After a good and efficient check-in by Abbie, a few small problems quickly became apparent. As soon as I entered the first room I was allocate, I was assailed by a malodorous smell. I immediately phoned down to reception and Abbie quickly arranged for me to be switched to another room. Once settled in that room I went to switch on the TV to watch the Test Match, only to find that the TV would not switch on. After a further call to reception, a maintenance man promptly appeared and after some considerable fiddling managed to get the TV to work. I was thus able to watch England win the test Match. Thus both problems were resolved efficiently and promptly.
Throughout my stay there was only one further very minor annoyance. I ate in the hotel restaurant that night and it was annoying to find that both the " Roast of the Day " and the " Pie of the Day " were lamb. A meat I do not particularly care for. Better planning of the menu is perhaps called for!!
Every thing was fine apart from we had no sky or digital tv.
Better than it looks!”
Staff attitude and friendliness, quality of food, room essentials
Location does not look too appealing close up but I found my stay pretty good and I would stay here again. Food is pretty good, staff are friendly and efficient. Downsides: room a bit stuffy (but fan provided helps!) and need to clean dishwasher filter (which they appreciated being told). Very good value for money.
One night ”
1. Staff 2. Clean [ recently decorated
One of the most uncomfortable hotel beds that I have ever tried to sleep. My husband attempted to sleep in a chair the bed was so hard.
Too hot due to hot pipes being on max & unable to switch them off in the middle of June.

area was not great. In need of refurbishment. Buffet breakfast was cold.
Had booked the Tillington Hall hotel because of its location to Stafford and it's cost. I suppose I got what I expected for the cost. It was inexpensive but the overall hotel, in particular the interior, is in need of an update.
Inexpensive but slightly run down hotel”
price, warm in cold weather, location
cold shower, slightly worn carpets and decor
I grew up in Stafford and Tillington Hall was always considered to be a quality hotel, especially. Now it is a Best Western and many of the facilities such as the gym, pool and sauna have now gone. The hotel has seen better days but considering it was onlyyou can't really complain too much.
