Beautiful location for a simple, relaxing getaway ”
I really like this place but there's something not quite right about it.
It's budgeted at the luxury, four star end of the spectrum. But what you receive is a simple, bungalow-style villa at a hotel price. The facilities & service aren't bad, they're just not suited to the price. The staff are really helpful and kind. The accomodation is sparse but nice - hot water but no mod cons like a minibar or TV (which you'd expect when paying $80 a night). And the food is extremely plain - locally sourced organic rice & veges & meat stir fried with vege oil & garlic & soy, nice but a bit gruelling after a couple of days.
No bar and cafe as described.
It's a really great, back to basics hut nestled in the mountains - a place to unwind and do nothing. You're paying for access to beautiful natural surrounds (a river to swim in, mountains to walk). And an absence of tourists and the proximity to the local village - there's no boundary between the guest accomodation and village.
