Reasonable place to stay. ”
The staff is not too helpful since they don’t speak much English. The room was spacious and clean for Laos standard. Everything was old. Good value for the money. I stayed at KGB the first night and would stay here again.
I highly do not recommend this hotel. You definitely get what you pay for. Beds are uncomfortable. The bathroom is scary. Windows are not tightly sealed, so mosquitoes are everywhere. Karaoke downstairs does not stop. Chickens crowing and dogs barking all night. Not even worth it to stay one night. It is located right on the Mekong River with a view of Thailand.
Take your ear plugs ”
Reasonable price for a room in Thakhek. Rooms clean and comfortable but the noise from the local houses behind the hotel at night is horrendous. Dogs barking, rooster crowing, and if there's a local celebration happening, loud local bands till midnight. The dogs and roosters are the worst though, it never lets up through the entire night.
horror movie hotel”
when we first arrived it was 4am and the lady at reception was sleeping so we had to wake her up so that she could check us in. the room they gave us gave onto the back of the hotel, which had roosters constantly singing and dogs fighting all night long. the cockroach in the bathroon was not the only insect there as there was an ants infestation as well as flies everywhere in the bathroom, the bath tub had water that must have sitting there for months as it was brown and smelly. we asked to change rooms and the receptionist just gave us a key to a room that was exactly the same next door. as we were staying two nights i thought of letting it go but wanted to let people know that thos hotel is definitely not what it seams on the pictures.
Dont stay hear”
The staff are rude and not willing to help, one was drunk on arival. The rooms are old and tired as are the beds. The frige and hot water was not on and the hot wirter system leaked. 3 star I don't think so there are better options in town.
Not bad, clean rooms but no view”
The rooms are clean and location is great. The outdoor sitting area is nice. But the rooms smell a bit smokey and require keeping the aircon on to keep the stench out. The windows open to the back and there is no view of the Mekong from inside your room, unfortunately.
Mekong hotel - big miss”
Booked and paid for two double rooms - only had one available After wasting time discussing and being told no room available - more discussions and magically a room Appeared- we didn't really think it was worth the money so moved for subsequent stays
I will choose Mekong hotel for if having next trip”
Comfortatble. I booked Mekong hotel via agoda, and they offered me a good service: the room is clean and large with good condition, including air-conditioner, nice view to Mekong River. The staff is patient and friendly.
Over priced. Wyfi didn't work. No English Channel on TV. Breakfast not included. The receptionist didn't even know the Loas international telephone code. In all very disappointing.
Passable for a short stay. Facilities are old and not as clean, but functional - hot water with good pressure and a firm bed. Located on the river, with access to all cafes and restaurants.
The installation of a new elevator was very timely cos I am not well in my right leg. Need to have water boiler in the room. Thanks
Great views ”
Really nice views over the Mekong. Close to everything. Everything you want in a room they have. Only downfall is the bed is really hard but so are most beds over here.
Old and simple hotel”
The service extremely bad, can be say no service at all, room no have telephone, tv is old big block style and not clear. Food is awfeful
Satisfactory, value for money ”
In fact it is not as bad as what people commented. Although the facility is slightly old, it is clean and comfortable too. We actually came back for additional 2 nights and got a room with stink bathroom. But then we managed to change the room. The staffs are OK. They did serve us with smiles. Again value for money!
As we got out of the tuk-tuk (taxi) the receptionist ran out shouting "Full, no room" waving us away. I told her we had a reservation and she repeated "Full, no room." Finally I was able to bring up our prepaid reservation on my phone and she grudgingly allowed us in, then showed us a twin room on the ground floor. I said we had asked for a double room. Furiously, she grabbed a key and sent me to the 4th floor where we found a double room. Nobody to help with luggage, no smile of apology, just sheer lack of caring or professionalism. The room was dangerous to anyone over 5 ft 6 inches - the bathroom door was too low, and a loose shelf above the inbuilt desk was poised to cause a head injury. Advertised WiFi didn't work. Receptionist shrugged and said "I don't know".. The bed was rock hard. I got stuck in the elevator during a power failure. The flimsy walls transmitted every word of the neighbors and their TV at 6 am. Room was noisy. Construction going on.
basic budget hotel”
Not the most wonderful hotel on earth but it is affordable and well located. Our room was really spacious and everything was clean, but the room was very dated and our bed was rock hard (like sleeping in the floor). We got free toiletries. The windows could not be closed completely, which made the room a bit noisy. Thankfully there was a mosquito mesh on the window. Staff at the reception were friendly. You get what you pay for, but in this case the room rate could have been a bit cheaper.
Very good location ( 1 minute from city center and just next thé Mékong qui is very beautifuk). It was clean and the room was very good equiped (AC, fan, fridge and big bathroom). The wifi bad just sine pepblem
