Very pleasant stay”
Very nice and relaxing stay at the Zazen resort. It's really beautiful (especially at night, with all its lights and candles). Rooms are decorated with tastes and spacious and semi-open bathrooms are great. Loved it! The restaurant was outstanding, though a bit pricey. I have no words for breakfast, which was undoubtedly the best breakfast we had in Thailand. Staff is efficient and very nice. Only negative point was mosquitoes... but I guess that's the price to pay when staying in a luxurious garden like the Zazen resort. Would definitely come back if we ever return to Koh Samui!
Dreamy beach in a peaceful location”
Our stay at Zazen was very memorable. The resort is located at the most beautiful part of Bo Phut beach. Although at the end of Bo Phut, it is close to Fisherman's Village (10-15 minutes by foot). The garden surrounding the bungalows is very idilic and the spa has a wide variety of treatments (we recommend a spa ritual including a head and scalp massage). One thing that we had to get used to is the semi-open-roof bathroom. Otherwise a very good choice of resort for couples and small families who want to have a quiet and relaxing vacation.
We had an amazing babymoon at Zazen boutique resort and spa. The staff were wonderful with smiles on their faces everyday and accommodated every need. Breakfast was delicious and I miss having it every day. There were Thai and western selections for breakfast and a buffet as well as champagne every morning. Best of all was the fresh array of vegetable juices to choose from. The pool was lovely and the pool attendant was so kind and would come by to offer us complimentary cold towels, sunblock, and little shots of refreshments. It was these added touches that made it so special. They also had events there like a cocktail party where the staff would come and introduce themselves and offer advice on where to go or activities to do. Very classy and elegant. The food was wonderful. The only downside I would say is the beach was where boats would dock and there was oil in the ocean. The sand felt a bit strange and I came out with grease stains on my body.
Fantastic and super romantic”
Came here as we are considering getting married in Koh Samui. This is an outstanding boutique resort. What stood out most of all is the attention and true dedication of the staff. They were all so caring, happy to help and with a genuine smile on their face. We spoke quite extensively both via mail correspondence (due to the wedding planning) and when we arrived to Tiffany. She stood out and I can honestly say we would feel totally safe in her hands for our big day. There were some families but it has a romantic vibe so would be best suited for couples. There is a spa (at extra cost) as well as some classes you may take (at an extra cost). . We felt that the classes (we took an amazing yoga class with a true professional) should perhaps be included in the price of stay. The food was delicious. We got to experience dinner in the restaurant as well as breakfast and it was by far the best we had on the trip, this including both Thai dishes and Western. The whole resort is lit up with candles at night and it truly is breath taking. Every inch of the resort is thought out in terms of decor. There are also extra touches like a cigar room and a wine cellar. In terms of the room, it is spacious and has all the amenities you would want/ expect. The beach is small and this seems suiting as again it is a small resort. There is beach equipment for the disposal of the guests. Amazing place.
Perfect end to the holiday”
Our stay at Zazen was for only one night, but we really wish it had been longer. From the moment you arrive, you are treated to a luxurious experience with such attention to detail. A cold towel and a fresh fruit drink is given at reception while the staff take your bags to your room. When you walk through the resort, a comprehensive tour is given and the grounds are so beautiful, you know that you've arrived in paradise. The room itself is lovely, with a big comfortable bed, well stocked mini bar and outside bathroom with lovely bath products to use. The only criticism is the lack of mosquito net. There were a lot of mosquitos in the resort, we had been staying in West facing resorts for the rest of our Thailand holiday where the wind is strong enough to prevent mozzies flying, but here (north facing) there are a lot, and the electric and spray repellents did not do quite a good enough job. A net is a simple addition for the price paid. Although the pool is relatively small, we had no trouble getting a bed round it and there is someone bring you complimentary fresh fruit and drinks whilst you relax which is a lovely touch. Should you go in the sea or pool, when you come out a member of staff will have straightened your towel ready for you! Excellent service! My wife had a 90 minute Thai massage in the spa and came out looking so relaxed and calm saying it was the best massage she'd ever had. For the equivalent of £45 I thought that was very good value. Lastly, in the evening we ate at the hotel restaurant. The food was simply delicious, easily the best we had in Thailand. At £80 per couple, it was certainly more than we had paid elsewhere but for our last night was well worth it. We had the Taste of Asia banquet which was huge and so well cooked. Highly recommended. Overall, we had an amazing time at Zazen and are already planning to stop there at the end of our S.E. Asia tour next year. Just remember to take your DEET!
Beautiful Hotel - Location ”
my husband, i and our college age daughter stayed at zazen may 11th and 12th. we could not have been happier with our choice. i highly recommend this location for everyone. however, families with multiple small children might be better at a large scale hotel because this feels very adult in nature. the staff could not have been kinder, more accommodating or helpful. the food was incredible whether breakfast or dinner. i am still thinking about the breads at breakfast we've not had better croissants - ever! my only recommendation would be the rock in our bedroom which was used as a step up to the bed level "felt" a bit challenging at night in the dark should you need to get off the bed platform level. we loved the visual effect of the rock and in the day time it was a non issue but at night worried a bit about a mis step. the outdoor bathroom's are beautiful and we've decided to build a similar one in our home. great job zazen staff!!! thank you so much for maintaining your property and kitchen standards so well, it was a joy to stay there and will be recommended to my clients who are coming to samui in november.
Most pictures online of Zazen is not so flattering. However if you come across a promotional video and thought “wow” then that’s basically it really. Zazen is like a balinese paradise resort with ultra friendly and accommodating staff. The walk to your room at night is probably one of the most relaxing experience with the sound of water and beautiful lanterns everywhere. Breakfast is one of the highlights for me. The menu is not extensive but just right in my view. Its not fully a buffet and some food you need to order and they will prepare it for you fresh. But my favorite is the fresh juice bar. They prepared combination juices in small glass bottles. I could literally stay the whole morning chugging down fresh juices. The resort is situated towards the end of Bophut beach and road. You will need to walk a fair bit to reach Fisherman’s village (probably 15-20 minutes). Fridays there is a night market and the place is buzzing. Be wary of taxis. Most will charge fix price!
Incredibly romantic boutique resort”
Stayed here for 1 night for birthday treat. Upgraded to Beachfront room which was superb! Had a delicious dinner and was given a bouquet of orchids and a beautiful cake wow. Staff were great and must mention Kwang at reception, fabulous...nothing too much trouble and upgrade was such a special surprise. The tropical garden with paths lit up at night by candles and lanterns were stunning and although the beach and sea are not good for swimming as alot of small fisherman's boats are moored there, it's very peaceful and relaxing just watching it all on a sunlounger. Zazen is at the end of Bohput beach and about 15 minutes walk to Fishermans Village...well worth going there as the dining is all on the beachfront and very unique, with the restaurants above the beach and steps going down. Check out Coco Tams Bar with sand under your and rope swing chairs. Fire dances and an amazing ambiance suits every age group and the restaurant beside it is new and beautifully impressive with large cane swinging chairs and navy and white nautical theme...stunning! Back to Zazen, very old Thai styled resort that is intimate, relaxing and very romantic. We'll return again, pure bliss 🎏
Charming resort with the best food in Samui ”
My letter to the management. I am writing to you to express my appreciation of our stay at Zazen's. My wife and children thoroughly enjoyed our stay. We have frequently your restaurant over the past 7 years and this was our first stay (6 nights). The restaurant is legendary and the only place in Koh Samui where I feel safe to eat anything from the menu including salads. Being able to see into the kitchen and observe the cleanliness assures me that its a quality operation. The food from breakfast to dinner is always excellent and reason enough to stay with you. The setting is unique and really comes alive at night through your excellent lighting and beautiful views. As you know, my wife had secretly organised a 10 year wedding anniversary renewal ceremony. Your staff coordinated this with Sarah and went over and above what was expected. The service and setting were amazing, the 3 monks and blessing memorable, flowers and especially the photos we will cherish. Even when it rained and meant we couldn't have our dinner on the beach your agile team sprung into action and set up a private dinning room that would put most function centers to shame in about 20 minutes. The dinner was stunning and my family had a wonderful experience. The other thing Zazen do well is the little things: Bringing palate cleansers during courses Delivering sunscreen and sunglasses cleaning cloth/spray to you by the pool Fruit sticks for the kids Iced tea on a hot afternoon by the pool Amazing ice creams for the kids Ryad and his team go out of their way to ensure you have a great stay. The Resort is not overly big or busy and provides a real chilled out experience. We'll be back.
An amazing place to relax and unwind”
We couldn't say enough about the service in this resort, the staff are amazing and are so friendly and helpful. The restaurant is also amazing, everything we tried was beautiful and breakfast was also fantastic. Not the cheapest place to eat and you'll quickly learn with resorts and hotels and proper restaurants, they add a 10% service fee which I don't think is always appropriate. Nevertheless, we had an amazing stay. The resort itself is beautiful and luscious and you really feel like you're in a tropical heaven! Unfortunately we didn't have great weather so weren't able to swim in the beach but it was an amazing 4 nights spent at Zazen!
dont miss this GEM”
In our trip to Thailand we stays at three 5 star hotels and 1 other besides ZAZEN. ZAZEN was by far our favorite. The food was awesome, The room was clean and beautiful including the :outdoor" bathroom. The grounds are imacculate and truly give a Zen vibe. The location was great but by far what puts this hotel over the top is the staff. They could not have been more helpful, more friendly, more courteous and just fun to be around. I wish they lived closer so my wife and I could have them over for dinner. We miss Zazen already.!!!
Beautiful Resort - Real Attention to Detail”
Amazing spa facilities. Great restaurant. Super accommodating staff. Beautifully designed and decorated rooms. Nice yoga studio and gym. A real oasis. The only downside (other than the weather, which wasn't the resort's fault) is that much of the beach has been eroded. Very small beach serving Zazen as a result. I would highly recommend this hotel as a stand-out in Samui.
We loved Zazen. The location was great, we could begin walking toward Fisherman's village and then hop a ride on their local rides and get off anywhere we wanted. The proximity to Fisherman's Village was a highlight, especially for dining, Friday night's local street market and the $12 massages at Maximas! Zazen itself is lovely in all ways. Huge, beautiful rooms, wonderful gardens and breakfast buffet. Anything I can say about Zazen would be superlative. It is a place we will return to!
Absolutely gorgeous facilities, attentive staff, amazing food (banana pancakes in the breakfast menu to die for) and outdoor bathrooms! Zazen was my favorite thing about our Koh Samui trip!
Best service ever! Beautiful resort”
Best service we have ever had in our travels, hands down. Staff goes above & beyond. Gorgeous grounds, perfectly maintained. Rooms are wonderful- order a mosquito net. Private beach is lovely. Did not love the area outside the hotel. Too polluted and crazy. Preferred koh phangan for walking, exploring, etc. But Zazen itself cannot be beat!
Very beautiful hotel! Grounds are very well maintained & it's full of hidden gems - great for photos. The rooms are a bit run down though- could use a bit of freshening up! The staff is the hotel greatest asset really. Service with a warm smile & very courteous. If it's someone's birthday during the stay they decorate the room nicely & give them a small complementary cake- very nice touch! The reception staff was also very helpful & helped us book good excursions. Breakfast is good & you can order eggs/pancakes/waffles/crepes from the menu & they make it for you in the kitchen. Wide variety of fresh juices & fruits, too. The restaurant is v good but on the pricey side- so not for every day (80-100£ for 2 ppl excl. drinks). You can go to the fisherman's village near by for alternative dining options. The fisherman's village is a 2 km walk or a 3 min. ride by taxi for 200 baht. You can walk it from the beach or the road. We tried both & we found the street easier (because of the sand). We didn't use the spa as the prices were even higher than in the UK. We had great massages in the fisherman's village though & paid a fraction of the price. As for the beach- it's small but adequate. The water was not very clean though. Not sure if it's just the time of the year but it was cleaner further down the beach. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at the Zazen & would definitely recommend it to our friends.
Beautiful and exclusive”
This is arguable the best resort in Bo Phut beach and its price reflects this fact. The service is very good and consistent and the manager welcomed us personally on arrival.
Excellent and wonderful stay”
We spent a few nights at the Zazen Resort and found it exceptional. It's very romantic and quant. I'd recommend if you are a couple looking to relax and enjoy the spa. The food is absolutely amazing and the staff did a wonderful job to accommodate all our needs. Overall, we had a marvelous time and I'd stay again. We walked to fisherman's village many nights and it's just about 15 minute walk. The beach was recently made smaller by mother nature but the team is working to restore the beach size.
Excellent hotel, very friendly staff”
We were surprised at how developed and tourist-rammed koh samui was, but Zazen was a very welcome tranquil escape when it all got too much!
Paradise at Zazen ”
This resort was truly beautiful. Beachfront rooms are literally on the beach. The restaurants are mind blowing. I never had a bad meal. The breakfast buffet is exstensive and impressive in its array and definitely worth getting up before 10:30 even for a non breakfast person as I am. The grounds are incredibly well kept and so beautiful. The staff was wonderful and incredibly helpful. I plan to visit Zazen again.
