We truly LOVED Mai Pen Rai. We will be back. In every aspect the place was an experience we will not forget. VERY friendly staff, bungalow neat, clean and staff quick to solve any problem. If you are looking for a safe, relaxed and TRUE Thai experience, this is the place for you. The food is fantastic. Remember to try the Phangan Curry.

If you want to get away from it all, this is the place... There's not a lot nearby but the restaurant and the staff are great and more than make up for it. If you like parties and loud bars this place isn't for you.

Look no further if you want paradise. This is unspoilt and magical, probably Thailand of old, the setting is something from your dreams, a one off. The accommodation is quite basic but that’s part of the appeal. It will remain in my dreams forever as the perfect beach.

A perfect escape ”
This is probably as close to the wild-paradise-getaway as you can easily get without camping on the beach. As the resort is located on a remote side of the island and in the middle of the national park, it's nicely removed from the general tourist hussle with only some random day visitors stopping by. The scenery is amazing, with clear blue water and rocks enclosing the beach. It's great if you like observing nature and all its creatures as there's plenty around (and some might visit your bungalow so don't be surprised). Staff are very lovely and helpful but not in your face at all times, something I really appreciated. That said, if you like people jumping around you and a bit of luxury, this is not a place for you. Disclaimer: I was traveling COVID time so things might be a little different in the high season.

Very remote location”
Pros: very close to nature, rocks and trees are parts of the houses, very quiet and close to animals. Every bungalow has a sea view. All very close to ocean. Cons: waves are quite loud at night so hard to sleep, costs 1000 baht to get there unless you travel at 10am with hotel organized taxi for 200 per person.

This is a magical resort. Once you fall in love with it, you will return here many times. But it isn’t for everyone. You must like nature and love animals. And if you can tell or like to listen to stories or bring your instrument to play music by the fire, then you’ve arrived in heaven on Earth.

4 days in a hidden bay”
The bay scenery and the nature was beautiful, the food in restaurant again disappointed us like anywhere in Thailand. The price of the food maybe a little higher but it's ok on the shore. (Same owner of bungalows) we will sure return here. If you don't want to sleep with insects under same roof take with you insect killer. You can buy it anywhere in grocery.

Best ever location on Koh Phangan. Bungalow are basic, in the middle of nowhere, perfect to disconnect and relax. There is a river with wild animals, and a totally secluded beach. It's a beach where you're alone for great sunrises and somehow decent sunsets. I found cobra skin in my toilet, and left because was scared. Staff needs big improvement, a bit more smiling would be nice, as well as not just asking THB at any moment.

Pro: - beautiful beach - nice atmosphere - very relaxing and great surroundings Con: - staff was not very friendly - lousy bathrooms (only cold water, bathroom was always wet, low water pressure and not very clean) - a lot of cockroaches and spiders (even dead ones under our bed) It's quiet outside of everything. So if you want a very private place without too many people this might be agood place for you. But there is really nothing closeby! For more than three days it was a bit too wuiet for us

Localisation is golden and I do believe that it was once in a lifetime adventure to sleep so close to the nature. But on the other hand the Staff does not care much about this place. The beach was full of rubbish and bungalows were all in dirt. Bedsheets, pillows and towels were smelly. A little more effort and this place could be magical. Ps. Be aware that this place is in a jungle and you may expect some lizard and spider guests in your bathroom :)

Than sadet is a precious special place but what a shame that Mai Pen Rai is treating tourist as cash machine. Prices are more expensive at the resort than on agoda...but if you get too good of a discount expect to be in the worst wooden bungalow: n52...the price was doubled by the owner overnight apparently because it s high season suddenly (2/3 of the resort empty but anyway...) It s hidden behind plants probably to hide the state of it and the door stayed 10 cm open even with the lock on.

Horrible staff, absolutely not helpfull, not friendly, the smile is missing here ! If you love Thailande for the local people you will be so desappointed at this place. In add all is more expensive than everywhere. Motobike (we rent for 2 days, the women said "OK for 400 baht 2 days", normally they charge 250 per day. At the moment for pay, the woman ask 500 baht, and ask 250 more for the 4 hours of delay. Discussion was impossible for find an arrangement, she decide to stop talk and wait for money, that all. Regarding the Bungalows, like said everybody, it's very basic, not clean at all, the bed are so old and bad. And for finish the food of the restaurant is realy too expensive regarding the quality. I'm sorry for this bad message, I've never did that, but people have to know what they will find here. Come for the beach but not for a stay.
