Love the Friendly staff”
Staff are excellent Friendly, professional, uniforms are very professional and clean Loved it Chef on duty Saturday morning was excellent, the lady helping out by baking eggs on Sunday morning a bit shy and don't have enough confidence to take over such a big task, some people got a bit inpatient with her, don't put someone in a place where they don't belong yet. Let them build up confidence first for such a busy time.

The view from the chalet was spectacular. The chalet was spacious, homely and comfortable. Golden Gate is very close to hiking trails, we tried Brandwag Butress hiking trail which had glorious views of the mountains. Do try the mountain drive, we spotted some wildebeest and antelopes.

Best Stay Ever”
I booked into the chalets but had to upgrade to the hotel, as the chalets were too big cause they had 2 bedrooms, and I didn’t like the interior design. However my stay at the hotel was amazing , nothing short of magical. The stunning views, the attentive staff and the convience of the restaurant made it all worth while. To anyone who is looking to book the hotel should do it through ThE Sans website

Great space, great site, nice self catering places and close enough to Clarens. Book activities timelessly as they fill up fast. There is not much at the Glen Renen shop so stock up in Clarens.

3 Star Hotel with 5 Star staff”
I cannot think of one thing to complain about. Booking in felt like a 5 star hotel (except for the baggage trolley). The lady that checked me in was excellent (Thank you Mbali!) The safe in the room was locked, I called to reception and in less than 5 min someone unlocked it. The location is a little piece of heaven. Very nice hiking trails. Room was very nice.

Modern looking hotel in the heart of the beautiful Golden Gate Park. Views from the rooms are stunning. Breakfast is good. Not much to do here for young children.

Pros - An immersice National Park experience right in the heart of everything. Cons- No In room Wifi Hot water needs to run for about 5 mins before you can shower, which in a water scarce coubtry like SA is pure wastage, a better plumbing solution should be investigated. Other than that, I enjoyed my stay here

“Expensive” ”
Staff is great and breakfast is good , but the hotel is outdated and lacking basics such as a bar fridge and modern finishes. The restaurant is substandard and uninspiring. It is a pity as this is an iconic location with unmatched natural beauty. Another missed opportunity by government. Rather stay in Clarens in a private hotel and operate from there.

Chalets very old , our room had lots of problems , leaking toilet , plugs broken , heaters broken There was no blankets provided , they indicated that they provide electric blankets we didn't get any , we requested to no avail Staff are friendly but not very helpful, we requested a late check out, they first said someone would come to let us know , nothing happened, went again they said they would let us know , once again nothing , eventually on the day of departure after contacting them again they gave us 30 minutes grace

I have mixed feelings about our stay. It is a beautiful hotel with spacious rooms and a breathtaking view. The staff was friendly and attentive, especially in the restaurant. However, we found the hotel to be in desperate need of a good clean. All the carpets need a good scrub, the overlays on the tables in the restaurant were already grimy and greasy at Friday's dinner, and they were not changed even once between then and Monday morning breakfast. Our room had damp in the bathroom wall. The buffet dinner was expensive for what was on offer. And there is very little to do there if you are not a walker/hiker - for everything else you need to drive somewhere. The decor is delightful 70s retro. It had a spacious feel. If you want place where you can walk, climb and hike, then this is the perfect place. It is also a brilliant place if you want to read, sleep, and rest with an amazing view for a weekend.

Not worth it!”
The smell in the hotel was awful, not sure if it was the old carpets or the aircons. The hot water in the shower wasn’t working. They didn’t provide any Wi-Fi. The tennis court was growing bushes, clearly not maintained. They charged us a higher conservation fee than what they sent us with the booking. The only nice thing about out stay was the breakfast. Remember this place is owned and run by SA government so it’s very bad.
