We booked a night with our 2yr old & were so disappointed. The staff were very friendly but the cleanliness of our room was terrible & not at all the standard it should have been for what it cost. There was an inch of dust on all surfaces, hair/dust & water stains in the bathroom. Very disappointing & would not recommend.
location very good but the food was not that good...
I could not believe they have a problem with hot water sometimes we could not shower because water was cold for the whole weekend...
Not what we expected”
The view, breakfast
When we arrived, we were told to book in at the more 'modern' part of the Hotel. That meant picking up our luggage and driving approx 1/2 mile to the 'new' part. We asked the Receptionist why we weren't booked in the older part as we had booked on-line and saw the photograph of the Manor (18th Century building). She apologized, so we picked up our luggage, again, and drove back to the older building. Our allocated room was on the top floor with a lift only going to the first floor. We carried our luggage a further two flights of steep stairs. The room was tiny and chlostrophobic and not particulary clean. The shower pipe was mouldy and the light switches were, indeed, filthy. The bedside lamps and standard lamp were burnt - a potential fire risk. Would not recommend this Hotel to anyone - maybe Syrian Refugees.
location to wedding venue, gardens
Check out receptionist was a bit dim and could only ever refer to the print out charges which were wrong. Took three attempts to convince her that my phone calculator was correct. She had no idea of room rates for the day without phoning someone else to check. Altogether 'dim'.
Agoda charge was the same as the room rate at the reception. Thought you were meant to be cheaper?????????
Great location, shame about everything else”
I stayed for one night with my girlfriend as she had an interview the next morning locally. The drive through the golf course to the hotel was beautiful, although it took some time due to all the speed bumps. Be aware that the cheap rooms are in the conference centre, which is quite a distance from the mansion house which you see in the photos. The confernce centre focuses on Wokefield Park's relationship with BMW and as such you feel like an intruder, a bit like staying in a warehouse. The layout is poor and walking to our room wqsn't easy, The room was ok ish, fairly standard although on the cheap side, I've stayed at nicer travel lodges. At night time I could hear clearly every door slam on our floor. We didn't eat in the hotel apart from having some soup which was ok, we skipped breakfast so I can't comment on the restaurant. However after saying all of this, the staff were very pleasant, helpful and kind. Overall I'd say we had value for money and if we'd been told we were staying in a rundown travel lodge before-hand, I'd have been happy. It's a shame that the hotel appears on its website to be nicer than it really is, as this gives you false expectations. Or perhaps I should say, it's a shame they built such a poor conference centre hotel in such a beautiful location and they should do something about it to improve it.
Golf venue also for non-golfers”
last minute prices
this is a 5 star hotel / golfing venue in a big park. but they have very good last minute deals. exactly this is what we used for a thursday evening. the long driveway goes past the golf holes. then there are 2 buildings - the confirmation email didn't contain which one we booked into. asking the reception in the executive building (the other being the mansion) , turned out we're in the right place. the room was big enough, clean as you would expect. breakfast (full english) was also included, and they provide a good, and varied breakfast buffet. parking was ample and free in front of the building.
they even have nintendos in the lobby for kids/adults/.
