and hotels in Kyoto and I'm glad I picked Yuzuya in the end. I wanted my trip to be perfect because it was so precious for me to travel with family. I want to say Thank You to Yuzuya for making the stay delightful. I was concerned with the noise mentioned in some posts, but in the end it did not become a bother. I was lucky to get room Murasaki in the back... Despite there were maybe two or three times that I heard the sound of a siren from the street, it was overall a very tranquil and private experience. The lady served us was nice and friendly. I have to say the whole breakfast dining experience was surreal. A moment of pure sensations and reflections, and the amount of stimulation is just right. We spent two nights in the ryokan and for both days the Japanese breakfast was delicious. If you are looking for a reward for yourself or quality time with your significant person this is the place to enjoy. 非常舒适，一切恰到好处。旅馆比想像的安静。早餐真的是对自己的奖赏。
Beautiful ryokan, excellent food and service, comfortable rooms. Thank you Yuzuya for looking after us and making our honeymoon a memorable one. I have nothing but praises for this place. My wife and I loved the Kaseiki dinner and the yuzu onsen so much. I would recommend one night here over two nights in a cheaper ryokan. It's really worth the experience.
Fantastic ryokan with high standards”
This hidden gem in the middle of bustling Gion is a real treat. We had a nice large room, the kaiseki dinner was really good, the service incredible and yuzu bath was a great way to start the day. The location is central, the entrance only has japanese signs. We had a bit of bad luck as the neighboring lot had construction during our stay, it was very loud. Besides that the experience was very nice
Really beautiful Ryokan for romantic experience”
This is a really pretty Ryokan in an amazing location in Kyoto. The staff are really lovely and friendly and the included breakfast is quite special. The traditional Keiseki dinner they do is also really amazing although not cheap.
Hidden Ryokan in the middle of Magical Gion”
Perched beside a temple in the Gion district, this Ryokan is hidden behind a rocky wall with only a mysterious small door that leads a stony climb. A great Ryokan in Gion, with a very good traditional breakfast offering. The views in the some of the rooms can be a little lacklustre but the Ryokan and it's atrium garden is wonderful.
Yuzuya is a wonderful place to stay. Truly pampering.”
I docked one star for location because it's right in the heart of one of he busiest places in Kyoto. But they manage to maintain a sense of calm. If you want to be in the middle of the action, it's 5/5, but for me, it's one less. Still, the staff and facilities are great. I can't compare to other ryokan, but I felt like a prince!
Oasis in tourist Gion”
Small establishment in an excellent location. There's a treacherous flight of stone steps up to the rokyan, but staff can help with luggage. The okami (I presume) and nakai-san speak English and are used to receiving international guests. The guestroom (up another flight of stairs) is not big and simply furnished but well-kept. Low ceiling in the attached bathroom though. Dinner was lovely (the Japanese explanations given at the other tables were probably more detailed, but oh well I don't speak the language) and breakfast comforting (was offered Japanese or continental). Turndown service is done during dinner and the futon will be kept while you're at breakfast. The ryokan can hold your luggage if you arrive early or are not due to leave for your next destination or flight.
I thoroughly enjoyed my very relaxing stay at Yuzuya Ryokan. My room was spartan in fine Japanese tradition, and very clean and efficient. The public onsen was very comforting. And, the scenic setting was very peaceful. I also found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. I will definitely plan another trip and stay again at Yuzuya!
Beautiful and serene in the middle of Kyoto”
Yuzuya Ryokan has a wonderful staff. The traditional rooms and service definitely met and exceeded our expectations. The kaiseki at the Yuzuya is delicious (with yuzu as their signature flavor) and served with grace and lovely descriptions of the courses. We loved the location, central to the Gion-Shijo station and next door to the Yasaka Shrine. We also loved the overall atmosphere aided by the inner atrium and stone stairs leading up to the entrance (warning: there are more than a few steps up to get to the hotel).
