A little bit of spoiling goes a long way”
We decided to visit the Shangri-La for a short stay cation during ourChinese New Year break! What a treat, in fact the luxurious experience was quite over whelming! I loved it and can't wait to go back again.
Staff is nice and helpful ”
Food quality and taste definitely need improvement if it wants to become an international hotel with a prestigious brand name.
Located on the South side of the city where all the new developments are. You can expect the same service quality from all Shangrila hotels
Great service by all staff especially housekeeping. Room was very clean and water pressure was strong. Wide variety for breakfast...japanese, local and western, especially liked the freshly juiced carrot and celery.
Great environment and scenery!!”
Will come again, value for money!
Weekend in Xi'an ”
Great food, comfortable bed for tired body after being out all day seeing the sights, beautiful hotel
I booked a few days ago and arrived there in the evening. But, so absurd thing happened. Suddenly, the staffs in the reception seemed quite busy and puzzled and I felt that something was going wrong. The manager came to me and told me that it's overbooked and arranged me at massage room?!. Terrible night. I couldn't even turn off the soothing massage background music. Very badly surprised.
Not so great of an arrival”
I arrived at 7:30 pm only to be told that my room was not ready and that it would not be ready until at least 9 pm. Check-In time is 2 pm. They kept asking when I made the booking (I had made it 3 weeks prior) and saying they were really full. They didn't offer an upgrade just changed me to a room that I had not requested - a single king bed even though it was me and my 2 kids. I had booked an Executive Lounge room floor, but they ended up moving me down to a lower floor so that we could get settled for the night. The rest of the stay was average with the exception of the Executive Lounge - the staff there was fantastic and what you would expect from a Shangri-La! Truly lovely. If my recommendation were based on our arrival, I would not recommend the hotel to my friends or family. The hotel did next to nothing to make the check-in process smoother. This is in stark contrast with the Hilton in Beijing - where we had just come from. I believe that hotel may have been overbooked, but they immediately upgraded us to a suite, no waiting around, nothing. They followed up with phone calls and an email - I would go back there and stay in a heartbeat and recommend it as well. Not Shangri-La Xian.
A superb place to stay”
Our plane landed late at night, but we were greeted by friendly staff at the airport. In fact, when I contacted the concierge desk prior to the trip, the staff member was very helpful to arrange the airport transportation. That seemed to have set the tone for the entire stay at the hotel -- a wonderful place with well-trained staff. Would definitely want to go back.
Nice room and good location”
Fantastic hotel but far from the city centre”
As any other Shangri-la I have stayed before this one is very good. The location is very far from the city center and given the incredibly difficulty of getting a taxi in Xian this is a big inconvenience. They will arrange for a taxi to take you to the city but the return is another matter. Some nights it took us 30-40 minutes to find a taxi that (1) would stop and (2) would be willing to take us. After a whole day exploring and with tired kids, this is not a good end of the day. I do need to emphasize the efficiency of the the staff. Specially the chief concierge is an absolute gem. I was waiting for important documents to be delivered by FEDEX and he organized everything for me and when they arrived went personally looking for me to deliver them. When we needed to go to the airport, he organized a private transportation since we were carrying a lot of luggage and taxis sometimes refuse to carry big suitcases. I had not asked for that but I surely appreciated his concern and thoughtfulness of solving our problem even before it presented itself. Most appreciated!!
Best hotel in town”
This definitely is the best hotel in town. However, the town doesn't offer much choice. It is difficult to stay in Xian, because as a Caucasian, most taxi drivers will not stop for me. It can be difficult to get a taxi from the airport, so I suggest taking a bus to get into town. Great noodle store around the corner.
pleasant and friendly ”
Good hotel, room was a bit smaller than expected, and it was a bit cold inside, but worked ok. The location is not optimal for going to see the attractions and city center however. Good staff and good service.
Excellent business hotel”
Excellent assistance from Mike Cheng - a first rate concierge who helped us with challenges and ordinary requests with great personality and always with a smile!
Good hotel in the heart of Xian, clean and confortable if slightly overpriced. Getting a taxi not easy in Xian so allow extra time.
The dim sum buffet was awesome! Best in the world!”
Grand hotel with extremely outstanding service.”
cannot say enough about the amazing assistance given to my husband when he needed medical care in the middle of the night. they were simply outstanding. kudos to the beautiful xi'an shangri-la.
It is a very good hotel in Xian, is the best hotel in xian
Extremely customer focused 5 star hotel.”
While staying at the Shangri-La in Xi'an, my husband ended up needing fluids after a kidney stone attack. The night manager and the concierge ended up going with us to the hospital and were able to help us get the treatment he needed in a very efficient and expediant manner. Something we could not have accomplished on our own at all. They even had the hotel deliver water and food to us. Unbelievable service!
Great hotel. Staff were very friendly.”
This was my second time in the Shangri-La and I loved staying there. This is a great hotel.
Great hotel, but pricy”
The service, food and facilities are within expectation. The room is a bit too small when compared with the other Shangri-La in Xian. It would be good if razor is provided. Location is not bad, but you need to walk a bit further to the shopping areas. It has the city view and a couple of good restaurants nearby. Overall, it is a nice hotel.
great stay overall”
The hotel is located in a relatively new district of the city, but not so far away from the old city and major tourist attractions. Another major advantage is that it is towards the south of the city, meaning that it's a quicker drive to the airport and out of the city to the Terra Cotta Warriors. The staff were very friendly and helpful with our stay. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, though there is not much of a view, given where the hotel is. The exercise facilities are excellent, with a full array and a very nice sauna room and hot tub. The breakfast buffet offerings leave some to be desired, but there's enough to eat in the city anyway. Overall a very comfortable stay.
Fantastic hotel in Xi'an”
had a great time, would be hard to improve on the hotel and the quality of service, will look for shangri-la hotels wherever we go on trips.
Great Hotel with true 5 star service”
Beautiful hotel with professional, friendly service.
Ok location - ok service”
Compared to our stay in Beijing, this did not live up to 5* standards - more a 4*. For quite a new hotel,
Very smart hotel, first rate service”
Through the hotel we booked an airport pick-up with a car and driver which was much more expensive than taking a taxi, but worth every penny to be greeted by the smiling face of a hotel meeter and greeter and to be handed over to the driver. At the hotel we were greeted at the door by name and taken straight to our room with no check-in procedure. That was all taken care of for us. The hotel is superb and a good base to visit the Terracotta Warriors and a few places in Xian itself. The atmosphere in February was extremely polluted though as it was very still and dry weather.
Great hotel in Xi'an”
Hotel staff went out their way to accommodate my request - I was short of cash and the hotel ATM was out of order. The lobby manager offered me cash in advance with my credit card which was a privilege only to hotel club member.
To be expected, the rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable as is normally the case with Shangi-La hotels. For a business traveller, the hotel facilities were able to meet my needs. For a tourist here fore pleasure, this may not be the best location as it is not in "old" Xi'an which requires further travel by car. In addition, althoug the staff were polite, I did not feel as welcome as compared to other staff from other 5 star hotels.
From the minute we arrived we loved this hotel. We had been told that it was out of the centre of things but we did not find this an issue. After spending our days sightseeing it was wonderful to return to the luxury of this hotel and each night we really enjoyed the superb buffet dinner
Staff training should be improved as there are many staff who are not attentive to the guests demands. Elevator system works too slow. Are you limiting the use of elevators to just a 2 or 3 units? TOTO toilet in bathroom do not have enough water to flush everything! You should make a airport pick up and hotel bus to the airport as an additional service. There are many things I scan point out for improvement.
