A guesthouse that I would definitely come back to.”

Clean, quiet, comfortable, very nice receptionist

for starters, mari mari guesthouse is very clean. guests are asked to leave their shoes at the reception area before going to their rooms and the place is swept everyday. it feels almost like home. besides that, the receptionist there is a very polite and helpful chinese lady. she patiently guided us through everything there was to know about the place when we first got there. very helpful indeed. as for location, it is a little far from the main attraction of melaka, which is jonker street, if you are travelling on foot. it is located next to equatorial hotel. i had a car, so, there wasn't a problem. but, i believe that the receptionist would surely be able to help get a taxi whenever you needed one. one good thing about it's location is that it's very quiet and very suitable for rest and relaxation after a full day of exhausting walking, seeing and eating. i found out about mari mari guesthouse by chance. i think it's still quite new, so, there weren't many reviews about it. however, the very few photos of the place gave me a good feeling about staying there. and, i was proven right. the location on google maps weren't quite accurate but i did managed to find the place just by calling the receptionist of the guesthouse. she was very polite and patient at guiding me there. mari mari guesthouse gave me a good first impression and satisfaction upon leaving. i definitely got value for money at only per night. i think i'd be back whenever i'm in melaka again.

Lovely staffs, great location but bedding...”

Value for money and staff is very accommodating

i really like that staff of mari-mari guesthouse she is very nice and accommodating. they actually let you check in till 11 pm. the place is hard to find if (only if) you came from the airport and the taxi driver is not a native of melaka. so don't forget to list the telephone number of the guesthouse/inn/hotel so the taxi driver can call the staff for directions while you guys are on the way. the guesthouse has free wife and free use of computer. you have to leave your shoes on the rack in the receiving area (so bring slippers for indoors). 2 bathrooms serves the ground floor with approximately accommodates 30 persons. lavatory is also available outside the bathroom. we were lucky that on the time we were there no one uses the bathroom as much as we did. the guesthouse is very near to malls, a'famosa, dutch graveyard etc. but 15 minutes away from jonker walk. that is why i'm suggesting this guesthouse for people who likes to walk. so people with children, if you want to stay here, have your car with you or rent the trishaw/taxi. additional info the nearest money changer inside the mall is only 7 minutes away. i just wish the bedding are newly washed because it seems that the bedding from our room has been there for quite some time even tho no one has used it. but this is not really a big problem because we chose the place for value for money.

    Clean, Simple, Very Affordable

Mari-mari guest house was indeed a good experience in a good way. The place has very reasonable rates yet the place is very clean with all the necessary furnishing and even some more. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. They even waited until 11pm for us to check in as we were rather late. It is also very near shopping centers and within walking distance to the famous Jonker Street. A definite recommended place to stay.

Recommended for both short and long stay.”

This place is recommended for those who are looking for a conveniently affordable stay for both leisure and work. I have been staying in this guest house or may I say my new second home for work like almost two months now and nothing is to be complained for. The price is quite affordable to me and the facilities are enough for a business traveler like me. You can be sure that you will get a good service from the staff should you need any help or assistance. This accommodation is location wise and many interesting places are available in a walking distance. You only need to walk like two blocks to get your groceries done or what's more you can visit and enjoy the truly enjoyable stay in Historical City of Malacca. So for me with current workload, it has been the best affordable accommodation so far as you can hang out and chill out when you need it most!

    Price, Cleanliness and Location

price - one of the cheapest in town room - relatively spacious with the key basics(air-con, bed and table) hygiene - clean and neat location - very strategic location. 5-10mins walk to shopping center and amenities. facilities - just the basics for living. no tv or fridge. notes - you will have to bring your own toiletries for this guesthouse. as toilet and bathroom are common to all. - if you want to iron, you will have to bring your own portable iron.

    A Pleasant Stay”

Clean, Good Location, Lovely Heritage Building, Friendly Staff, Reasonable Rates.

I booked 4 rooms, with family members ranging from 3-year-old to 70's, staying there for a night. It was sure a pleasant stay. The hotel is clean & neat, particularly the common bathrooms. We also like the artistic touch around the hotel where simple but interesting pictures are painted on the walls, especially those in the rooms. My niece had difficulty in choosing the room unit she wanted as they all have different wall-paintings. My lil nephew was very excited too throughout the stay as he actively wandered between the rooms and around the hotel. If any other guests find it noisy that day, i would like to apologise on my nephew's behalf. And it brought back great memories to my dad who revealed that my grandfather once owned that building many years back. It's a simple hotel but its cleanliness, sparkling common bathrooms, a nice common living room with tv & desktop & mags, a pantry and good location (just behind Equatorial Hotel)make it a very comfortable hotel. I, however, would love it if they use pot-pourri instead of mothballs to "freshen" the rooms. Also, it would be nicer if more solid room doors & knobs are used as the current ones are quite filmsy. A little cobweb hanging from the corridor ceiling also needs cleaning. Other than that, it's really a very pleasant hotel. We enjoyed our stay there.

Cheap, helpful staff, clean, recently renovated

Very helpful staff. We needed bus tickets for travel early the next day and I was driven to the central bus station (out of the main part of town) to buy them and then dropped off again back at the guesthouse. In fact we then got driven to a great place for dinner. This was just because the guy happened to be finishing his shift so it wont be a guaranteed service but still, that was very nice of them.
