There’s not much we can add to all of the other positive reviews for this place. We had an excellent two night stay. Everything was perfect for us. As has been mentioned before, this is not the place for you if you are looking for 5 star chain hotel luxury. But it was exactly what we were looking for. The staff was excellent. Location was great. Can’t say enough good things about our stay! We highly recommend!!
Charming hotel, great location”
Such a great little hotel. It feels like you are in Beijing of 100 years ago. Not one skyscraper in sight. But some lovely temples are nearby to explore. The staff was wonderful (a special shoutout to Simone.!) Highly recommend this hotel.
Helpful staff, fantastic location”
The staff couldn’t have been more helpful - from guiding us around the city to booking a taxi. The room was cleaned every day and it was quiet. All in all, a great stay!
I can 't say enough good things about how amazing and helpful the staff is!!! The room is clean and beautiful. The handy mobile phone provided was a life saver. Note that if you say on the second floor there are no elevators. Lots of eateries around. There is a semi upscale peking duck restaurant and a local super cheap and super delicious dumpling place within 3 minutes of the hotel. One of the lovely staff ladies walked us to both and even helped us order the dumplings. Would stay here again!
Tip Top Experience!”
I really enjoyed my recent stay at the Beijing 161 Lama Temple Courtyard Hotel. The hotel is located in the Hutong, but accessible to 2 stations with just a short walking distance. The family room though is not big but very comfortable for 2 adults and 1 child. The basic facilities are all provided. To my surprise, we were given a mobile phone with data plan and map to be used for our exploration. We really appreciate the thoughtful service, and it helped us a lot in planning our itinerary. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Their service is much better than most of the 5 stars hotel. High recommended!
Lovely place; convenient location; staff who treat treat you like a member of their family; wonde”
Comfy bed, big room, nice terrace upstairs and an interesting group of fellow travellers. Highly recommend ....
Small but nice place, feels more like a guest house rather than hotel but you feel very welcome.
Breakfast so so, but there is lots of shops and restaurants nearby.
Again, great staff :)
Smelly and dirty neighbourhood ”
Room has a lingering smell of sewage, slow evacuation of water in shower, has to stand in ankle deep water . Air conditioning running but not cool or warm even slightly, only hear fan noise. Room has no small fridge, tissue, and extra toiletries.. The floor looked clean but feel sticky when barefoot. Location is far inside small dirty, full of spits , poops and garbage . Plenty of low quality restaurants around and beggars near Lama temple. Wifi working but speed slow. The staff were excellent, very welcoming and helpful, speak good English. Decor is like photos, but reception decor, seat and couch look dirty and unwelcome. Public restroom is very disgusting. Hope management read my recommendations and improve so that you deserve a better clientele .
exceptional service, close to lama temple”
As the name suggests, the hotel is very close to the lama temple. It is somewhat hard to find in the hutong as there are no big conspicuous signs, but I think that's part of the hutong experience. It's located close to a small restaurant that serves authentic beijing breakfast food. Subway station about a 10 minute walk. The staff were extremely accommodating since our first arrival. We arrived around 7am and they were able to store our luggage. By the time we checked in, our luggage were in our room waiting for us. Best part was we got a free upgrade to the family room since it was open. My girlfriend left her sweater behind, and they were able to send it to our new hotel. Great communication and service. Breakfast and fresh coffee provided. Highly recommended
Excellent staff. Friendly and helpful service. Home from home.
