Ryokan Kawazu Kaien***** Our vacation was definitely called a vacation. The facility was very very peaceful and convenient place to be. with in walking distance of the beach and convenient stores. We almost didnt want to leave our room because everything was just perfect for us. The onsen is definitely something that we needed. the presentation and cleanliness of the rooms was outstanding. 5 stars in my opinion. Will definitely stay again.
Extremely cute and well decorated ryokan”
Great yakatas, great food, great futons with the sound of ocean in the background
Super great. This is a ryokan experience not to miss. It helps if you speak a little Japanese though.
Worth a visit.”
Friendliness, Good service and nice baths.
Very pleasant! Located by the seaside (although facing a highway), this quiet and semi-traditional Ryokan is worth the price you pay for. It is not cheap, but opt for the traditional tatami rooms (only two out of seven rooms) with meals included. You might be surprised initially that other local guests have different dinner plans, especially with lobster and other fanciful sparkling drinks. I think this is because local Japanese travel agent sites have a wider choice set of packages available to the Japanese reader. Not so on sites like Agoda though. The hot spring baths were very relaxing, and due to the low number of rooms, this means that you are quite likely to get the bath all to yourself most of the time. Otherwise, you can book a private time (but only for about 40 minutes per day). But hey, there's only so many baths you can have in a day, no? Easy walk to the Kawazu station where you can take a bus to see local sights like the seven waterfalls, or hop onto the train line and head further south to nice beaches like in Shimoda.
