The views; the bird life; leaving after one night.
Although the houseboat had been booked and paid for at least 6 months in advance, the owner claimed that he had not known what time to expect us and, therefore, had failed to light the only stove or switch on any lights. Thus we arrived, in the late afternoon, to a cold, dark and musty atmosphere...a most unwelcome start start to our 4-day Nageen Lake retreat. Matters certainly worsened when we were shown our two bedrooms. Apart from the tired bed linen and pillows, the bathrooms were quite dirty and badly in need of repair and refurbishment.
The dining experience was another disappointment: a badly stained tablecloth and place mats; and grubby tableware (wiped with a filthy towel). We huddled by the stove for most of the evening, continually having to call for more wood to keep it alight. This was provided reluctantly for, as the owner pointed out, wood is expensive.
The owner of Khilona needs to realise that a spectacular view does not compensate for lack of effort and poor quality service.
cleanliness, beautiful intterers
the room is very beautiful , but the location of boat is not very good, this is opposite side from the market when ever u want to go market u have to pay for crossing
Well looked-after on a gorgeous houseboat”
the staff, the location and the history
The stay was excellent, we had a truly memorable time and plan to return in the future. I cannot commend highly enough the friendly staff who looked after us beautifully, nothing was too much trouble. The location is perfect with a calm tranquility surrounded by birds and flowers. And as a bonus we discovered the boat had been in the popular TV show "Jewel in the Crown". Fantastic!
