We booked the two rooms with 100% advance payment. Also, we confirmed from hotel about our reservations and arrangements. However, when we reached the hotel on 8th July, they allocated the two poorly cleaned, low sealing, lower category rooms to us. When confronted with the reception guy, he accepted that he has given us the lower category rooms as the rooms which we booked are not available. (Is it our fault?)
On making noise, their manager said, he can’t give us the room we have booked and rooms picture shown in the Agoda are incorrect and of higher category. Also, rooms are not available due to weddings and other functions.
He asked us to adjust and accommodate (5 adults) in one Suite, where they can put three bed (actually mattresses on the floor). We had no choice but to accept his offer as we did not have any plan to spoil our two days stay in Kanpur. (We are at the mercy of hotel now)
The hotel provided the 3 mattress in the so called suite but without pillow and blankets. We had to literally request for the same.
Locker kept in the room was already locked, so could not use and we don’t know what was inside (Its bit risky to stay in the room with such situation)
So we paid for 5 adults in two rooms, in return we got one room with 3 people slept on the floor (so called extra bed)
Overall it was the worst experience for us to stay in Vijay Intercontinental. In fact, we should demand refund of our stay charges. I am sure, none of us will stay and recommend to anyone who wants to stay in peace.
