Good location, nice hotel, ok breakfast, comfy bed”
location, bed, a/c, computer use & wi-fi
we liked this hotel very much for the price, we paid $76 in high season whihc was a deal. the breakfast was ok, not eggs or anything hot other than coffee/tea. we found that all hotels gave eggs so it was a bit unusual not ot have something hot. the wi-fi worked great and the lobby has 2 free computers for use which was also handy. the location is about 15 min walk to downtown which we liked. the rooms are a good size, but you'll need earplugs for sleeping as you do in most of south america given the traffic and joy of honking.
Never stay at Dakar”
never stay at the dakar hotel. i would not recommend it even to my worst enemy. the room is dirty to the point that the toillet is black. staff are rude and helpless. Staff even tried to be a smart when we asked for a courtesy for late checkout and later he wanted to charge extra for a room for disabled people that was completely dusty and dirty, no sheets on the bed, no airconditioner, with mold on the wall, among others. also, one of the reasons for choosing dakar was the free wifi access since i had to work and depended on it. i paid more to stay at dakar and there was no wifi in the rooms. most guests were complaining. i had to go to the computer shop and they were kind enough to let me access their network free of charge!!!! breakfast could not be worse. you don´t get fruits, cheese, ham, eggs nor cerials. all you get is bread, artificial orange juice and coffee! additionally, it is very unsafe because your door does not close properly. i was told that i had to bang it to open and close it. sometimes, it would stay opened! do imagine all the guests banging their doors to open and close it during the night while you are trying to sleep. the hotel is far from the center, no restaurants around it, and hard to get taxi. do not stay at the dakar hotel & spa.
nice hotel but not in city centre”
friendly and good service
nice hotel good service and friendly staff about 500m from centre - some restaurants and ok food but go to Artizan street were every one goes to for good food and socialize. Wines are amzing on the wine tour but check the weather as we did it when it was 30+C - very hot.
Not quite living up to their own ambition.”
Big rooms, gym and pool on the roof.
Big rooms, nice breakfast, good service. However, a lot of things were broken, the walls thin like paper (we heard the sound from the tv in the room next door all the time) and the bathroom door wouldn't close. Also there was no hangers in the room or something to put your cloths on. In a room for two persons it is also a bit strange to only get one chair in the balcony and one chair in the room. The room was really big so there would have been plenty of spacy for this sort of things. Anyway, it was a good place concidered the low price.
